:Ryd, Linköping ↗

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of :Ryd, Linköping ↗, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://wiki.xiaoyaozi.com/en/Ryd.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy ↗ for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:59, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Ryd ↗ cut and paste move
25px ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give {{#if:|: ↗|a page}} a different title by copying its content and pasting it into {{#if:|: ↗|another page with a different name}}. This is known as a "cut and paste ↗ move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history ↗ which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen ↗. {{#if:|{{{2}}}|Thank you.}} <!-- Template:uw-c&pmove--> Somno (talk) 02:39, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
:I guess you haven't seen this ↗ (and who could blame you?). I'm well aware of page moves and why cut-and-paste should be avoided. I made the assessment that the history of those parts of the text in Ryd ↗ that shouldn't be moved was significant in itself, and did in fact note the editors that had contributed to the text in Ryd, Linköping ↗ in my edit summary here ↗, in order to comply with GFDL as far as practically possible and ensure traceability. Apparently other people made another assessment, and thought it unneccessary to include who wrote e.g. the etymological information in Ryd ↗ in the edit history there, and I can accept that. //Essin (talk) 15:08, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
::No, I don't check edit counts before posting messages. I saw two messages on your talk page, a welcome message and a template message, so assumed you were new. I tend to use the "cut-and-paste" message regardless of whether people are new, simply because it says a lot of useful information and it's better than typing it all out each time. (You might like to read the last paragraph of the essay you cited, simply because it says what I'm trying to say in a better way.) It didn't appear to me that you were aware of cut-and-paste moves, hence the message. Anyway, I was only trying to help, so in response to that it's probably nicer to be polite ↗, because it was not meant to be insulting. Somno (talk) 00:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited République des Sept-Dizains ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Goms ↗ (check to confirm ↗ | fix with Dab solver ↗). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. <small>Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.</small>
