Erysiphe semitosa
Thanks for creating Erysiphe semitosa ↗. I'm trying to de-orphan the article. Is the correct spelling ''Erysiphe semitos'''t'''a, or is that a separate species? 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:C43E:CF3E:CA0A:DD37 ↗ (talk) 17:43, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

Powdery mildew (Oaks)
When I came across the article, like you, I immediately started to think that the title wasn't something that you would be searching for. I found a similar existing article Powdery mildew (barley) ↗, which is why I changed the title to Powdery mildew (oaks) ↗ - as there would then be a common theme. As to areas that don't commonly refer to ''Quercus'' as 'Oaks', then you could just add a section to the article clarifying those examples.
As to the orphan, that would be easily address by adding a short sub-section to Powdery mildew ↗, identifying the infection in Oaks (''Quercus''), with a link to the Powdery mildew (oaks). The same can be done for some of the individual species of oak.
Hope that helps - happy editing. Dan arndt (talk) 01:07, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
:@Dan arndt Thanks for the reply! Just a heads up the Powdery mildew (barley) article won't last very long - it actually refers to Blumeria hordei but is too out of date. It's on my list to rewrite soon! Alexoutside (talk) 06:13, 23 September 2025 (UTC)

Re: Phyllactinia taurica ↗
Thanks for the expansion of this article. As for templates, these are kept or removed according to the template documentation. For example, {{tl|Use dmy dates}} is not a cleanup request so is usually not removed, but {{tl|more citations needed}} can be removed if sufficient citations are in the article.
However, it seems the version from August 2025 ↗ had 11 citations, but the current version after your recent edits has reduced this to 3 citations. Some of the removed citations mentioned Leveillula taurica ↗ in the title, but you mentioned some confusion with Leveillula allii ↗ in this edit ↗. That distinction seems to warrant some further explanation, and whether those citations are actually referring to "allii". Perhaps some of the "taurica"-specific citations need to be brought back, and a new article created for Leveillula allii ↗ or Phyllactinia allii ↗ depending on how the namings are done in this case? All the best in your editing. Dl2000 (talk) 13:53, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
:Thanks for the reply!
:Admittedly it was more of a contraction of the article but as I mentioned briefly in the edit summary it appeared the majority of the article used ''Phyllactinia taurica'' and OPM (Onion Powdery Mildew) interchangeably while mostly referring to powdery mildew on onions – which is caused by "''Leveillula''" ''allii''. Of course a new article will be created for this species in the future, but I'm a busy kid with 1000+ articles to write (plus a global powdery mildew 'bioblitz' event to organise this week)!
:As for the citations, six of them referred to ''Leveillula taurica'' infecting onions, so it can only be assumed that they were really referring to ''Leveillula allii''. Of the rest, the first one was a source for the synonyms list but I have since added many more from Braun & Cook (2012) and the second was a source for a selection of host plants that can also be replaced by Braun & Cook's more complete list of host families. The sixth source is one I kept of course, the "Taxonomic Manual of the Erysiphales (Powdery Mildews)" is the most up-to-date monograph on the family and covers a great deal of information on many species. I'm afraid I have little information on the tenth source "The Powdery Mildews: A Comprehensive Treatise.", however I believe it was used to refer to a general statement on control of powdery mildews, which I have made the decision to omit from nearly all powdery mildew articles other than the main one. This is because they all repeat the same basic information 'fungicides are useful, sometimes there's resistance, consider alternatives' that doesn't really have a place in every (or any) individual species article unless there is something specific about managing that fungus that needs to be talked about.
:In the rewrite I kept Braun and Cook as usual and added Bradshaw et al. (2025) (the paper which reduced ''Leveillula'' to synonymy with ''Phyllactinia'') as well as a more up to date example of how ''Phyllactinia taurica'' does infect many crops. Sadly volume of citations does not always equate to quality of citations... Alexoutside (talk) 15:35, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
