Absence of edit summaries

It is customary to show courtesy to other editors and those with articles on their watch list by indicating what you have changed and why in the edit summary of the articles you edit. I very nearly reversed one of yours as vandalism today because you did not do so. Please remember in future that editing WP is a co-operative venture. Sweetpool50 (talk) 17:08, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon|link= ↗ Hello. Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia ↗. I noticed that your recent edit to :Diego de Almagro II ↗ did not have an edit summary ↗. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief ↗.

The edit summary field looks like this:
{{The edit-summary field/OOUI}}

'''Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make.''' With a Wikipedia account ↗ you can give yourself a reminder by setting {{myprefs|3|check=Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary}}, and then click the "Save" button.

Cut and paste move

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to change the title of :Pedro de Paz ↗ by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into :Pedro de Paz (writer) ↗. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move ↗", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history ↗, which is legally required for attribution ↗. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits ↗, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu ↗ for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-c&pmove --> Wikishovel (talk) 22:22, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. I have noticed that you {{usertalk other|Nautes|PATH}} often ↗|often}} edit without using an edit summary ↗. Please do your best to {{strong|always fill in the summary field}}. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Request to improve neutrality on Spanish-Portuguese wars

Greetings, Baal Nautes! First, allow me to commend your excellent contributions to Spanish history, which I follow with great interest. I would like to kindly point your attention to the heavy pro-Portuguese bias in many articles on the Spanish-Portuguese wars. Portuguese users consistently remove Spanish victory from the War of 1776-1777 ↗, which was an evident Spanish military success, and place tags Portuguese victory in the War of 1735-1737 ↗, which was at best indecisive; in short - war where Spain makes territorial gains and major military achievements has no result, a war where there are no territorial changes and no major battles to speak of is a Portuguese victory. The War of 1762-1763 ↗ originally (some years ago) stated Anglo-Portuguese victory in Europe and Spanish victory in South America but it seems some users listed every Portuguese success in South America in the infobox in order to claim stalemate there, although Spain clearly gained the upper hand - by that logic there should be a stalemate in Europe, since Spain held Almeida until the end of the war, which played some part in securing the return of Havana and Manila. Casualties for the war of 1762-1763 seem exaggerated for the Spanish side and downplayed for the Anglo-Portuguese. Some of the conflicts in the Middle Ages also need attention. Unfortunately, in Bulgaria we have very few, if any, books dedicated on that subject and I cannot provide enough reliable and quality sources to properly contribute on the subject. I would be grateful, if you could find some time in the upcoming weeks and months to bring some neutrality on the subject. Best regards, --Gligan (talk) 12:03, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to :Ixtlilxochitl II ↗ when you modified the page, you introduced {{cl|Unknown parameters|unknown parameters}}. Just because you specify {{para|some_param|{{var|some_variable}}}} does not always mean that variable will display. The {{para|some_param}} must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview ↗ button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a '''Show preview''' button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history ↗ of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk ↗ for assistance.
Thank you.<!-- User:Zackmann08/uw/Unknown-params-warning --> '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (<sup>Talk to me ↗</sup>/<sub><span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗</sub>) 05:06, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Charles II

Yes, I've spent a lot of time on this article, mostly rescuing poor Charles from the "incest poster child boy" tag. That means it would really be nice if other editors thought about what they're adding and why, AND put it in the right section.

You've clearly come across an "interesting fact". What's STILL not clear is why this somewhat obscure and contentious augment about privateering (because the idea it "suddenly started under Charles", when Dunkirk was the centre of Spanish piracy from the outset of the Dutch Revolt, is simply not true), and is somehow of '''such''' significance that it merits a separate entry. I can provide a list of more relevant and interesting facts about his reign that have been omitted because they're simply not important enough and clog up the article for the general reader, who is the object of these.

That's the issue, and I shall explain this in detail on the TP - if you have objections to my edits, please feel free to raise them as appropriate. Robinvp11 (talk) 15:02, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
