Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas ↗

You are invited to participate in the '''Destubathon of the Americas ↗''', a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ <span style="font-variant:small-caps;color:#aba67e">''Dr. Blofeld''</span> 17:03, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

2026 World Cup talk page

Regarding the "new" user, "Beanoir," who is demanding the removal of the word "soccer" from the 2026 World Cup article, I noted that just yesterday a different user, "Northern winter," posted a comment on the same page ridiculing the word "soccer" in the pinned topic at the top. I took a look at the latter user's contributions and I suspect they may be the same person, but I thought I’d ask you whether you might have any thoughts before I open a sockpuppet investigation. (That task would have to wait until later or tomorrow anyway when I’m using my PC, as it’s too hard to create all the diffs using my iPad because I make too many typos on here.) I haven’t linked either of those users' contributions because if my suspicions are accurate, I don’t want to inadvertently ping them and alert them to the issue. SPI protocol specifically says it’s recommended not to notify the suspects. 1995hoo (talk) 13:01, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
:User:1995hoo|1995hoo] - To be honest, I hadn't even considered the possibility of sockpuuppetry. I assumed it was simply an obsessive hater of the word "soccer' which I saw a lot of when similar naming conventions were discussed for Australia ↗. But I see your point. This editor seems far too experienced in the ways of Wikipedia to be a novice. I say Go for it, HiLo48 (talk) 00:06, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks. Ultimately I didn’t do anything about it today because I had too many other things to do (today being a holiday here in the USA). I see neither user has done anything I’d consider problematic for the past two days, so I think for now I’ll let it slide and I’ll see whether either one resumes disruption. Plus I’m going to be traveling in the near future and will not be able to respond in a timely fashion to any administrator questions. So I’ll follow up in about two weeks if the problem resurfaces. 1995hoo (talk) 00:39, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

Your removal of mention of Jess Wilson as a Catholic

Hi,

I have noticed that you removed by edit on Jess Wilson ↗ where I briefly mentioned the fact that she is a Roman Catholic as she stated in her maiden speech and appears to be a big part of her life. I cited a source for my edit so I would like to know why you removed my edit.

Thanks,

AuspolScribe AuspolScribe (talk) 06:35, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

:AuspolScribe - Your attempt to cite a source failed, leaving us with big red syntax error on the page. So I couldn't see your source. HiLo48 (talk) 07:03, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
::cool thanks AuspolScribe (talk) 07:15, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
