New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points.

Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women

I intend to create a page on Tottenham Hotspur Women’s academy but only Arsenal W.F.C. and Manchester City W.F.C. of the WSL teams seem to have one. Comments, including objections, are welcome. LenF54 (talk) 18:02, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

:I don't really pay much attention to the women's academy, so I have no idea if there are good enough sources for such an article. Frankly I don't think the sources for Arsenal and Manchester City WFC Academy articles are great, I suspect the one for Man City could get deleted if it ever goes to AfD due to poor quality sourcing (only one valid source for a couple of sentences). Having said that, you can go ahead and create the article, if reviewers think that there aren't sufficient sources, then it will probably get draftified. We won't know until we see the article itself. Hzh (talk) 18:37, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks. If I can't produce a page good enough then I can look at adding something to Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women ↗ instead; but if we have the THFC page for men, and THFC U21 and Academy for men/boys, and THFCW for women it only seems equitable to try for a THFCW Academy. We'll see. LenF54 (talk) 16:37, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
:::I just remembered that there was quite a bit of controversy over a plan to build a women's academy over part of a park in Enfield - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvg9qwy2x79o ↗https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/sep/15/new-legal-challenge-spurs-plan-build-football-academy-london-green-space-campaigners-wildlife ↗. There seem to be a lot of mentions on this in the press from 2021 onwards, so perhaps you might find something about academy itself that you can use. Also googling I see this which has a little bit of info on the academy - https://archive.is/F65SB ↗. You can start by expanding on the section in Spurs Women page, and wait until that new facility has been built to create the article, or just do it now. Hzh (talk) 18:10, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}},

thumb|400px|New Page Review queue November 2025 - May 2026 ↗

'''Backlog update'''

At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

'''2024 and 2025 NPP Awards'''

74px|left ↗{{no ping|JTtheOG}} was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.
{{no ping|Hey man im josh}} and {{no ping|MPGuy2824}} won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

{{no ping|BoyTheKingCanDance}}, {{no ping|Rosiestep}}, {{no ping|SunDawn}}, and {{no ping|Vanderwaalforces}} were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame ↗ for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.

'''January–February backlog drive'''

The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to {{no ping|JTtheOG}}, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.

'''May backlog drive'''

An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026 ↗.

'''PageTriage'''

An attempt was made to get the New Pages Feed ↗ to sort by date marked as reviewed instead of date created. However we had to revert it due to bugs. We may try again in the future. You can subscribe to the Phabricator ticket ↗ if you're interested in following along.

Norman Balon

Hello @Hzh. I am thinking of doing a biography of Norman Balon, but I thought I would just check with you as a courtesy first: I can see you made some changes to Coach and Horses, which suggested that you had dug into some of the details, and I wouldn't want to usurp any plans that you may have made. There are substantive obituaries in the Telegraph (plus a leader and letters), Times, Spectator. Haven't checked Private Eye but presumably they will be saying something. So well over the line for notability, I feel. Maybe a bit sweary though. ChrysGalley (talk) 08:35, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

:Go ahead. I have no plan to write the article, I only wanted to make small changes to the Coach and Horses article. Some people might think that there might be too much overlapped with the pub article to warrant a separate article on the person, but I think he can be considered independently notable. Adjustments to the Coach and Horses article can be made to make it more focused on the pub. You can consider adding a play about him - https://www.itv.com/news/london/2022-12-19/londons-rudest-landlord-gets-west-end-play-written-about-him ↗https://www.standard.co.uk/news/londoners-diary/londoners-diary-norman-balon-coach-horses-soho-landlord-simon-case-raheem-sterling-paul-mccartney-b1046838.html ↗. Hzh (talk) 12:13, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
::Many thanks @Hzh and for the links. I drop you a line when I'm done, hopefully in the next few days. ChrysGalley (talk) 12:34, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
:::@Hzh I think I've pretty much finished the draft, Draft:Norman Balon ↗. I'll move it to mainspace tomorrow after any final copyedits. By all means suggest or make changes. ChrysGalley (talk) 22:08, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks for writing the draft article. One thing that needed to be corrected is the lead - it needs to be written in a more straightforward manner, and avoid anything too elaborate. For example, the second in the lead can just be shortened to something like "He became known as "London's rudest landlord"". Most of the entire second paragraph of the lead also should not be there because it is too general and too specific at the same time. It can go into the main body of the article but not appropriate for the lead because the lead is meant to be a summary. A brief indication of his relationship with the regulars, writers for the Private Eye and other clientele would be more appropriate. Hzh (talk) 00:07, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::Thanks @Hzh - you are right, to some degree I was trying to get away with that, but if it leaped out to you it would do the same for others. So I'll work on restructuring that accordingly. Thanks again, ChrysGalley (talk) 07:51, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
::::::That's a lot better now. The article could do with a few more changes, but you can move it into the main space and see what the reviewers think. Hzh (talk) 18:10, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Thanks @Hzh, I'm not quite done, but fairly soon it's probably best left to other editors to improve over time. ChrysGalley (talk) 18:17, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
