Hi Gab4Gab. In reference to your recent edit on GIIS Wikipedia page, I make the following observations. The current content on the page under section 'Use of Technology in Education' is wrong. I work for GIIS, and it is not our policy to give away devices belonging to the company to a user. These are company devices and have to be returned to the company after the parent/student leaves school. There is no reference to this company policy expect on our own website and FAQ page. I request you to restore the current information archived earlier as it is factual. Also I would like to bring to your attention that the earlier information about ' students are permitted to take the devices as their own after graduation or leaving the school if they so wish' also lacks citation. It is not from a reliable source, and I fear it is from someone trying to spread false information about the school. Hope you will help restore the changes made by me.
I would also like to bring to your notice that GIIS wikipedia page is regularly vandalised by miscreants who insert foul language next to the names of our Management personnel. There is also false information on the use of Sanskrit in the school curricula, which I have changed multiple times, but which seems to change back to false information. Sanskrit as a subject is optional in Singapore, unlike in India. I do hope Wikipedia has stricter rules in place for vandals, and keep a hawk-eye on them as much as they do on genuine content providers like me. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><span class="autosigned" style="font-size:85%;">— Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by Rupali Karekar (talk • contribs ↗) 14:33, 12 January 2021 (UTC)</span> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
:{{reply to|Rupali Karekar}} I reverted your edit because you did not provide a citation to a reliable published source. You can again add your material if you wish, as long as you provide the required citation(s). Meanwhile I've removed that section and the one below it because neither was sourced. Verifiability ↗ is an important policy of Wikipedia. I remember your Sanskrit edits. The source cited clearly said the subject was compulsory and yet you changed that to optional multiple times in the article without providing a source to support your version. I suggest you make more of an effort to follow Wikipedia policy. Repeatedly adding unsourced content after you are warned that published sources are needed could be considered disruptive editing which can result in being blocked from editing. Hello {{u|Gab4gab}}, I noticed you reverted ↗ an edit by an IP on the article as it looked like the IP had removed sourced content. Upon reading the actual reference I believe the IP was right. The source given is only about the UAE policy of 96h PCR test validity for arriving passengers and does not mention the school, misbehavior by the school, risks for pupils due to the school's actions or a general 96h PCR test validity. I have thus removed the content as original research ↗. NJD-DE (talk) 19:57, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Tasmanian University Student Association
Hi there Gab4gab you have edited content on our Wikipedia page that we have only just updated. The recent update had approval from the management of this organisation and i would really appreciate it if you could restore my edits. While I am aware that some content had been removed, management felt that a simpler page was preferred. thank you <!-- Template:Unsigned --><span class="autosigned" style="font-size:85%;">— Preceding unsigned ↗ comment added by ChurchillAve (talk • contribs ↗) 03:02, 26 February 2021 (UTC)</span> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
:{{Reply to|ChurchillAve}} I've begun a discussion regarding this on the article talk page which is the best place to reach consensus. See Talk:Tasmanian_University_Student_Association#Major revisions by ChurchillAve ↗. You should go there to make your case. I note that you say "we have only just updated" which suggested your account is being used by a group rather than an individual. Group use of an account is not allowed by Wikipedia policy ↗ Gab4gab (talk) 17:29, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Glenwood High School
I noted that you have deleted a huge amount of data under the Notable Alumni section. I understand that one needs notability to create and justify a wiki-page for a natural or legal person and I know the requirements of NOTABLE. Secondly, you need a valid citation to support any data quoted on a page. For a listing of person notable to the school in the Alumni section [not on their own pages]) you need a citation. You don't need a citation AND a link to a wiki-page to make that list notable in terms of the school. So I have retained the deletions where there are no citations but I have reverted the deletions that had valid citations in accordance with WP:ANYBIO ↗. Its always better to discuss first before deleting such huge chunks of data. Farawayman (talk) 23:23, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
:Apologies - I have just read Wikipedia:Notable alumni ↗ and you do indeed need both a Link to a Wiki-page and a citation. Farawayman (talk) 23:39, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
::{{Reply to|Farawayman}} No need to apologize. The notable alumni list often has surprises for editors and can lead to extended debates. Many schools have an alumni honor roll and often editors want to add all of those names to the list. I understand it's disturbing to have a large amount of work reverted but everything is available in the edit history. I expect that a least some of the names I removed will eventually be re-added after either a biography article is written or convincing sources are referenced. It is unfortunate that we've been in conflict recently. I edit primarily school articles and try to follow the advice at WP:WPSCH/AG ↗. I appreciate all the work you've put into the article and your willingness to discuss issues. Gab4gab (talk) 00:45, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Hal Lindes
April 2021 -
"''I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Hal Lindes, but you didn't provide a reliable source.''"
I included a reference to the Wikipedia entry for the BBC TV series ''Between the Lines ↗'' and it is mentioned on that page that Hal Lindes composed the theme music for the series. Implicitly, the reference is thus any publicly available copy of the TV programme as Hal Lindes will be found on the closing credits. Indeed, this is where I saw his name after watching repeats of the series on BBC 4. 31.125.76.2 ↗ (talk) 17:17, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Just checked Wiki page. Sorry, it looks as if composer was somebody else, but performed by Hal Lindes. 31.125.76.2 ↗ (talk) 17:31, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
BTW. WRT, not written by me but I have a reference for: "''and a TRIC award for Best TV Theme Music.[citation needed]''"
https://www.apmmusic.com/artists-composers/hal-lindes
"TRIC award for Best TV Theme Music – THIEF TAKERS." 31.125.76.2 ↗ (talk) 17:39, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
:I've replied on your talk page. Gab4gab (talk) 19:39, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
::Sources:
::Confusingly this implies he did compose the theme(?) music! "''Between the Lines - Composer''" - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0511771/
::Hal Lindes's own website - http://hallindes.com/discography.html - "''Between the Lines''"
::The Wikipedia page for "''Between the Lines''" credits Colin Towns as the "composer". But ''his'' website does not seem to mention BtL. However, the Wikipedia page for Colin Towns does say he composed the music for BtL. This also says he did: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0870061/
::So, theme music composed by Colin Towns, played by Hal Lindes? Or theme music by Hal Lindes, incidental music by Colin Towns? 31.125.76.2 ↗ (talk) 23:05, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Xibalba's Madre Mia album
Hey I noticed that you seem to have a really bad misunderstanding how sourcing from Allmusic works, I noticed this when you added "pop rock" to the genre of this hardcore album ↗ and then continuously reverted the proceeding edits of editors who were trying to fix this very erroneous claim just because the sidebar of Allmusic said it's "pop rock". Well I'm here to inform you that you should take look at WP:A/S ↗; '''AllMusic's genre sidebar should be avoided. Previous discussions at WP:ALBUMS and RSN have evinced that they can be incongruous with the reviewer's prose, which should take precedent over the sidebar.''' So yeah, the sidebar of Allmusic means virtually nothing, and trust me when I say that that album is verrrrrrryyyyyyyyy far from "pop rock" my friend. Second Skin (talk) 20:21, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
:{{Reply to|Second Skin}} My apologies, today's my day to learn something new. Gab4gab (talk) 20:29, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
can you create a page for my school in sinhala ?
Creation of this page (Draft:ශ්රී සුමංගල ජාතික පාසල - නිල්දණ්ඩාහින්න) is currently restricted to administrators because the page title matches an entry on the local or global blacklists.
:{{reply to|Tharusha Theekshana}} sorry, I can't locate the draft you refer to. I wouldn't be inclined to create a school article if the school wasn't clearly notable. Gab4gab (talk) 16:24, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Changes to GIIS Wikipedia
Hi Gab4Gab. I am Rupali Karekar I contacted you last on January 2021. I spoke to you last about the changes to the GIIS Wikipedia page. At the time, I had brought to your attention that some changes are made to the factual accuracy of GIIS Brand on its Wiki page by miscreants playing the truant. I work for the company so I should know. These changes made by unauthorized people are falling through the scrutiny cracks, but Every time I have made a change, you have been prompt enough to cross-check.
This time around, someone changed the fact that GIIS is a Singapore-headquartered school. They replaced Singapore with Hyderabad throughout the page, and it has gone unnoticed. I have corrected the changes now, but I am unable to figure out who is tampering with our official page time and again. Requesting you to help.
{{Reply to|Rupali Karekar}} I've responded on your talk page. Gab4gab (talk) 15:36, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Ysgol Penglais
Hello Gab5gab, thank you for pointing out that my citation did not refer to Ysgol Penglais. I had copied the wrong reference from the Andrew John article. I hope what I have now put is OK. I shall also include the citation as a multiple reference on the Andrew John page itself. As you say, his education was not properly referenced there.Ntmr (talk) 14:09, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
:{{Reply to|Ntmr}} Thanks for cleaning that up. I often see mentions of high school in biographies that are appear along with higher education with only the later supported by a citation. Gab4gab (talk) 18:56, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
@Gab5gab: can you point me to any Wikipedia policy on WHO should be counted as a Notable Alumnus? Clearly Andrew John would qualify in respect of Ysgol Penglais, but I was considering who was named on the University of Reading ↗ page; someone had deleted most that I had seen a year or two ago, and those that were left were a random selection. I deleted the few that remained, leaving a link to the Alumni List. But is there any guidance giving criteria to be applied to (a) schools and (b) colleges and universities?Ntmr (talk) 19:31, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
:{{Reply to|Ntmr}} opinions differ and there is a recent discussion related to this on the school articles talk page, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Schools#Do_alumni_need_a_Wikipedia_article? ↗. There is some guidance in both the school and university article advice essays. (WP:WPSCH/AG ↗ and WP:HED/AG ↗) My view is that an alumnus is any former student/attendee, whether they graduated or not. A notable alumni needs to qualify for a Wikipedia biography article. The policy that applies is not very specific to the issue: WP:LISTBIO ↗. There are more essays: Wikipedia:Notable_alumni ↗ and WP:ALMA ↗. Many schools and universities maintain list of alumni they consider notable. Their criteria for notability is not the same as what we use here at Wikipedia and they have a bias toward promoting their former students. So I view their lists as most useful for confirming that names are former attendees. Just my opinion. Gab4gab (talk) 21:28, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Brooks College content update
Thanks for your message, the reason I deleted the school closure part is because the Brooks college is active now (please check the status from this link: https://bebizfile.sos.ca.gov/Certification/index?certificateNumber=Y8M7G4Y), I don’t want people to think this college is closed, so I will delete the closure part again. Thanks!
:{{tps}} This is a new entity incorporated '''yesterday'''. This appears to be a WP:COI ↗ editor attempting to take over the article for the original school, which closed 14 years ago. Meters (talk) 04:39, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Kindly explain your reasoning
Hi Gab4gab,
Could you kindly explain your reasoning behind constantly flagging the edits to the page Vinod G. Khandare ↗ as COI?
Fuwimo2021 (talk) 14:39, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
:{{Reply to|Fuwimo2021}} if you review the article history you'll find that I haven't flagged any edits as COI. What I have done is revert the removal of the COI tag because it has been done without justification. The tag has been removed multiple times, most recently at 12:25, 17 September 2021 by Veekay2020. I've asked Veekay2020 for their reasoning for removal of the tag and they have not yet responded. The article continues to be cluttered with multiple citations where one would suffice ↗ - suggesting that some editors are attempting to promote the subject. Katherine Parr (actress)
Hi {{ping|Gab4gab}}, I was looking over the Katherine Parr (actress) ↗ article last night and I think it's appropriate that we restore the death details. The British Film Institute and Aveleyman are two places which pass WP:RS that give a 2009 death year, and the GRO Index and Ancestry both hold the death record (I've put a screenshot of it here ↗ in case you can't access it manually). The only claim that she was still alive that I can find is from User:WelshDragon18 and a random IP which has similar editing patterns to WelshDragon18. I had him/her permanently blocked from Wiki earlier this year for persistent vandalism, which included, but was not limited to, resurrecting dead people and killing off living people. He/she then returned under the sock puppet account User:Susan1621, which I also had blocked! Their claim that she appears in the 2020 electoral register is utter nonsense. I checked this last night. The last time she appeared on it was in 2003 (the fact that she didn't appear on it between 03–09 may suggest invalidity/a move to a care home). If there are no objections, I'll restore the death date. Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 20:02, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

I removed the notability tag from this article; I'm not sure where you were searching, but I was able to find at least two in-depth "mainstream critical reviews" from major newspapers on ProQuest. I'm not sure whether you have access to Wikipedia Library, but it has ProQuest access, and I would suggest searching it when looking for book reviews, especially pre-1990s. Collaboration on Film Editor-related Wikipedia Pages
I saw that you edited Conrad A. Nervig ↗'s Wikipedia page over a period of 15 years. You have done an amazing job during that time! I found an insanely useful resource that could help both of us. It's called the ACE Second Decade Anniversary Book ↗. It has many biographies and deaths of various film editors that have never been posted on the internet before. Disclaimer, some of the death dates may be inaccurate. For example, they listed Alma Macrorie ↗'s death date as September 12, 1969 instead of June 28, 1970. But from my research, the rest of the death dates are accurate.
Here's some changes that I've made using that book as a source:
- Conrad A. Nervig ↗ - I used multiple sources to highlight his time in the military before he began work as film editor.
- American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film ↗ - They gave out TWO awards in 1969!
- George Boemler ↗ - I completed his birth and death date using a combination of Ancestry.com (which I didn't cite) and the ACE book (which I did cite).
- George Tomasini ↗ - Added more context to his death date using a partially available film journal and the ACE book in hand.
:Thank you for your message. Although I do sometimes edit film articles my current approach is to randomly view articles rather than concentrate on any particular areas. I do hope you continue to enjoy your time with Wikipedia and I appreciate the work you are doing. Gab4gab (talk) 14:38, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

- An RfC ↗ has resulted in a broad prohibition ↗ on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.

- Following a request for comment ↗, there is a new policy ↗ outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts ↗. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ↗ ahead of time. - Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account ↗ associated with their edits.
- Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory ↗ is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). {{phab|T382958}}

- The December 2025 administrator elections ↗ are scheduled from Nov 25 – Dec 15.
- An '''Articles for Creation backlog drive''' ↗ is happening in December 2025, with over 1,000 drafts awaiting review from the past two months. In addition to AfC participants, all administrators and new page patrollers can help review using the Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings ↗. - All general sanctions ↗ imposed by the community may now be enforced at the Arbitration Enforcement noticeboard ↗ (WP:AE ↗) as a result of a recent RfC ↗.
- Due to the result of a recent RFC ↗, the administrator recall ↗ process is amended to extend the deadline for a re-request for adminship to 30 days or the next administrator election ↗, whichever is later.
- Changes ↗ to the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy ↗'s disclosure rules include broadening the consecutive-blocks exception to cover all admin actions and removing the requirement to revision-delete permissible disclosures once they become unnecessary (instead requiring only their removal). See WP:TAIVDISCLOSE ↗ for more information.

Canadian Press
There also is not a rule that all newspaper citations always have to be accessible specifically in Newspapers.com ↗, either. Canadian Press ↗ articles ''are'' accessible in ProQuest ↗, which is also a perfectly acceptable resource to use — and sometimes the article was archived ''directly'' from the Canadian Press newswire ''itself'', rather than from a newspaper reprint of it, and thus there's no newspaper to name because the source was CP itself rather than a newspaper reprint.
Absolutely it's true that Canadian Press content gets reprinted in newspapers, and obviously I name the newspaper if a newspaper reprint was the source I read, but Canadian Press content also gets archived directly from Canadian Press itself as well — and, in some cases, the original Canadian Press article didn't get reprinted by any newspapers at all, or is the only citation that actually named the journalist who wrote it (since newspapers that reprint CP content don't always include the original journalist's byline), or is more detailed than the newspaper reprints since those sometimes edit the CP article down rather than reprinting it in full. So there are absolutely some cases where CP itself is the only, or the best, possible citation for the content, because sometimes the source really is directly from the CP newswire itself rather than a reprint. (Reuters and AP are the same, by the way: Reuters and AP content is often reprinted by newspapers and other media outlets, but it can also be accessed directly from Reuters or AP themselves, and it's perfectly fine to cite it directly to the wire service if that's the source you found and read.) - Due to the result of a recent motion ↗, a rough consensus of administrators at the arbitration enforcement ↗ noticeboard may impose an expanded topic ban on Israel, Israelis, Jews, Judaism, Palestine, Palestinians, Islam, and/or Arabs, if an editor's Arab-Israeli conflict ↗ topic ban is determined to be insufficient to prevent disruption. At least one diff per area expanded into should be cited.

- Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055 ↗).
- The autoconfirmed ↗ user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484 ↗).
20px|alt= ↗ '''Arbitration'''
- The arbitration case ''SchroCat ↗'' has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
- Per a recent motion ↗, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue ↗ are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
- Per a recent motion ↗, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
- The arbitration case ''Maghreb ↗'' has been closed.
class=skin-invert|20px|alt= ↗ '''Miscellaneous'''
- The May 2026 administrator elections ↗ are scheduled to run from April 29 to May 19. The call for candidates ↗ ends May 5.
