Proposed deletion ↗ of Lionel Butler ↗

left|link=|48px| ↗

The article Lionel Butler ↗ has been proposed for deletion ↗ because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy ↗, this newly created '''biography of a living person ↗''' will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source ↗ that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners ↗, or ask at the help desk ↗. Once you have provided at least one reliable source ↗, you may remove the {{tl|prod blp}} tag. '''Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced.''' If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can {{#ifexist:Lionel Butler|request that it be undeleted|request that it be undeleted ↗}} when you are ready to add one.<!-- Template:ProdwarningBLP --> <span style="color:red;">red</span><span style="color:black;"><b>dog</b></span><span style="color:black;"><i>six</i></span> ↗ (talk) 05:05, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

left|25px|alt= ↗Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to :Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing ↗. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution ↗, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content ↗. RonBot (talk) 17:08, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Proposed deletion ↗ of :Herman Arvie ↗

left|link=|alt=Notice|48px| ↗

The article :Herman Arvie ↗ has been proposed for deletion ↗&#32;because of the following concern:
<blockquote>'''Not completely unsourced, but drastically undersourced, biography of a living person.'''</blockquote>

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons ↗.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary ↗ or on the article's talk page ↗.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process ↗, but other deletion process ↗es exist. In particular, the speedy deletion ↗ process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion ↗ allows discussion to reach consensus ↗ for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> —<b style="font-family: Verdana; color: Maroon;">S&nbsp;Marshall</b>&nbsp;<small>T/C ↗</small> 06:39, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

Better source request for :File:New York Groove single.jpg ↗

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright ↗ status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the ''exact'' source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. Gambino Family (group)

Hello
you have removed the redirect for this page. Can you please cite the information you mentioned in the edit summary, as a number of us were unable to find any WP:RS ↗ for this claim. Please see the discussion on the talk page. Thanks Nayyn (talk) 21:56, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

:Seconded.
:* If an article has been redirected per consensus -- which was the case here, as other editors agreed it was worth a redirect -- it's generally not considered a good move to undo the redirect without substantial changes. Adding a source for the chart position is not enough.
:* The article was redirected due to a lack of reliable, third party sources ↗ about the group. I revealed my findings on the talk page previously, as I extensively searched newspaper and magazine archives and found no coverage of the act whatsoever. In the case of musicians, this includes biographies from places such as AllMusic, or newspaper or magazine reviews of their work. This does ''not'' include directory listings (lyric sites), sites listing their works for sale (Amazon, Apple Store, etc.), advertisements, or databases that rely on user-generated content (such as Discogs). As I pointed out, the only good source in the article is an AllMusic biography, but it's so short as to be functionally useless as a source.
:If indeed you have found reliable third-party sources, then please feel free to add those. <span style="color:green">'''Ten Pound Hammer'''</span> • (What did I screw up now?) 21:05, 2 November 2025 (UTC
::Per Wikipedia: Notability (music) "Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart" The group has reached the top 20 on the United States Billboard 200 at number 17. I added references to that fact. Now will this article ever get past stub status? No, but it nevertheless is a notable group. I'm sorry you are not correct in redirecting this article and I'm beyond puzzled as to why you would even have the slightest issue with this.Beast from da East (talk) 02:03, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
::Because it lacks sources beyond that. The music notability guidelines ↗ are not ironclad. Not 100% of charted artists get articles because there just wasn't anything to say about them beyond that they charted. ''Please'' do not restore the redirect again, as that constitutes edit warring ↗. 30px|alt=Stop icon ↗ '''You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war ↗, according to the reverts you've made to :Gambino Family (group) ↗.''' :That they charted isn't the issue. I know they charted. But they need more than that. Some artists chart but don't get Wikipedia articles because there's just nothing to say about them. Off the top of my head, I know New Born (rapper) ↗, Cooter Brown (singer) ↗, Lisa Shaffer ↗, and others got their articles deleted for lack of sources even though all of them had charted singles.

Notablity has been established! What else do you want? Beast from da East (talk) 19:44, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
:::Whataboutism isn't helping your case any. Those were stubs I made years ago. I personally think Luckiest Man should be redirected. I don't remember every article I made, so it's possible there are other stubs that could be improved. Long Time Comin' ↗ is not a valid case, as it's a major label release by a band who already had established themselves with three other albums, and it had a #2 chart hit on it. That other sources aren't already in the article doesn't make the article non-notable.

File:You Like Me Don't You.png

Hi Beast from da East. Thank you for finding another version of the cover art for the song ":You Like Me Don't You ↗". You shouldn't, however, overwrite the Japanese cover art version :File:You Like Me Don't You.png ↗ with this new version though; please upload the version you found as separate non-free file instead (you can use :WP:UPLOAD ↗ for this) and provide information relevant to it in its non-free use rationale ↗. Files uploaded to Wikipedia shouldn't, in principle, be overwritten, except perhaps when only minor changes (e.g. straightening) are being made. This is particularly important with respect to non-free files because older unused versions of non-free files are eligible for speedy deletion per :WP:F5 ↗; so, overwriting a non-free file is a de-facto deletion of the other versions of the file without any kind of discussion with or notification being given to the uploaders of such versions. For reference, you won't be able to use the same file name as this Japanese cover art version, but you should be fine choosing a slightly different file name; for example, :File:You Like Me Don't You (English version).png ↗ or something similar should be OK. Once you've uploaded the new file, just replace the existing file with it. The other file will then become orphaned non-free use, tagged by a bot or file reviewer as such, and its uploader will be notified accordingly. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:34, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
: The above also applies to :File:Dynamite (Jermaine Jackson song).png ↗ and any other files you might've recently overwritten. Please upload the new versions as separate files. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:40, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

:File:Heavy D & the Boyz - Nuttin' but Love.jpg ↗ was probably OK to overwrite because it's basically just a black/white version of the same album cover; however, you should go and update the source of the file so that it links to where you found the updated version you uploaded. When updating a file, it's important to also update the information in the file's description/non-free use rationale to reflect the version now being used. It would be a big help if you could go back and update the descriptions/rationales of any other files you might've recently updated. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:16, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

I have reverted your upload of a larger version of the file. It isn't necessary to have it so large. The prior size was sufficient, and compliant with WP:NFCC ↗ 3b. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 01:45, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:Why are you changing the size to a larger version in violation of WP:NFCC ↗ #3b? Please explain yourself. --Hammersoft (talk) 02:12, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
::Did you read my summary? It's undersized and poor quality. Most album covers are over 300 x 300. This one is above that right now, the DatBot will resize it by tomorrow. Beast from da East (talk) 02:23, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:::So you know that you resized it too large yet did it anyway? --Hammersoft (talk) 02:26, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
:::I'm uploading a compliant version at maximum size yet still compliant. Please do not revert it again. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 02:33, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
