25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Donald Albury. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions ↗ to :Ghee ↗ have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising ↗ and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox ↗" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources ↗, and from a neutral perspective ↗. Take a look at the welcome page ↗ to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.{{PAGENAME}} ↗<!-- Template:uw-advert1 --> Donald Albury 13:15, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

:Hi Donald. Thanks for highlighting your concern in clear terms. However, I must assure you that neither was the edit promotional, nor was it completely misplaced. The colloquially called "Vanaspati Ghee" is not just a brand but a prominent product sub-category under hydrogenated vegetable oils ↗ in South Asia, and the Wiki article already has a heading of the latter. Hence, it made sense to have this info there for those looking for the meaning of "Vanaspati" products. You could have removed the mention of the historical "Dalda" brand if that was a bit out-of-place. Thanks! Burhan.nameer (talk) 17:40, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
::The only thing the cited source supported was that an "artificial" ghee called "vanaspati" that is popular in northern India had a high level of trans-fat. I did not see that as enough to support a section in the article. Donald Albury 18:03, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
:::Would it be OK if I add the info with relevant references? Burhan.nameer (talk) 18:12, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
::::Are there other marketed alternatives to ghee? (Ghee is a specialty item here, and I am unaware of possible substitutes.) A section on imitation or artificial ghee or ghee substitutes would be a good addition to the article. If vanaspati is the only marketed substitute, a section covering how vanaspati differs from ghee, and maybe a bit of history, could justify a section. Donald Albury 18:38, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
:::::Hi Donald. I have added the facts with adequate references to state that Vanaspati Ghee is separate product category of hydrogenated oils, and an industry in itself in South Asia. Burhan.nameer (talk) 01:20, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
