G'day, Hungrydog, thanks for your efforts with the Bougainville campaign ↗ article. There are a couple of places that still need refs, but overall it is looking much more detailed. Mariana Islands naval order of battle ↗ moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Mariana Islands naval order of battle ↗, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable ↗, independent sources ↗. <small>(? ↗)</small> Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability ↗ is of central importance ↗ on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace ↗ (with a prefix of "<code>Draft:</code>" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline ↗ and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. <span style="background:Black;padding:1px 5px"><b style="color: White">b</b><b style="color: White">uidh</b><b style="color: White">e</b> ↗</span> 20:56, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Orders of battle
I undid your revisions to the Seven Days order of battle articles for both the Union and Confederate armies before realizing that you had made these changes elsewhere. I object to them and do not see them as more user-friendly. I find them much harder to navigate. I don't think that it's necessary to include photographs of commanders either and it comes across to me as unnecessary clutter. Have you sought consensus for any of these changes? If not, I think that this should be done before you make any further alterations. Display name 99 (talk) 21:22, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Easier Way to Build Orders of Battle
I noticed you are creating new map symbol files to build articles on organization of forces in historic battles. You might find it easier or faster to use the Mil Map Symbol template. It will give you more colour options without uploading new files:
{{Mil Map Symbol
| UNIT ICON =Military Symbol - Friendly Unit (Black&White 1.5x1 Frame)- Infantry - Mechanized (NATO APP-6).svg
| UNIT SIZE ICON =NATO Map Symbol - Unit Size - Brigade.svg
| FILL COLOUR = yellow
| ICON SIZE = 32
}}
{{Mil Map Symbol
| UNIT ICON =Military Symbol - Friendly Unit (Black&White 1.5x1 Frame)- Infantry - Mechanized (NATO APP-6).svg
| UNIT SIZE ICON =NATO Map Symbol - Unit Size - Brigade.svg
| FILL COLOUR = #95c926
| ICON SIZE = 32
}}
However, to use it for bullets, you need to build your lists inside tables:
{| style="background:none; vertical-align:top"
|-
|style="vertical-align:top;line-height: 5px"|{{Mil Map Symbol
| UNIT ICON =Military Symbol - Hostile Unit (Monochrome Dark 1.5x1 Frame)- Infantry - Airborne (NATO APP-6).svg
| UNIT SIZE ICON =NATO Map Symbol - Unit Size - Division.svg
| FILL COLOUR = yellow
| ICON SIZE = 32
}}
| Unit 1
|-
|style="vertical-align:top;line-height: 5px"|{{Mil Map Symbol
| UNIT ICON =Military Symbol - Neutral Unit (Monochrome Dark 1.5x1 Frame)- Armour (NATO APP-6).svg
| UNIT SIZE ICON =NATO Map Symbol - Unit Size - Corps.svg
| FILL COLOUR = #DCCA98

}}
| Unit 2
|-

| UNIT SIZE ICON =NATO Map Symbol - Unit Size - Division.svg
| FILL COLOUR = #808080
| ICON SIZE = 32

It may seem like a small thing, but the square ones are smaller and they fit better. Also, when I create my own, the thick white frame shows up much better against dark backgrounds. I will check out the rectangular ones. Hungrydog55 (talk) 17:57, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
I think I just figured out what you mean by the template. I have started doing that. Hungrydog55 (talk) 18:00, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
:If you prefer squares, Template:Mil Map Symbol ↗ works with those too, and it can give fill colours if they are transparent fills.

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi, and thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into :Battle of Guam (1944) order of battle ↗. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move ↗", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history ↗, which is legally required for attribution ↗. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be ''moved'' to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits ↗, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab ↗ at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu ↗ for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect ↗ from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves ↗ to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-c&pmove --> Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:57, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi, just wanted to explain why I've reverted the additions you made to the plot. The plot is already far too long at 1570 words, and your edits make things much worse, expanding it to over 2700 words. Have a look at <nowiki>WP:NOVELPLOT ↗</nowiki> which explains why plots should normally not exceed 700 words. Amendments to reduce the existing length would be appreciated. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Thank you for your contributions ↗ to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from : Operation Downfall ↗ into :Orders of battle for Downfall ↗. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing ↗ does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary ↗ at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking ↗ to the copied page, e.g., <code>copied content from <nowiki>page name ↗</nowiki>; see that page's history for attribution</code>. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{tl|copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Re-formatting articles
Hi Hungrydog55. I've noticed you've been working on reformatting various "Order of Battle" articles. Please keep the following :WP:MOS ↗ related things in mind when doing so.
# Please don't add images, flag icons or any other icons to section headings because this is doing so isn't in accordance with :MOS:ACCIM ↗ and :MOS:HEAD ↗.
# Please try as much as possible not to add :WP:WIKILINKS ↗ to section headings (particularly piped links ↗) as explained in :MOS:HEAD ↗. Any link you would add to a section heading can almost certainly be better added using either a :WP:HATNOTE ↗ like :Template:Main ↗ or by adding the link directly to prose in the section.
# Please don't set thumbnail images to a fixed pixel size as explained in :WP:THUMBSIZE ↗. If you'd like to make an image bigger or smaller, you can do so by scaling the image as explained in :MOS:UPRIGHT ↗.
# Please don't use code like "big" to try and make section headings or other article content larger. Section headings will be automatically sized according to their respective level, and the size of in-body text should be for the same for the most part because it makes it much easier to read for most user regardless of the type of device they're using.
# Before you completely reformat an article, it can be good practice to take a peek at the page's history ↗ or the article's talk page (including any archives) to see whether the formatting of the article has been discussed before and whether a consensus was determined regarding it. You shouldn't unilaterally reformat an article if a consensus has already been established for it to be a certain way. It's also allows you to see whether any formatting corrections were made by others. I had gone and cleaned up :Operation Grapeshot order of battle ↗ to try and bring in more in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines, but your subsequent reformatting reintroduced a lot of the things that I had corrected.
Finally, if you're going to be reformatting many more of these articles, you might want to consider joining :WP:MILHIST ↗ (if you're already haven't) since the members of MILHIST probably would be a good source of information and general guidance when it comes to article related to military subjects. In addition, to Wikipedia-wide policies and guidelines, some WikiProjects have also established guidelines for articles that fall within their scope in order to try and keep said articles as consistent as possible. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:48, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Category suppression needed at the page User:Hungrydog55/sandbox/military/1940-99 List of Jap Navy ships and war vessels
Hello. Just a friendly reminder about user page categorization.
I have noticed your sandbox page linked above is appearing in regular content categories. See for example :Category:Japan in World War II-related lists ↗ under '''N'''. This is discouraged. See WP:DRAFTNOCAT ↗ and WP:USERNOCAT ↗ for additional information.
Usually this is remedied by placing a leading colon at the beginning of each category declaration like this:
<code><nowiki>* ↗</nowiki></code>
<code><nowiki>Navy ships and war vessels ↗</nowiki></code>
<code><nowiki>** ↗</nowiki></code>
'''or''', by bracketing all category declarations with Template:Draft categories ↗ like this:
<pre>{{Draft categories|
* ↗
Navy ships and war vessels ↗
** ↗
}}</pre>
Either method will disable the category function. If you could please take care of this, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you. Cheers! --<span style="font-family:Times New Roman;color:#4B0082;">'''''DB'''''</span><span style="color:DeepSkyBlue"><small>'''''1729'''''</small></span><span style="color:#4B0082;">'''''talk'''''</span> 01:47, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
