Greensboro Massacre ↗

Hello Totalibe. Thanks for your recent edit(s) to the above article. Participation by folks like yourself, and the active discourse that follows, makes for better articles. But your reasoning, in this case, is not supported by the facts nor by the consensus reached after lengthy discussions (which can find on the Talk page of the article). A judicial finding was rendered in which the named parties were found to be engaged in a form of mutual combat. Members of the Klan were found to be engaged in self defense, so that ALL parties were found to be assailants in a court of law. Those are the facts that you continue to try to revert, so I would kindly ask you to stop that activity. I hope this small set-back doesn't prevent you from continuing your contributions to Wikipedia. Gulbenk (talk) 00:03, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

"To be blunt this comes across as a tit-for-tat nomination"

You said this in response to a remove of a British/Scottish politician I proposed, and I'm really bothered that you of all people would be assuming I act in bad faith. Why are people making such nefarious assumptions about me like that? <span style="border:1px solid;background:#800080"><span style="color:#FFCC00">p</span><span style="color:#FFCC00;">b</span><span style="color:#FFCC00;">p</span></span> 00:45, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

:@Purplebackpack89 I probably shouldn't have phrased it like that but the nomination did come off as overly reactive. I didn't really mean to insinuate anything and I am sorry for phrasing it like that. Totalibe (talk) 10:29, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

{{ivmbox | image = Commons-emblem-notice.svg |imagesize=50px | bg = #E5F8FF | text = You have recently edited a page related to '''the Arab–Israeli conflict ↗''', a topic designated as '''''contentious ↗'''''. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and <em>does <strong>not</strong> imply that there are any issues with your editing</em>.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee ↗. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators ↗ have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit <strong>carefully and constructively</strong>, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

<p>Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days ↗, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.</p><p>Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics ''procedures'', you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard ↗ or you may learn more about this contentious topic here ↗. Deletion discussion about Trans Safety Network ↗

Hello Iostn, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Trans Safety Network ↗, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Trans Safety Network (2nd nomination) ↗.

Deletion discussions ↗ usually run for seven days and are ''not'' votes. Our guide ↗ about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability ↗, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with <code><nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Eddie891<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>. And don't forget to sign your reply with <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> . Thanks!

Hi there, thank you for all the good work you're doing! About your DCWC submission

Hey Iostn! Thanks for taking part in the Developing Countries WikiContest ↗. I've unfortunately had to decline your submission of ''Woman of Steel''{{'s}} GAN review ↗ as it is too short to be eligible for points. Please see {{slinkno|Wikipedia:Developing_Countries_WikiContest/2025/Scoring#Good_article_nomination_reviews}} of the scoring rules for the criteria on these submissions. In particular, the review needs to have at least 1000 bytes of substantive comments (not including the criteria template) and {{em|must}} include text–source integrity ↗ spot checks, which is also required in the GAN review instructions ↗. If you're inclined to do so, you are welcome to reopen the review to address these points and resubmit it once complete. Please let me or one of the other coordinators know if you have any questions! <span class="nowrap">—<span style="color: #0b541f;">'''TechnoSquirrel69'''</span></span> <small>(<span style="color: #0b541f;">'''sigh'''</span>)</small> 06:37, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

DCWC August update

We're a month into the 2025 Developing Countries WikiContest ↗, with stiff competition at the top of the leaderboard already! Our current top five contestants are:

# {{DCWC participant/2025|Spookyaki}} – 256 points, mostly from a handful of GAs about women's history in Latin America as well as the 1991 Haitian coup d'état ↗.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} – 229 points, back with a number of articles on abortion in various African countries.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} – 213 points, mainly from GAs on species of jumping spiders in both Africa and Azerbaijan.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|PizzaKing13}} – 200 points, with five GAs on articles relating to Salvadoran politics, history, and griddle cakes ↗.
# {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} – 168 points from a few GAs, a few DYKs, and a few ITNs on athletes from a variety of countries.

Looking for ways to climb up the leaderboard yourself? Help out your fellow participants by answering a few '''review requests ↗''', particularly the older entries. Several more nominations needing attention are listed at '''eligible reviews ↗''', and highlighed entries receive a 1.5× multiplier!

On behalf of the coordinators, we'd like to thank all the participants for helping to combat systemic bias ↗ on Wikipedia! DCWC closing update

Two weeks ago, the 2025 Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ came to a close! After three months of stiff competition at the top of the leaderboard, we have our winners. <span class="nowrap">30px|Bronze Belt Buckle – 3rd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}}, continuing his work on covering abortion in Africa ↗, comes in third with 692 points. <span class="nowrap">30px|Silver Belt Buckle – 2nd place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} comes in second with 763 points, largely from a slew of good articles about jumping spider ↗s. And returning to the podium for the second year in a row, <span class="nowrap">30px|Gold Belt Buckle – 1st place ↗ </span>{{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} takes the Gold Belt Buckle with a mind-boggling 946 points from his series of articles on sportpersons. Congratulations to our winners!

Amazingly, the award for the most countries covered goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} and {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}}, who each submitted articles under 30 flags! {{DCWC participant/2025|BeanieFan11}} also wins for writing the most quality articles (16 good articles). For submitting 16 articles related to El Salvador, {{DCWC participant/2025|PizzaKing13}} wins the award for most submissions under one country. The award for most submissions related to women goes to both {{DCWC participant/2025|Spookyaki}} (7 biographies about women) and {{DCWC participant/2025|Vigilantcosmicpenguin}} (21 related articles). And for the second year, {{DCWC participant/2025|Simongraham}} wins for the most reviews, having submitted 21!

Among the participants' contributions were 2 FAs, 5 FLs, 124 GAs, and an uncounted number of DYKs, ITNs, and reviews of every kind! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year, and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...

Orphaned non-free image File:Joe Slovo 1.jpg

35px|text-top|left|⚠|link= ↗ Thanks for uploading ''':File:Joe Slovo 1.jpg ↗'''. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use ↗. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media ↗).

Note that any non-free images not used in any '''articles''' will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗. Thank you.<!-- Template:Di-orphaned non-free use-notice --> --B-bot (talk) 17:30, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

The DCWC is back!

frameless|right|upright=0.8|The Developing Countries WikiContest Gold Belt Buckle ↗

Hey Iostn, the Developing Countries WikiContest ↗ is back for a third year, and '''sign-ups are now open ↗'''! The contest will run from 1{{nbsp}}July to 30{{nbsp}}September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia ↗.

Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner {{user|Generalissima}}; and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules ↗; discussion can be found on the contest talk page ↗.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: {{user|Arconning}}, {{user|Generalissima}}, {{user|Magentic Manifestations}}, {{user|sawyer777}}, or {{user|TechnoSquirrel69}}. <small>(To unsubscribe from these updates, remove yourself from this list ↗. Speedy deletion ↗ nomination of :File:Indonesian killings 1965.jpg ↗

48px|left|alt=|link= ↗

A tag has been placed on :File:Indonesian killings 1965.jpg ↗ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion ↗, because it is a non-free file ↗ from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press ↗, Getty Images ↗), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines ↗, please add the appropriate non-free use tag ↗ and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by visiting the page ↗ and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines ↗. <!-- Template:Db-badfairuse-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> 999<span style="white-space: nowrap;color: white;text-shadow:0 0 .25em #F0F,0 0 .6em #F0F;">REAL 💬 ⬆ ↗</span> 19:24, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
