About the FOP shorts airdates

The airdates that were presented were actually correct, the reason they were changed was for consistency and accuracy + I don’t want to have to say this (I prefer not to be one of those nagging users) but they were never meant to be like that, as they have been proven wrong Xery1234 (talk) 15:46, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

But according to Wikipedia, the shorts aired in late 1998, and ended exactly one week before the official series premiered. Chadalvarez2021 (talk) 22:11, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

:The airdates presented before weren’t right, which is why I changed them back to the original version. Wikipedia isn’t always correct, which is why the website is free to edit and correct things. Xery1234 (talk) 00:16, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Problems with upload of File:Screen Shot 2020-09-06 at 8.43.44 AM.png

Thanks for uploading ''':File:Screen Shot 2020-09-06 at 8.43.44 AM.png ↗'''. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link ↗, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions ↗.

File copyright problem with File:Binac Specifications big.jpg

64px|left|alt=Image Copyright problem|link= ↗
Thank you for uploading :File:Binac Specifications big.jpg ↗.

This file is a derivative work ↗, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the file description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright ↗ very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the '''license''' and the '''source''' of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a '''copyright tag ↗''' to the image description page ↗.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in [{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=upload&user=Chadalvarez2021}} your upload log].

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. {{You can request undeletion}} Thanks again for your cooperation.<!-- Template:Di-no license-notice --> — Ирука13 ↗ 10:11, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

:Hi Chadalvarez2021. There's a problem with the permission you received for this file , :File:Screenshot 20241204-184404 YouTube.jpg ↗ and :File:Screenshot 20241204-182806 YouTube.jpg ↗. You asked for permission to use the photo on Wikipedia, but "Wikipedia only" or "educational use only" types of permission is not sufficient for Wikipedia's purposes, and the statement from the copyright holder is also too vague for Wikipedia's purposes. What's needed is :WP:CONSENT ↗ or something similar stating that the copyright holder is releasing the image under a specific license that's free enough for Wikipedia's purposes. Files with this type of permission are eligible for immediate speedy deletion per :WP:F3 ↗, but perhaps you can try :WP:PERMISSION ↗ to see whether the copyright holder might be willing to release the images under an acceptable free license. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:52, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
:As explained above, the permission statement you're referencing here ↗ is insufficient for Wikipedia's purposes. For Wikipedia use only or for educational use only are types of restrictions that aren't free enough for Wikipedia's purposes ↗. What's need is :WP:CONSENT ↗ or a mentioning by the copyright holders that they're releasing their work under one of the free licenses listed here ↗. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:16, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

:Reuploading this file under a different name wasn't necessary since the name of the other file could've been changed by requesting {{tlx|Rename media}} as explained in :WP:FNC ↗. It also doesn't change the fact that the licensing of this file still needs to be verified. The {{tlx|Cc-by-4.0}} you're using allows anyone anywhere in the world to download this image from Wikipedia at anytime and reuse for any purpose; this includes commercial reuse and derivative reuse. If the copyright holder is OK with that, then that's great; Wikipedia, however, needs some formal way of verifying that to be the case. Only the copyright holder can release their work under a "CC-by-4.0", and there needs to be some way to verify they've decided to use this particular license. You can't just can pick a this license on their behalf because you think they'd be OK with it; they need to explicitly say as much. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:18, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Serge, an Admin here on Wikipedia. I do appreciate your interest in improving ''Sonic'' articles. I also find all that old/obscure/behind the scenes stuff fascinating. But that said...I have to keep my personal interests separate from what Wikipedia allows. A lot of the stuff you keep adding, while fascinating, does not belong on Wikipedia.

For example, please be aware of WP:RSPYT ↗ - you can't be using YouTube videos uploaded by random people/fans. YouTube is generally only usable as a source if its uploaded by some official account. (For example, IGN ↗ is considered a reliable source, so by extension, their official YouTube account would be usable too.)

Anyways, please take some more time to learn what sort of sources are acceptable on Wikipedia so you don't have to keep seeing your work be undone. The original ''Sonic'' game is a pretty high traffic article with a bunch of people maintaining it, so its just going to keep getting (rightfully) rejected. Or alternatively, there's many popular ''Sonic'' fan wikis - Sonic Retro, Sonic Wiki Zone/Sonic Fandom, etc. They accept that sort of sourcing, so you may want to think about contributing there instead too.

Thanks. <span style="color:green">Sergecross73</span> <span style="color:teal">msg me</span> 16:35, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Please be mindful of the sources you're adding to articles. You've recently used both YouTube as a source (WP:SPS ↗), and Nintendo Everything (non-reliable per WP:VG/S ↗).
