Your Rejection of My ArtNet Edits

What is your connection to Artnet? Your extensive re-writing of the ArtNet page last year, coincidentally after the company went private, and your zealously guarding your sanitized version of the company's history would suggest that perhaps you may have more than a casual outside observer's interest. TheBusinessOfArt (talk) 22:14, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

:@TheBusinessOfArt Not gonna lie, this is an extremely funny accusation. I have no connection to Artnet. Nor am I "zealously guarding" anything. I reverted your edits which were cited to a literal advertisement that you photographed and uploaded to Commons; if you don't see why that doesn't pass muster as a source on Wikipedia, you need to learn how to edit here.
:I did not "sanitize" the Artnet article. I majorly expanded it with independent sourcing, removed promotional content sourced to Artnet itself, and generally improved it quite a lot, if I do say so myself. I actually also added a range of information that does not look good for the company at all, in its current or previous iterations, including alleged corporate malfeasance, sexual misconduct by employees, and infighting among investors and company leadership.
:I've spent the past few months editing a range of articles about art media, including ''ARTnews ↗'' and ''Art in America ↗'', Artnet was just the latest one I decided to have a crack at. Go check the tape.
:You appeared out of nowhere, days after the literal founder of the company showed up here trying to edit the article in similar ways. I honestly assumed ''you'' were Pierre Sernet operating under a new username, which is why I threw a Conflict of Interest warning on your page for good measure. 19h00s (talk) 22:23, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
:Just for good measure, you can literally compare the article side-by-side from before I started working on to now. This is the old version of the article ↗; and here is the current version ↗. Please, tell me how I "sanitized" it. Be specific. 19h00s (talk) 22:36, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

At one point you were concerned that a better presentation of the "major schools of thought about the work" were in the article. Is it satisfactory now?-TonyTheTiger (T / C ↗ / WP:FOUR ↗ / WP:CHICAGO ↗ / WP:WAWARD ↗) 07:07, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

:Hey @TonyTheTiger, sorry I never followed up here. I am definitely quite pleased with how much you added and the sources you pulled from. With an artwork like this, there will inevitably be some review or some paper that we don't notice until later, but you seem to have done most of if not all the requisite digging. Though I'm no Warhol expert (so I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable saying we've covered absolutely ''everything'' needed), I'm happy with where this has ended up in terms of interpretation, analysis, and critical reception. Great work on this. And I want to recognize that this one was a slog to get all the sources and you've been waylaid by several editors piling on additional requests/changes (I was certainly one of them), so kudos to you for sticking it out and getting this to such a better place. 19h00s (talk) 21:10, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thanks for adding Unmanned Drone to so many new projects and for your great article on Monuments. Thank you also for your clear user and inspiring user page. I may hit you up for help with all those art magazines/publications. I am focusing on LA art right now. You're the best! Scarykitty (talk) 21:14, 15 May 2026 (UTC)

:@Scarykitty Always happy to help! And I hope I didn't stomp all over anything you had planned for the article, I just figured I could help with some of the easier formatting adjustments/disambiguation tasks. Just let me know if you ever need access to an article, I can often find things pretty quickly from most art magazines/papers. 19h00s (talk) 21:22, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
::not at all! I'm finding the LA art scene so under-written about and some of the major articles having outdated sections MOCA, LA ↗ and LACMA ↗ and I have limited time so I'm just throwing stuff up. I did reach my limit of free articles on ArtNet already this month, but I was able to find another free source when I was creating the article for Irving Blum ↗. But I may take you up on that! Advice on artist pages

Hello, I came across your edits on Scott Burton, and was wondering if you might advise me on how to improve a recent draft I have been working on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lani_Asunci%C3%B3n_(artist) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! SJMW1987 (talk) 12:56, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @SJMW1987! Based on the sources you have in the draft, I think Asunción is probably right on the edge of general notability (the standard by which Wikipedia decides if a subject is notable enough for a standalone article). That does not mean Asunción is not ''actually'' notable enough for an article, that's just my assessment based on the sources you've added, particularly because there are quite a few primary sources in the draft, which cannot be used to establish notability (their faculty listing for MassArt, the websites of the awards they've won, etc.). Has Asunción been in any major national or international exhibitions? (Whitney Biennial, Documenta, Venice Biennale; or a major thematic group show at a museum like MFA Boston, ICA Boston, or an equivalent) Has Asunción staged solo exhibitions at a museum or is their work owned by a major museum? If the answer to any of these questions is yes (or even a qualified yes), then Asunción is likely notable enough for an article. But that needs to be proven through additional reliable secondary sources - like the ''Boston Globe'' piece or ''WBUR'' story - that were created by someone independent of the artist to prove that Asunción has received sustained, independent coverage of their art and career. Just because an artist has staged a show or won an award does not necessarily mean they and their achievement are worthy of inclusion on Wikipedia; that exhibition or award (and artist) has to have been written about by a reliable source independent of the artist.
:Happy to dive deeper if you need, but I do wish you luck in editing this draft! It does seem to me that Asunción is probably getting close to the level of coverage needed for notability, I'd just need to see some more secondary sources to be fully convinced. 19h00s (talk) 13:18, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
