Hello!

Hi Aaron, I'm a newer editor and I've been adding content about Igbo culture and history to Wikipedia over the past few days. I ran into a problem with the Ika people article.

The article claimed the Ika language originates from Edoid languages with no sources. I added content sourced from peer reviewed academic books and journals including Forde & Jones (1967), Williamson (1968), Blench (2019), and a 2022 paper in African Identities journal, all of which classify Ika within the western Igbo/Igboid group.

My edit was reverted by Tbhotch with no reason given. I opened a Talk page discussion with my sources and got no response. I restored the edit. Tbhotch then warned me on my personal Talk page calling my edit disruptive, even though I followed all the proper steps including submitting a formal edit request first.

I've just posted at the NPOV noticeboard here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard

Any advice would be really appreciated. Jeremiah uduak nome (talk) 20:16, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hey, this looks to me like a hot mess of miscommunications. Are any problems still going on? In solidarity ↗, Aaron Liu (talk) 14:28, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard

Hi, Aaron. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard ↗. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please take the {{slink|WP:Mentorship noticeboard|Survey|nopage=yes}} when you get there! Mathglot (talk) 00:21, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

Good close

I kind of called that was going to close as "no consensus". I tried to raise sources but almost nobody wanted to discuss them. Simonm223 (talk) 16:25, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
