Lee Cooper ↗

I am not hawking a lower grade pair of denims here ! However, I did a little digging around concerning this Chicago blues ↗ individual and posted on the article's talk page. You know, that place that no one ever seems to read. I was about to try to 'ping' previous editors of the article, attempting to create some interest, when two things occured. Firstly I could not make head nor tail of the Wiki instructions relating to 'pinging' anyone (as usual, Wiki guidelines are written in pseudo techno babble speak and US-centric goobledegook); then secondly saw your moniker as being the creator of the article (nearly ten years ago, so you must remember it well).

Actually, I should have asked after your wellbeing before this point, but I have noticed your recent upturn in activity here, so assumed you must be at least upright, and like me warding off the worst aspects of dementia. Perhaps Mr Cooper's page is on your 'watchlist', in which case you are probably already well ahead of me. As ever, no pressure at all, but any thoughts ?

As an aside, what the Donald Duck are you doing associating with Green Lipsticked Lesbians ?! – Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:27, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

:Curious. The ref in the article states ''BARE'' p.273, but there is no mention of Cooper on that page, or in ''BARE'' at all so far as I can see. The FindaGrave page gives dates of 6 Nov 1924{{dash}}15 Oct 1964, and has clearly been put together by Steve Salter of the Killer Blues Headstone Project - their website is unavailable to me (it comes up as "dangerous"! Maybe it's the word "Killer" that's alerted an AI bot, who knows...) but I could try to contact him separately. The FaG page specifically states: "This is NOT the L./LeRoy Cooper born April 13, 1925 in Chicago; died 16 August 1966 in Chicago, son of Elro and Dollie Cooper." So, it's likely that our page is wrong and needs correcting. I can't remember writing it at all. I'm very tempted to edit it myself, based on the FaG site and on the primary sources linked to it. On other matters - I'm fine, just prioritising other stuff now and again. And, it's a shame about GLL, a copyright zealot who removes good pics of long dead and obscure people and replaces them with terrible but "free" ones - but, what can you do? Life's too short. Hope you are well. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:27, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

::Oddly, I can access the Killer Blues Headstone Project website (perhaps not the best start to their name, considering), but it does not contain details for Lee Cooper ! Strange world, isn't it. I note that you are intending to try to contact Steve Salter (I did not notice it was he who had posted at FaG) - seems like a good idea. Yes you are right about life and what is left of it for us old timers. Nothing is worth the fight anymore. My health in the last 18 months or so has been the best I have experienced since before COVID times - keeping fingers crossed. It seems an age since we last 'spoke' - not many 'friends' left here for me these days. Over to you; I really did not intend to cause you more work !! Cheers, - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 11:23, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
:::As you see, I've corrected the article anyway. Rules are there to be ignored, sometimes. Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:22, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
::::Well done, the only piece of editing guidelines I fully agree with is WP:IGNOREALLRULES ↗. Cheers, - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 18:46, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::If you have access to the Killer Blues site, and if it gives his precise dates, can you add a citation for the dates? Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:47, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::You may have missed my earlier comment when I said that that website does not contain details for Lee Cooper. It has listed Jesse Coleman ↗, Floyd Council ↗, and Robert Covington, alphabetically (almost); stating generally it has placed over '170 headstones in 16 states', yet only lists 168 of them. That assumes my mathematics are correct. I do not know why Cooper is not there, but to be clear the list is here ↗. One editor has spent some time adding most of these details to many of the deceased recipients Wiki articles. After a fashion - I spent a little time Wiki smartening the wording. The Project appears to be doing a grand job and I think their efforts are worth noting in Wiki articles, always allowing for WP:UNDUE ↗. Incidentally, the 'click on the headstones' comment in the KBHP website often takes you to the said Wiki article. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:24, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::PS. I failed to mention that the drummer and singer (nicknamed "Golden Voice") Robert Covington does not have an article here, but he is mentioned in Mississippi Heat ↗. He apparently drummed for Sunnyland Slim ↗ for over a decade, plus for Big Joe Turner ↗, Little Walter ↗, Buddy Guy ↗, and James Cotton ↗. He was born in 1941 in Yazoo City ↗; which always for me summons up the excellent "Only You ↗" and the surely associated Kazoo ↗. I may have consumed too many wine gums ↗. Hee hee. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 23:12, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Robert Covington is at FindaGrave ↗ - died 17 Jan 1996, apparently. Over to you... Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:22, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
