Request

Hello. I noticed that you like adding people to “Deaths in [insert date here]”. You have already done that with one of my pages: Edmond Leveugle ↗ in January 1986.

Well, luckily for you, I have created over 800 pages, most of whom individuals, and most of whom with known date deaths, so... You check them here ↗.

Kind regards. Barr Theo (talk) 00:59, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Genuine Question

You really like death huh?, if so what infatuates you the most. 2600:1009:A121:76B5:4A3E:7EF0:6251:670D ↗ (talk) 00:28, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

Your recent changes w.r. to the Deaths in [Month] lists

Hi, I noticed you made massive additions to the Deaths in [Month] articles. However, all additions to (list) pages should be referenced ↗. As a consequence I started removing the unreferenced entries from these lists (quite a task). There is an additional big benefit requiring list entries to cite their source: it prevents these lists to become bloated with lesser figures distracting from (more) notable entries. You can read more about it here ↗.

So if you want to help improve the quality of the Deaths in [Month] articles you could help by adding citations to existing unreferenced entries. You could also cross-check the stated death dates in the corresponding Wikidata ↗ items. You could start in 1984 and work your way back. Kind regards, Mill 1 (talk) 10:58, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

::Update: I reverted your entries w.r. to the period 1990-1994. By the way I also noticed this regarding your additions:
::The far majority are persons who are quite unnotable. They have almost no monthly views and hardly any incoming links; most of them are almost wiki orphans ↗. Are you using any filtering at all or are just dumping everyone with a bio in the lists? What would be the reason for that? I spent a lot of time cleansing the period 1990-2005 in that regard so I hope my work won't be undone. :Mill 1 (talk) 21:01, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

Please add edit summaries.

Hi, Another finding regarding your editing activities: please add edit summaries that explain what you're doing. Regards, Mill 1 (talk) 05:06, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

Follow the guidelines of the Deaths in [Month] lists: state the cause of death, if known

Hi, Another finding regarding your editing activities: your additions do not state the cause of death. They should, if known. Are you planning to add the causes of death to the referenced additions?
Also, could you respond to the topics raised here? Thanks. Mill 1 (talk) 05:14, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

Deaths in [Month] lists: do not use IMDB ↗ as a source.

Hi, I removed the entries ↗ in page Deaths in January 1990 that state IMDB as a source. IMDB is not a reliable source ↗, except as an external link. Please inform yourself regarding RS. I noticed you also added them to the deaths lists regarding the eighties. When will you fix this? Mill 1 (talk) 07:26, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

:I can try to see what I can do, however, I'm just frustrated. I spend quite a lot of hours adding these names to the lists and and to see all of it reverted just frustrates me. I do get I was suppose to cite the entries but I also figured, if you click on the article, their DOB and DOD would be there as well with a link stating them. Had my edits been noticed a lot sooner when I started adding the names, specifically back in March or April, I would have started to cite more and do lesser entries such as actors with only IMDB links. I'm not mad at you, I get it, you are following the rules, but this just makes me lose interest in editing. I can keeping add athletes with articles from Olympedia, any of the reference sites, since they seem to be easier to cite, if they are alright with you. I also figured with the death by year lists, they were going to be more modeled like current/recent deaths and the lists from the 15 years or so. Sincerely, Falloutguy321 (talk) 13:17, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
::Hi @Falloutguy321, I really can understand how frustrating it most be to see all that work reverted (I had the same experience years ago). I am also happy to read that you are not mad at me. We all try to create a great encyclopedia but that process can sometimes be painful.
::There's an explanation why your edits were not noticed before. Since 2018 I've concerned myself with the older Deaths per Month pages (dpm's). For six years I almost continously updated and created dpm's regarding the years 1990-2005. There are other editors who contribute to these deaths pages regularly but I did the majority. During that time there were also other (new) editors whose work I had to correct. You are not the first whose additions have been reverted.
::I think that during those years the other regular editors increasingly started to count on me to do the quality checks. Last november I updated the last dpm in 'my' period 1990-2005. After that I took a break from Wikipedia until now to build a campervan. It is very unfortunate that the self-correcting mechanism of Wikipedia did not work in this case. Some other Wikipedian should have alerted you months ago to the guidelines that are stated at the top of every dpm.
::Not that it is of any use for you but I am going to discuss this on the Death project page, I alone cannot be responsible guarding the quality of the dpm's. I hope this explanation alleviates your frustration somewhat. Best Regards Mill 1 (talk) 21:16, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
