Cut-and-paste moves

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give :Pedro St. James Castle ↗ a different title by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move ↗", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history ↗, which is legally required for attribution ↗. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits ↗, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu ↗ for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge ↗. Thank you. * Pppery * it has begun... 07:01, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

:I don't remember merging any other pages this way, and I had actually created a page under the correct heading back in 2006 that was undone by someone else doing it this way so I was just undoing that incorrect change. I'll keep that in mind going forward though, cheers. '' '''austiñobobbiño (talk)''' '' 11:56, 19 August 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions ↗, such as the edit(s) you made to :Figure skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics – Men's singles ↗, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted ↗. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines ↗. You can find information about these at our welcome page ↗ which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia ↗. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page ↗. :I was attempting to follow the precedent that seemed to be set by Figure skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's singles ↗ while trying to retain the background material that was already present intact. There doesn't seem to be a clear style guide; 2018 has a summary and no background, 2022 has a background and no summary, so I was doing my best to update it while keeping material intact. ::Figure skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics – Men's singles ↗ has a summary at the end (or, at the very least, as part of the free skate section). These articles are meant to flow chronologically, so the results and all of that (surprise, shock, etc.) goes toward the end. '''Bgsu98''' (Talk) 22:36, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

::::The outcome does not change the fact that Malinin received tons of over-the-top press practically declaring the Olympic event a coronation. If anything, that press is even more significant now as it amplifies the shock of the outcome. '''Bgsu98''' (Talk) 22:46, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
