Siouxsie and the Banshees

I'm not sure why you're referring to your changes as 'chronological', The Creatures formed in 1981, there shouldn't be any reason to put the band as a "collaboration", or in the 1993 time frame.

Curious as to why you deleted an edition to this page regarding a cover by the song which has been used in a recent upcoming game trailer, (and the reason for many to start searching out this song in general). The old revision was merely a mention and a link. Or was the link source not good enough? ~Neos Dionsysos~ (talk)

I think you're another Hipster with a very wrong opinion about Goth bands Carliertwo, first off AllTalk is not a "prestigious source" (you used plural, in actuality I only deleted the Alltalk source) when the opinion formed by the source was not even around when the album was created (Alltalk company was created in 1991, Juju was released in 1981) making their information second hand and opinions instead of facts. I used the Guardian newspaper articles (even used direct reference as [1] from an article asserting that Siouxsie and the Banshees is a Goth band, since that newspaper has been in existence since the 1800s, they had reporters back then directly talking to Siouxsie Sioux and band mates. To me there is no such thing as "post-punk", it is a made up term by a lazy mainstream magazine writer who couldn't really define the divergence from punk going into darker, more introverted lyrics with heavy bass lines, so instead of asking the artists or their managers what he was listening to he just decided to go with "post-punk", but really anything after punk chronologically could be called "post-punk" like gangster rap, grunge, new wave, shoegaze, etc. To me Siouxsie and the Banshees were a Punk and Goth band, "post-punk" to me is just a "safe" term people like you (most likely Hipster) use to put around music you like but don't like using the "bad/evil" Goth name to describe them. — Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by 67.83.143.151 ↗ (talk) 06:44, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Sex Pistols

Part of the problem is that your edit summary offered the claim that the "Paris gig was not interrupted due to Siouxsie." But that particular claim is made neither by the article--which says her swastika armband "caused a stir"--nor by Gimarc--who more specifically states that "she was punched by an outraged Arab man". Neither our article nor Gimarc specifies whether the incident took place at the gig, or before or after it, and in any case there is absolutely no claim that the gig was "interrupted" (there were frequently physical altercations at Sex Pistols gigs--they did not always necessitate interruptions). Does Blum--who does seem to be a strong source--actually say that the specific story of Siouxsie being punched is false? DocKino (talk) 19:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

The source I referenced--Gimarc--along with others mentions the incident and, on multiple occasions, Siouxsie's armband, so no, it did not strike me as trivial. However, if, as you say, Blum indicates that the incident took place when the Sex Pistols were not even present, it may not be appropriate to include. I'll take it to the article's Talk page for discussion.

Why don't you raise your concern about coverage of Rotten's penchant for wearing clothing with swastikas on the article's Talk page, as well, so others have the opportunity to weigh in. Questions to consider: Where in the article do you think discussion of the matter should be added? Do you happen to have read any high-quality sources that deal with the matter?

Siouxsie and the Banshees songs

Yes, the songwriters are referenced at ASCAP and the information taken from there. Unlike the record sleeve this is not a primary source. It is not possible to link to precise song at ASCAP, otherwise I would do so. I did state where the information came from in my initial edit. 
Bands do not write songs, anymore than bands play bass guitar, and without naming names, there is one "singer-songwriter" who doesn't actually write their songs - although you would never believe this from reading their publicity.
Further more, "Siouxsie and the Banshees" is a marketing name used by various people (band members change, don't they?), so saying a song was written by S&theB is completely meaningless.

Why are you placing both the articles for the Siouxsie and the Banshees albums as well as :Category:Siouxsie and the Banshees albums ↗ in :Category:Post-punk albums ↗? If all the albums are in :Category:Siouxsie and the Banshees albums ↗ and that category is in :Category:Post-punk albums ↗ then the individual album articles don't need to be. On the other hand, if only a few Siouxsie and the Banshees albums are post-punk, then only those albums should be categorized in :Category:Post-punk albums ↗ and :Category:Siouxsie and the Banshees albums ↗ should NOT be. The AN thread

Unless you have something positive or constructive to say, it is best not to say anything. Attacking other users is not going to gain you any sympathy, is confrontational, and is doing you and Wikipedia harm. The more respectful we are to each other, especially when in dispute, the better that Wikipedia works. I have a quote from Barack Obama on my talkpage, which is there to remind me how best to conduct myself: "I will listen to you, especially when we disagree."

Up to you what you do, all I can do is give you advice. I hope that when I give you advice that you think carefully about what I am saying, and only do it when you understand and agree with it. Don't simply do it because I say so. If you don't understand or agree with it, then say so to me so we can talk about it. OK? My suggestion now is for you to leave a brief message on the AN thread in which you apologise for any inappropriate behaviour which led to the thread being opened, and apologise for any heated remarks. If you feel resentful about doing that, go have a cup of tea, think about for a moment and reflect on why I am suggesting it, and the impact your apology will have on the others. What I have always found useful is to type out my heated impulsive response, but before posting it, to look at it again and reword it to take out intemperate language and personal comments. Sometimes it takes several rewordings, by which time my anger/frustration/outrage has calmed down, and I may at that point decide not to post at all, or what I do post is polite and temperate and to the point. I find that more satisfying than not posting at all. Or trying to post something appropriate while still heated (an irritable tone will come through). Or going for a walk and typing it out later. The actual act of typing out my anger/frustration/outrage is very helpful. It gets it out of my system. His name and image as a Banshees drummer are in a respectable reliable source, namely Jon Savage's England's Dreaming book. He had a bigger repertoire of Banshees songs than Marco or Sid ever did. Hi, Carliertwo. I'm going to drop the Siouxsie pages after adding the text, but I think you need to reread the album style guidance. The ratings box is for RS grades, scores, and ratings, whether they yet have matching text ... or even if text doesn't exist. These were often tied to biographical entries, whether Spin, AllMusic, MusicHound, Rolling Stone, Penguin, Martin Strong, Popoff, Colin Larkin, etc. Artists with large discographies--Sinatra, Presley, Davis, Cash--a publisher couldn't print these things if every album had corresponding text. I know that tone often doesn't come off accurately in WP, so I apologize, but if you don't like this you could raise the issue on the album talk page--you're not the only editor who takes a dim view of the ratings practice, or the box in general. I fixed the wrong citation template several more times, changing {{tlx|cite work}} to {{tlx|cite magazine}}, {{tlx|cite book}} to {{tlx|cite magazine}}, also replaced two {{tlx|cite book}} with {{tlx|cite magazine}}.

I corrected {{para|url-status|bot: unknown}} to {{para|url-status|live}} after verifying that these URLs were all live.

I corrected {{para|publisher|YouTube}} to {{para|via|YouTube}}.

I corrected incorrect archive dates.

I improved references in other small but important ways.

And yes, I removed deprecated archive.today links.

I put a lot of work into that edit. You reverted it with no explanation, just <code>Undid revision 1354264696 ↗ by Anomalocaris ↗ (talk)</code>. It should have been obvious that my edit was not vandalism, so if you disagreed with a portion of it, you could have edited just the changes you disagreed with, or you could have gone to the talk page. You should not have reverted the whole thing. Then you made another edit, nothing wrong with that, but because you made another edit, I couldn't re-revert you anymore.

I cited the authority that deprecates archive.today links.

I explained ''why'' I replaced {{Tlx|cite journal}}.

My edit was purposeful. I didn't just willy-nilly remove archive.today links. Whenever I removed a deprecated archive link where the original link was dead, I searched for a non-deprecated archive link at archive.org and installed one if available.

I replaced {{Tlx|citation}} templates with the appropriate <code><nowiki>{{cite}}</nowiki></code> template. As explained in WP:CITESTYLE ↗: "Citations within any given article should follow a consistent style." The <code><nowiki>{{cite}}</nowiki></code> templates are also known as Citation Style 1 ↗. {{Tlx|Citation}} generates Citation Style 2 ↗. Articles are not supposed to mix them.

I corrected YouTube citations that used {{Tlx|cite web}} to {{Tlx|cite AV media}}. In several places, I corrected the wrong cite template and used, for example, {{Tlx|cite tweet}} and {{tlx|cite AV media notes}}. I made numerous other important, useful improvements including correcting {{para|url-status|bot: unknown}}, correcting archive dates, and much more. I put a lot of work into that edit.

You reverted again, this time with edit summary "It is said that no new link to archivetoday was allowed after February 2026. Here I undid my last edit which was a mistake I had done. I rolled back to the version before the mistake. It is therecent archive links of 2026 that are corrupted. Those that were done years ago are clean." This is a misread of Wikipedia:archive.today guidance ↗, which says unambiguously and repleatedly, "'''we need everyone's help to replace or remove links to these websites'''". And again, it should have been obvious that my edit was not vandalism, so if you disagreed with a portion of it, you could have edited just the changes you disagreed with, or you could have gone to the talk page. You should not have reverted the whole thing.

Now you have made about 13 more edits, some of which restored some of my work, but for me to meticulously put back all of the improvements I made in my second edit would be a lot of work.

Since you messed it up, you should carefully inspect {{Diff|Siouxsie_Sioux|1354330628|prev|my edit of 19:20, 15 May 2026}} and assure that you have restored each of the improvements I made. And next time you disagree with an edit that appears to be thoughtful and comes with a detailed edit summary, think carefully before you revert. Is there anything the other editor did that might important? Maybe I should take it to the talk page before reverting?
