Infobox image handling
Hi, I've noticed your myriad edits to infobox image display in TV station pages. I am not sure if they are the right move.
- The infobox, as should be standard, inserts a light background on transparent logos, including in darkmode. While some one-color logos are OK to invert visually, others that are multicolor (anything other than black or dark gray) will look unusual and not use official colors.
- Adding frameless classes like this Special:Diff/1263111075 ↗ is also not advisable. I would like to know why you did this so we can find some more appropriate solutions.
If you have questions, let me know. There really is not as much documentation as there should be about this. <span style="color:#ba4168">Sammi Brie</span> (she/her • t • c ↗) 00:39, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
:adding frameless images on the ABC or NBC stations can make it look a little more cleaner. (I.e. some abc logos like WABC uses the color white in their logo, not using the white background looks more better). And about making the FOX stations inverted, makes it better and cleaner looking as well.
:if my editing isn’t right or appropriate [to change the images] I will politely stop though if there is a workaround it I will gladly help
:Note the only image I will invert are those in grayscale colors (white, grey, or black) Andreasc2000 (talk) 01:04, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
::It’s also worth noting that the CBS and FOX logos inverted are mainly used a lot (mainly lots of cable boxes uses dark mode for television guides) much or like the ABC article that uses inverted colors Andreasc2000 (talk) 01:07, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
:::With all due respect, the injection of the frameless tagging is poor coding and disables the alt text. Plus, while a logo like CBS's or the Fox owned-stations are in monochrome, inverting the color on them is a completely improper display. The previous inverting of WBTW ↗'s logo was especially egregious as it turned the gold crescent ''blue'', and it has never been displayed like that. It's not about being "cleaner", it's about an '''accurate''' portrayal of a copyrighted, non-free trademarked logo. <b style="color:#604B38;background:#E3DBD9;padding:3px;">Nathan Obral</b> • he/him • <span style="color:#AB9189">t</span> • <span style="color:#AB9189">c</span> ↗ • 19:36, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm TechnoSquirrel69. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, :Frutiger Aero ↗, but you didn't provide a reliable source ↗. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation ↗ and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners ↗. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-unsourced1 --> <span class="nowrap">—<span style="color: #0b541f;">'''TechnoSquirrel69'''</span></span> <small>(<span style="color: #0b541f;">'''sigh'''</span>)</small> 22:38, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
:There's an image on one of the references, "Physical reflections of digital aesthetics: the influence of Frutiger Aero on interior design" on page 462 it shows an image of different sub genres of frutiger aero called the frutiger family. That was my citation I was trying to place to the "subgenre" section I added. Andreasc2000 (talk) 00:38, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
::Ah, that's what I thought you might've been referring to. Thanks for clarifying, but the image you mentioned doesn't really support any of the text you added describing each sub-style, it's just a diagram symbolizing their related characteristics. If there is text discussing one of those styles, that can certainly be cited and included. For example, Frutiger Metro ↗ is already discussed in the article. Let me know if you have any questions! <span class="nowrap">—<span style="color: #0b541f;">'''TechnoSquirrel69'''</span></span> <small>(<span style="color: #0b541f;">'''sigh'''</span>)</small> 04:40, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
:::I can't find a good source explaining the different subgenres of frutiger aero all except for a website titled "frutiger-aero.org" which does explain different kinds of aero designs. So… maybe that could be a source explaining the subgenres…? Andreasc2000 (talk) 15:39, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
::::P.S.
::::If you want the real link to the website it's: frutiger-aero.org/frutiger-aero Andreasc2000 (talk) 15:40, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
:::::Looking into that website a little, it looks like a fan project created and hosted on Neocities ↗. As user-generated content ↗, it would not be considered a reliable source ↗ that's fit for use on Wikipedia. What is usable are things like reputable newspapers with editorial oversight or peer-review ↗ed journals. ::::::Unfortunately I couldn't find any other source :( maybe within that article "Physical reflections of digital aesthetics: the influence of frutiger aero on interior design" that could explain what each sub genre is
::::::I'll have to look into it Andreasc2000 (talk) 14:21, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi Andreasc2000! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of :WSYX ↗ several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy ↗ disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages ↗ to try to reach consensus ↗. If you are unable to agree at {{TALKPAGENAME:WSYX}} ↗, please use one of the dispute resolution options ↗ to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you.<!-- Template:uw-ewsoft --> Mvcg66b3r (talk) 22:53, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
:The WSYX-DT2 (MyTV) logo has been in the infobox for a very long time now, so why should it be deleted now? It should be in the infobox because it states in the introduction that it is a MyTV affiliate, and it has a station logo. Andreasc2000 (talk) 23:11, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
30px|link= ↗ You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war ↗ according to the reverts you have made on :WSYX ↗. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate ↗ with others, to avoid editing disruptively ↗, and to try to reach a consensus ↗, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
# '''Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;'''
# '''Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.'''
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page ↗ to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard ↗ or seek dispute resolution ↗. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection ↗. If you engage in an edit war, you '''may be blocked ↗ from editing.''' <!-- Template:uw-ew --> Mvcg66b3r (talk) 22:02, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

This is the second time I've reverted a good-faith edit to "update" the logo. This station has stubbornly not done so in local programming materials. I already reverted a similar change attempt in February. <span style="color:#ba4168">Sammi Brie</span> (she/her · t · c ↗) 03:46, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

While the future logo is on Commons, it is not needed in the article until September 1, 2025, in the infobox. Aside from instances where the logo can actually illustrate a point for the subject matter or is very much public domain (this is most definitely not the case due to it including the current CW logo, which is very much trademarked) there exists no need to have a future logo, or any previous logos, in the article body. <b style="color:#604B38;background:#E3DBD9;padding:3px">Nathan Obral</b> • he/him/🦝 • <span style="color:#AB9189">t</span> • <span style="color:#AB9189">c</span> ↗ • 22:41, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
30px|link=|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello Andreasc2000! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright ↗ and plagiarism ↗ issues. Here are the key points:
- '''Limited quotation:''' You may only copy or translate a ''small'' portion of a source. Any direct quotations ↗ must be enclosed in double quotation mark ↗s (") and properly cited using an inline citation ↗. More information is available on the non-free content page ↗. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners ↗.
- '''Paraphrasing:''' Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ''in your own words''. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues ↗ and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing ↗. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources ↗ as appropriate.
- '''Image use guidelines:''' In most scenarios, only freely licensed ↗ or public domain ↗ images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons ↗. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria ↗; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide ↗ may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- '''Copyrighted material donation:''' If ''you'' hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials ↗.
- '''Copying and translation within Wikipedia:''' Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia ↗. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.
