Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park Page

Hello, I am new to Wikipedia and have only ever edited one page. I will fully admit that I got a little lost when trying to edit sections and photos on the page because I had never done it before, then things came up in life and I had to step away. The changes you have made over the past year are impressive! There are still a few errors on the page and I wanted to see if there was a way we could collaborate since I am still learning Wikipedia. My knowledge on editing is limited but my knowledge about the park is fairly extensive. Thank you for your time. BiMallRanger (talk) 15:25, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

:If there are any errors, we will need reliable ↗, verifiable ↗ sources to confirm this. In the meantime, what do you think is inaccurate? Bneu2013 (talk) 20:43, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
::The main error is the inclusion of a "Sulfur spring" fountain in the monuments section. McNairy Spring is the fountain representing the springs in that area. The source that is being cited for this sulfur spring is not a reliable source, although some of their information is correct not all of it is. On the sources page the photo of the sulfur fountain includes a pond, if you look at a map of the park there is no pond on the park for this photo to have been taken at. I believe this is likely a photo from a metro park in Nashville. Having been to the park many times, and due to its small size, I can also visually confirm this pond and fountain do not exist. BiMallRanger (talk) 01:25, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
:::The citation is an article from ''The Tennessean'', which has been long been accepted as a reliable source without controversy. If you think it may be unreliable, you can start a discussion at WP:RSN ↗. The fountain does indeed exist, as can be confirmed in this photo ↗ (although it wasn't running at the time). I don't see the photo of the pond from the source, even though there very well may have been one on the site before the park was built. Bneu2013 (talk) 02:15, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
::::Sorry, I see you were referring to the sulphur springs monument, which I have removed. I totally forgot to remove this. The photo in question is from World's Fair Park in Knoxville. I also agree that the source used isn't the best; however, in order to remain neutral and comply with WP:RS ↗ and WP:OR ↗, I tried to use as many secondary ↗ and tertiary ↗ sources as possible, so as not to be overwhelmingly reliant on primary sources ↗ such as the park's website or Hinton's book. As such, its use is minimized. Also, it's very common for predominantly reliable sources such as this to occasionally make minor mistakes like this. This is especially true of contemporary newspaper articles. Bneu2013 (talk) 02:22, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

Congrats on the Main Page appearance! ---<span style="color:navy">Another Believer</span> (<span style="color:#C60">Talk</span>) 13:27, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

Thank you today for the article "about a public park in Nashville, Tennessee, adjacent to the Tennessee State Capitol that was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the statehood of Tennessee in 1996. While the park faced challenges in its early years, it has since been recognized as a unique and valuable outdoor museum that showcases the state's history, land, people, and musical heritage. My goal is to promote this article to appear as today's featured article on June 1, which will be the park's 30th anniversary and the 230th anniversary of Tennessee's admission to the Union."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:13, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

:Thank you both! Bneu2013 (talk) 14:26, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

'''May backlog drive'''

An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026 ↗.

'''PageTriage'''

An attempt was made to get the New Pages Feed ↗ to sort by date marked as reviewed instead of date created. However we had to revert it due to bugs. We may try again in the future. You can subscribe to the Phabricator ticket ↗ if you're interested in following along.
