Notability

I was too late to reply to you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susan Boyle ↗, but your post did not make any sense. Notability is not fame, and by its ''definition on wikipedia'', no, it does not fade away. Waiting until nobody cares about this article, about a living person ↗, until it is considered for deletion, is negligent. The point about Egypt or roman is pretty much irrelevant, it being a giant strawman argument. MickMacNee (talk) 15:24, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

First of all, you DID reply to my post, in almost exactly the same language you decided to post here. However, since you seem determined to engage in a conversation of sorts with me...

I think I've read enough in the Wikipedia:Notability article to get what the definition of it is, and surely, in the ancient world, most any Persian Satrap would have qualified. If you'd like to see a long view as a "straw man argument," that's up to you. I won't engage in a long argument about this on my page, where it's pointless.

As far as the article on Susan Boyle is concerned, I think the only really good argument for deleting it NOW is that she clearly isn't notable. I don't think that's clear, and I also think that it is a bad idea to delete an article that ALREADY UP, before it's become clear that the person involved WON'T BE further established as notable in the near future. Your claim is that "Waiting around until this person is 'no longer notable' before deleting, is not only just patent bad practice, it is pure negligence against Wikipedia's philosophy of doing no harm to living people." My argument would be that deleting the article on her now would not do less harm to her than deleting it later, if that should be decided upon. So your viewpoint is noted and disagreed with, for whatever that's worth (again, probably not much, because few people will read this page).

I'll be more polite than you and readily admit that your post here makes sense, in spite of the fact that I disagree with it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:45, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

:Disagree with it all you want, the fact is none of what you think is in any policy, we don't hold articles open for what might happen, and we don't retrospectively delete them if nothing then happens, and 'it's not doing any harm' is a recognised bad argument in Afd. I replied in the Afd after I decided to reopen it, that is the reason for two replies. MickMacNee (talk) 13:39, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

::Do you mind explaining just what your position is on this site, since you claim to speak for it by using "we" and had the power to reopen an argument? I think I will decline to further discuss issues with you on this page, so just answer this, please. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:33, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Wikitravel update

Hello over here! I get the impression that you're not into email, but I also don't want to talk too much about the migration ↗ on Wikitravel for reasons you are familiar with, so I'll give your WP talk page a shot ;) You've probably noticed from the deluge of unmoderated spam, as well as comments like mine in the pub about giving up on the site, that admins are giving up on the site. We're looking at setting up a staging site of sorts at Wikivoyage, which will then be the content base to be migrated to the WMF servers, provided the proposal goes through. Take a look at the Migration FAQ on Wikivoyage http://wikivoyage.org/general/Migration_FAQ ↗, where we don't have to worry about censorship! --Peter <small>Talk ↗</small> 21:25, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Renaming your account

At the German Wikivage we found a note ↗ that your account should be renamed. I think it's useful to merge it in your preferences section. --RolandUnger (talk) 06:03, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

:Thank you. It looks like de.voy and it.voy are the problems, but I don't know what to do because I can't figure out what different password I could have used. It wouldn't likely have been intentional. Is there a way to get to a change password screen via email? Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:12, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

::Nevermind; I hit upon the right password - all unified. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:15, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Use of photos on Wikivoyage

Hi Ikan, you are welcome to use them on Wikivoyage, i did made banner for Kazakhstan not long ago on Wikivoyage, i planned also for some other state in future. --PetarM (talk) 10:48, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
:I had forgotten that. Thanks, PetarM.

:All the best,

:Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:49, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi bro. On Commons, you called me a "anti-nude crusader". But I'm not even Christan and don’t know meaning of that term. I quited Commons because this. RealStranger43286 (talk) 08:29, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

:Well, what other reason would you have for calling the drawings of the human form that were included in the w:Pioneer plaque ↗ and used in dozens of Wikipedia pages "Inappropriate file" in a Commons deletion request? If that's what you were going to do more of on Commons, I'm glad you quit. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:07, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
::No bro. My purpose was different and only nominated two files for deletion.. My purpose on Commons is improving and updating captions and uploading files created by me. As a male, I thinked this was Inappropriate file because it show Women's balls. But then I realizes that NASA uses it.

<section begin="announcement-content" />
I am contacting you because you previously voted in elections related to the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) ↗. You may be eligible to vote in the current U4C election, which is open now and closes on 2 June 2026. You can find out more about the candidates and the election on the election page on Meta ↗, and from there you can access the vote itself. Your participation in these elections is important to the governance of Wikimedia communities, and your time spent learning about the candidates and voting is appreciated.
