Your Andy Williams articles are brilliant. They are really well sourced. I've created a few classic pop articles over the years, and I have a collection of articles I'd like to create here, if you're stuck for ideas :) Gareth E Kegg (talk) 00:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Andy Williams
Hi Danaphile,
I have quite a bit of Andy Williams on vinyl. If you need/want a scan of original LP jackets or 45rpm label scans of a particular recording, I'm likely able to help. Andy Williams Discography and recording dates
Danaphile, do you have any kind of complete discography of Andy Williams with recording dates? Something showing which songs were recorded on which dates?Bellczar (talk) 07:42, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
: I'm working on a discography right now, but from what I've seen on Wikipedia, recording dates aren't usually incorporated into a discography page. That's why I've included them on the album pages I've created if the dates were available. Some of his Columbia albums were reissued with specific dates for each song indicated in the CD booklet, but the majority of those from the 1960s did not have that information included. The dates I've included on the pages for the albums he did for Cadence came from an article in Billboard magazine in which the singles had specific dates but the recording dates for albums did not specify which song was recorded on which day. Everything I have right now is already posted on the page of the album where the song was first included. Danaphile (talk) 14:21, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
::: Thanks for quick reply. Do you have recording dates for singles, especially those not included on albums? I would be interested in seeing them offline and not necessarily posting them on Wikipedia. Do you have any plans to write up his 1954 Label X sessions?Bellczar (talk) 02:41, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
:::: I do have a paragraph about Label X written. As far as non-album singles, I got my information from "The Complete Columbia Chart Singles Collection." I'm away from home because of a death in the family and probably wouldn't be able to give you any specific dates until September when I get back. Did you have specific songs you were interested in? Certification updates
First off, Andy Williams's 1984 " Greatest Love Classics" Album was certified Gold...... Second, We got a problem. Remember when you fixed my " The Very Best of Andy Williams " Mistake ? Apparently, there are three albums with the same name and two of them were awarded Silver Certification on July 22, 2013. If you look up Andy Williams Albums with Gold Certification, You will find an album released on 10/5/2009 titled, " The Very Best of Andy Williams ". That Album got Gold. Now if you look up Andy Williams Albums with Silver Certfication, You will find that the 2009 Album did not get Silver at all. Instead, Two Albums of the Same Name were released in 1996 and 2000 and they got Silver Certfication. <small class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by 64.30.97.95 ↗ (talk) 21:11, 27 May 2016 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:Unsigned IP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Okay, the 2009 Compilation Album, " The Very Best of Andy Williams " was awarded Gold by the BPI without it being awarded Silver first.... that was why I was confused. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by 64.30.97.95 ↗ (talk) 18:01, 15 July 2016 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
:Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I had a busy summer. I wrote to the BPI about ''The Very Best of Andy Williams'', and I received a response from someone in their research department who was very appreciative of what you found. He wrote, "Unfortunately at the moment our online database has no way of telling them apart, so the certifications get bundled together. This is because quite often titles get re-released, and if we were to set the automated database so that it created a new record based on revised release dates, then quite a few reissued albums would end up having multiple entries. Obviously, the downside is that these wrongly combined entries happen instead, but we'll have to think about if there's another way around it next time there's some work done on the back end." So that's something for us to look forward to. Danaphile (talk) 18:13, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
1966 onward ?
I notice that for the Andy Williams Albums from 1962 to 1965ish, you added some new information or at least reconfigured them. Are you going to do the same for Williams's Albums from 1966 onward ? <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by Jojoju1998 (talk • contribs ↗) 03:59, 2 April 2017 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Re: Source for older Australian certifications
Hi, responding to your message on my talk page, unfortunately I don't know of a reliable source for pre-1989 Australian (ARIA) certifications. These were not annotated on the printed ARIA chart until April 1989 or thereabouts. Some earlier (1988) certifications are listed on the annual charts on the ARIA website, but it only goes back to 1988 (the year that the ARIA chart commenced being produced in-house). If you are not aware, there is an ARIA certifications subforum here, where maybe you could ask - http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp?todo=subforum&subforum=46&pages=1 . To my knowledge, though, there is no publication that lists pre-1988 ARIA certifications. Also, the platinum and gold certification levels were higher pre-1989 - it was 100,000 shipments for platinum, and 50,000 shipments for gold. It appears to have been lower (50k for platinum, 25k for gold) earlier in the decade, though.Nqr9 (talk) 23:53, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
:Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate your input. —Danaphile (talk) 05:00, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Spandau Ballet release dates
Hi,
It's great what you've done with the Spandau albums and singles. Am surprised they had been so lacking in content on Wikipedia prior to your work! Anyway, I don't completely trust the release dates given in the George Gimarc book. Some in the book are right (as I've corroborated with other sources) but he also gives release dates of Tuesday to Thursday as well as at the weekend, which I'm pretty sure was never done at the time in the UK – records were either released on Friday (particularly in the early '80s) or Monday (particularly from '84 onwards). Note I am not 100% sure on this, but it is what I have gathered. All the sources I've managed to find on Spandau release dates say Friday, whereas Gimarc (apart from a few) says Monday. Looking at other Chrysalis releases at the time, they were released on Fridays, so I would have thought all of Spandau's releases were on that day as well. I have a source and will change the dates for "Muscle Bound"/"Glow" (although confusingly it was reviewed in ''Record Mirror'' the week before so am assuming that was a pre-release). I will leave the other singles as they are as I can't find any evidence to change their release dates.
Finally, I'm assuming/hoping you're going to be creating an article for "Communication". ''Smash Hits'' gives a date of 28 January 1983, but (again it's mainly conjecture this) I think it was released a week later on 4 February. I have two reasons for this: first is that if it were released on the 28th, it would have charted on the ''Record Business'' chart released on 31 Jan ↗ (below the top 30 was based on airplay and sales). However, it charted in a low position the following week ↗, which fits with a 4 Feb release date. The second reason is that on Ukmix ↗, the weekly top 200 from 1983 onwards is being published. If "Communication" had been released on 28 Jan, it would at least, given the popularity of Spandau, have entered the chart on the week ending 5 Feb, but instead it didn't enter until 12 Feb.
I hope that all makes sense and apologies for going on, DPUH (talk) 12:48, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
:Thank you so much for the corrections! It's funny you should mention ''Smash Hits'' with regard to "Communication". My practice has been to move on to the next article for a couple of weeks before posting one that I've finished so that I come back to it with fresh eyes to catch any mistakes, and because the Gimarc book only goes through 1982, I had to start looking at magazines beyond just the reviews to see if I could find release dates. I've always lived in the U.S. and never really looked at the UK ones before I delved into the Spandau catalog. So I was going to be posting 28 January, and your logic makes perfect sense. How would you cite a release date like that when what makes sense is not explicitly stated? Danaphile (talk) 13:53, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
::If I were doing it, I just wouldn't give a citation and if someone challenged it (which is probably unlikely), I'd explain why or direct them here. I just don't think there is a way you can cite it, as there is no explicit evidence and it's more of an educated guess. DPUH (talk) 18:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
:::Hi again, a slight side note... I've just been trying to find a source for the release date of "Gold". ''Record Mirror'' says Monday 1 August, but according to a tweet ↗ on the band's official account, it was released on Friday 5 August. Not the most reliable source, but it shows that even the 'reliable' papers at the time made mistakes (such is our luck!). DPUH (talk) 19:01, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
::::Thanks for the advice and the tweet info. My schedule won't be allowing as much time to work on it as I've had lately, but I'm planning to work on all of the releases in their catalog. Any discoveries are most welcome! Danaphile (talk) 19:26, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Undefined reference
HI, in this edit ↗ to I'll Fly for You ↗ you introduced an sfn reference to "Hadley 2004", but you did not define the reference. This means that nobody can look it up, and adds the article to :Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors ↗. If you could fix it that would be great. DuncanHill (talk) 10:19, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

MOS:COLHEAD ↗
Hello. You should probably avoid doing this ↗ to chart tables so much or at all if you can avoid it, because it's actually a violation of MOS:COLHEAD ↗. Typically we prefer to separate tables. I'm aware plenty of other articles do it, but they should not also. It should be worked on to be removed, not introduced into more articles. Thanks. <b><span style="color: #FF6347;">Ss</span><small><span style="color: #1E90FF;">112</span></small></b> 03:08, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Undefined harvnb references in Through the Barricades
Hi, in this edit ↗ you added harvnb references to "Kemp 2004", but there is no such work listed,. This means that nobody can look them up. It also adds the article to :Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors ↗. It's possible you meant "Kemp 2009" (same surname, different year), or "Hadley 2004" (same year, different surname), or perhaps you actually did mean "Kemp 2009" but forgot to list the work. If you could fix the slip it would be appreciated. DuncanHill (talk) 13:34, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:MathisHowtoHandleaWoman.jpg
64px|left|alt=|link= ↗
Thank you for uploading ''':File:MathisHowtoHandleaWoman.jpg ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline ↗ is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag ↗; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗.
