YouTube

Please check the sources in the article before you revert. The site's beta launch was on April 23, 2005.<ref>{{cite web|title=Hurley Declaration|url=https://static.googleusercontent.com/media/www.google.com/en//press/pdf/c_hurley_declaration.pdf|page=2|access-date=October 13, 2024}}</ref> February 14 2005 is the founding date of YouTube, not the launch date.<ref>{{Cite web |title=YouTube turns 20! :YouTube wasn't like a ship that had a grand launch with crowds and a bottle of champagne. The beta launch was a low key event. It is more accurate to say that YouTube was launched gradually around April 2005. As far as the media is concerned, the upload of ''Me at the zoo'' by Jawed Karim on April 23, 2005 is the key moment marking the launch of the site.--'''''<span style="background:#88b;color:#cff;font-variant:small-caps">♦Ian<span style="background:#99c">Ma<span style="background:#aad">c</span></span>M♦</span> (talk to me) ↗''''' 18:00, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Please note though that it was an open beta launch rather than a closed beta like Gmail. It did open on the very day ''Me at the zoo'' was uploaded. Thank you for monitoring the YouTube page—keep up the good work. --Cena332 (talk) 18:08, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi, @Ianmacm.
I've just seen you reply to a lost password issue on the Help Desk with a recommendation to mail ca@wikimedia.org.
I have seen this several times before - but I have yet to find anywhere that documents this as a possibility, or that says that it is even possible to recover an account where the password is lost and the email no longer works.
Can you point me to a page that gives this information? ColinFine (talk) 17:04, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
