Infoboxes
Howdy. Concerning Delcy Rodriguez ↗, we no longer put '''Acting''' underneath a political office, in the infobox. We put '''Acting''' in front of the office. See 2018 RFC on infoboxes ↗. -- GoodDay (talk) 06:00, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
:Alright, thank you. Fixingthelies2025 (talk) 06:08, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
:Shouldn't this mean that on Marco Rubio's page on all his Acting positions it shouldn't say "Acting" under it but next to it? Or is it different for that. Fixingthelies2025 (talk) 06:10, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia ↗;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines ↗;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system ↗.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic ↗. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{tl|Ctopics/aware}} template.
}} Day Creature (talk) 15:19, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello Mentor, I am trying to create a wikipedia article,but i am facing some issue . Could you please guide ma on what i need to improve ? THANK YOU --Suresh Singh THAKUR (talk) 10:51, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hey there! WP:HTCAP ↗ helps explain this. However, I recommend you to create a draft then submitting it for review before publishing this as this makes it less likely to be nominated for deletion. How to create a draft can be explained at WP:DRAFT ↗, be sure to ask more questions when needed, and happy editing! Fixingthelies2025 (talk) 15:34, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from Kgwediwise (10:42, 1 July 2026)
Hello,
I have a picture my father took of Col.John Stapp's rocket sled taken on 11 Dec 1954. My father was a photographer in the US Air Force.
A low resolution photo of my fathers picture, appeared in Life magazine on Jan 3 1954. Page 92. The picture is accredited to "US Air Force Photo".
I have the original picture. I think it would be a good addition to the Col, John Stapp wiki page, or maybe some other page about the rocket sled.
I would like to learn how to change the wiki page to include the picture.
As an alternate, I could make a wiki page of my father and show his famous picture.
I am overwhelmed with the need to "prove" my father took the picture. I only have his word.
Can you help me with any advice?
Kgwedi --Kgwediwise (talk) 10:42, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! If the photo was made by your dad and it is accredited by the U.S. Government as apart of his job, it is in the Public Domain by U.S. law and you may upload it. If its not accredited by the U.S. Government, is there any copyright on the file? If so, I would try to check if there is one, some copyright's allow you to upload with a Creative Commons License. However, this is not true for all Copyrighted material. It is recommended you upload directly under Wikimedia Commons instead of doing a cross-wiki upload.
:Once uploaded, to add it to an article, you should go to the article's edit page then click the photo in the top. Enter the name of the file that you uploaded to commons and it will automattically paste the image in. Be sure to ask more questions regarding this if you are confused. Fixingthelies2025 (talk) 17:18, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks very much for your reply. I checked with my Brother, and asked if it was OK with him if I allowed Wikipedia to add Dads picture to a web page.
::My Brother said, Wikipedia can only use the picture if it would be would be accredited to my Father. Even though the picture was published in Life Magazine, the picture they used was a very low resolution picture.
::Neither of us have any "proof" that my father took the picture. But we were both present a few hours later when he developed the film. My Father was very proud of that picture. There were 6 other Air Force photographers taking pictures that day and none of them got the shot. The sled was moving at about 632 MPH at the time of the shot.
::Would it be possible to make an Article based on just the picture and the story behind it? Again there is so little proof of anything.
::As a reference, could my Brother and I swear that what we say is true. The US Air Force would never admit to who took the picture. They always say "It is an official USAF photo."
::Any suggestion as to how I could get the picture and the credit to my father onto a Wikipedia Page? Or should I just do a You Tube video about it?
::Thanks again
::Dan Kgwediwise (talk) 15:25, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
:::One way you can accredit it is if you upload it directly to Wikimedia Commons. It is much easier to do so there than it is to do a cross-wiki upload. Likewise, the photo was taken on behalf of the US government correct? If it was taken on behalf of the US Government, it would be in the public domain by US Law. But if it’s not upload it as a CC by 4.0 license as long it’s free to use. As for an article, I would upload it to an article it’s relevant to, as making an article on it could be deleted. You could however, make one about your dad if he has sufficient secondary sources. If you do plan to make one I recommend making a <nowiki>WP:DRAFT ↗</nowiki> first. Once again, feel free to ask any questions. If you’re still confused you may watch a YouTube video on it, ask more questions, or visit the Wikimedia Commons Help Desk. Happy editing! Question from Asiphe Rasimeni on Talk:Nasha Jurm Aur Gangsters ↗ (10:50, 1 July 2026)
Hello how do i create a Facebook account? --Asiphe Rasimeni (talk) 10:50, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hey there, if you’re asking how to add someone’s Facebook to a page, we usually don’t. If you’re asking how to sign up for an account please sign up on the facebook website, but for future reference the Wikipedia Mentorship system is for help regarding editing. Question from Quackman1500 (09:08, 3 July 2026)
there seems to be an error regarding the last track on Pieces Of Africa. Dumisani joins David Pauli & the Interfaith Gospel Choir of Oakland. --Quackman1500 (talk) 09:08, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hey there! If you find a error on a page, you can edit it. If you describe the error more clearly, I can more clearly tell you how to fix it. But remember, on pages that you are locked from editing (often locked to Autoconfirmed or Extended Confirmed, but sometimes locked to Admins) you can make an edit request in that article. Hope this helps a bit. Fixingthelies2025 (talk) 12:51, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Deepandersingh (06:45, 6 July 2026)
Hi how to edit page where i am thinking the information can be enhanced or updated --Deepandersingh (talk) 06:45, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hey there! You can edit pages by clicking “Edit Source” on a computer or the pencil on Mobile. However some pages are locked up autoconfirmed users which require 10 edits and 4 days within your first edit. On a Computer Autoconfirmed pages will have a gray lock. Sometimes you might see pages locked to Extended Confirmed Users. In which to edit those pages you must have 500 edits and your account must have been registered for 60 days. Happy editing! Question from Mompieboy (16:04, 6 July 2026)
Hello I would like to start a few pages on female musicians that are well known and experienced who are not on wiki. How do I go about that please? --Mompieboy (talk) 16:04, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! WP:HTCAP ↗ explains this. However I recommend you create a WP:DRAFT ↗ as that makes it less likely it gets deleted. Make sure they match notability requirements which can be found at WP:NOTE ↗. Make sure it has mainly '''secondary''' sources in the article aswell. Happy editing! You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard
Hi, Fixingthelies2025. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard ↗. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please take the {{slink|WP:MNB|Survey|nopage=yes}} when you get there! Mathglot (talk) 02:59, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
