25px|alt=|link= ↗ Hello, I'm SunDawn. I noticed that you made a change to an article, :Margaret Macadam ↗, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation ↗ to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 00:50, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
:Hi SunDawn, many thanks for the comment. Well, firstly I'm new (new to contributing edits, not new to financially supporting Wikipedia) so very much baby steps! Margaret Macadam was my aunt - and I contributed her dates, etc for her Royal Academy page from Macadam family documents. I inherited her estate and I am currently looking at the printed dust wrappers, with her signature, on my table. From these I produced my edits. I'll be scanning them sometime soon and happy to send you a scan. Someone had given the wrong author for "Water into Wine" - it definitely is Cotton, not Carter - the book is available from Abe Books: https://www.abebooks.com/first-edition/Water-Wine-1st-Edition-Catherine-Cotton/22867056378/bd ...but without a dust wrapper (I do not think the first UK edition had a dust wrapper - my cover is "Overseas Edition"). Oh, I also changed "Allen & Unwin" to "George Allen & Unwin" because that is what the publisher was known as at the time. BTW my name is John Macadam, my mother, Amy Elton, was a fellow student at the Royal Academy (https://www.royalacademy.org.uk/art-artists/name/amy-elton) and later married Margaret Macadam's brother. She was a war artist in India in WWII (possibly the only official one, and certainly the only official female one!). best wishes, John (Calc-flinta is the name of a rock found here in Cornwall. I'm a geologist. Calc-flinta is Victorian usage - today we call them thermally-metamorphosed calcareous siltstones). Calc-flinta (talk) 01:33, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Please do not add or change content, as you did at :St John's Hall, Penzance ↗, without citing a reliable source ↗. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources ↗ and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Dormskirk (talk) 19:34, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
:Hi, I wonder if you read my comment carefully enough to realise there is very unlikely to be a reliable PUBLISHED source. Before my edit the east wing was owned by the RGSC (see refs) then - apparently suddenly - became a council owned library (see ref). I had already edited the page. Cheers! Calc-flinta (talk) 19:44, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
::PS I made no reference to the £1 - the cost to Cornwall Council - as that is indeed hearsay. Though i heard it from a reliable source. Calc-flinta (talk) 19:50, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
:::I did read your comment - the issue is that, as you clearly already know, you should not be adding any material to wikipedia which does not come from an independent published source. I also read your comment that you are a member of the RGSC: please read WP:COI ↗. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 20:03, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
::::PS There must be something published...somewhere...on the society moving out. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 20:10, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
:::::I looked and looked! No doubt in the RGSC archives.....but they are not published. A history of the RGSC, up to the present day, would be a fascinating read! Even shortly after the building was completed - C19 - there were problems and the RGSC council appear to be rueing what they had taken on. Why the ceiling collapsed was because seagulls nested on the roof - and the debris blocked the downpipe. And - believe it or not - seagulls were the cause of the second roof failure. But I do not believe there are any published sources for the latter problem, though the first is in an annual report, or similar (unpublished) doc. Calc-flinta (talk) 20:16, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
::::Hi, well, if you have time you'll see I made several edits to the St John's Hall article - either adding new refs or using extra material from existing refs. But anyone reading the article - and checking the original dates of the sources - will note the 'missing' years in the history of the East Wing ....so changing "finally" to "after several years" just fills the gap, and also dispels any notion that the visit by the police was a factor! Thanks for the refs you've sent, btw. Calc-flinta (talk) 20:10, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
:::::No problem. Hopefully something more might turn up which we can use. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 20:14, 18 December 2022 (UTC)

:Hi Bearcat, thanks for the msg. And also thanks for editing the category for 'Alumni of Old Vic Theatre School' which I got a more competent-in-WP to set up. I'd like to add a rationale for setting up the Sedgwick Club category....but I do not know how. I've made over 1k edits on WP but they are all relatively trivial...and I have only just explored even making a redirect (fortunately someone finished what I started!). So.... how do I add my rationale for the Sedgwick Club category, please? Cheers, John / Calc-flinta BTW I am a geologist, was educated at Cambridge doing the Natural Sciences Tripos (which includes geology) ...and was a member of the Sedgwick Club. I see a category for Sedgwick Club members as no different to a cat for Old Vic Theatre School alumni ...and all the other theatre schools in the UK. Cambridge has an unusual system whereby students are simultaneously members of a college ...and of a dept/faculty (and most academics are not only members of the relevant dept/faculty but also of a college). The Sedgwick Club has its records going back to the foundation in 1880 archived ... I have yet to contact Sarah Marsh, the Sedgwick Museum Archivist, but that was next.
