25px|alt=|link= ↗ Hello, I'm Isabelle Belato. I noticed that you made a change to an article, :Horrible Histories troupe ↗, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation ↗ to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. <!-- Template:Huggle/warn-unsor-1 --><!-- Template:uw-unsourced1 --> Isabelle Belato <small>🏳🌈</small> 11:29, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for October 16
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Flag icons for languages ↗, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages French ↗ and Spanish ↗. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:53, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Flag icons for languages ↗
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I've put some citation needed templates on the page for Flag icons for languages ↗, specifically in the Criticism section which you created. In addition, I've put a "better source needed" template in the same section, since for an incendiary claim like calling flag icons harmful, it's better to cite a source related to the subject matter ↗ instead of a web design manual and a random YouTube video. On a related note, I've also removed the similar section you created on the page for Duolingo ↗ because of it carrying undue weight ↗ -- the aforementioned YouTube video did not mention Duolingo as far as I could see, making the only source there a blog ↗. Leafy46 (talk) 02:59, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
:I think you're right to do that for the reasons stated, though I would point out that the youtube video is published by a peer-reviewed linguist ↗, so I'd argue their opinion carries more weight than a random blog ↗ (also they do mention Duolingo by name ↗, though I agree that it is not central enough to deserve a reference on the page for Duolingo ↗; which isn't to say that there shouldn't at least be a link to Flag icons for languages ↗ there).
:I did some more looking and came up with this source ↗: an opinion piece for a not-unknown company ↗, but honestly it seems this topic hasn't yet spread deeply enough into the public consciousness to have many reliable sources. Despite that, the existence of such opinions is evident so I don't think it's much of a stretch to give it a reference on a page specifically about the thing being criticized.
:Thank you for taking the time to look over my edits. Citation unneeded (talk) 12:22, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
::Came across your additions and had to revert them. “Controversy” sections are almost always bad and need ''excellent'' sourcing; lightweight stuff like a YouTube video or a style manual doesn’t cut it since these are ''already'' non-ideal sources. If the “topic hasn’t spread much” you don’t lower your standards of sourcing for it. Dronebogus (talk) 14:39, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Help:IPA/Italian
Hello, I've just modified the footnote in the help page, rewording your suggestion. ~2025-39754-37 ↗ (talk) 18:20, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
:Ah, thanks! [''citation unneeded''] (talk) 03:55, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I've got a question about the talk page of Margherita Hack: if everybody in the discussion agreed to turn ['(h)ak] into ['ak] and if nobody agreed to remove the IPA, why is User:IvanScrooge98 free to ignore the community and to do whatever he likes with that IPA? ~2026-29818-2 ↗ (talk) 19:14, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
:You're quite right to query it. He is not free to do so. Given that he hasn't responded to my request to back his arguments up with facts, I think it's safe to assume that he doesn't have a leg to stand on, and would encourage you to re-add the consensus IPA and its citation to the lead, as someone who has presumably not been involved in the discussion so far.
