Editing inside quotations

While I appreciate your efforts at working on style, I must point out that you don't change material inside a direct quotation. This applies to the wire service style which was / is to capitalize the dateline city of origin - it is not a typo. Editorial changes to handle things like misspellings, or in the case of some words that have changed in usage over time (employe / employee comes to mind) are marked [sic] to show that the typo or variation was in the original source. Mark Sublette

:The edits I was referring to were items from Military Aircraft Accidents, 1940 - 1944. Personally, as a historian, I try to accurately reflect the source material, and prefer to post the text as it was printed, and note missed keystrokes with [''sic'']. Also, usage of the language, especially in the press, has evolved over time, and reporting has changed. I don't like to second-guess period style. Mark Sublette

Thanks!

Thank you for cleaning up the citation in convolutional neural networks ↗, Ira! Babajobu (talk)

Check your regex

Your JWB script is inserting errors... For example Special:Diff/1343836245 ↗... '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗) 02:10, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

:That was me manually, I have to slow down. Thank you for pointing it out. If there are others, let me know and I will fix them instead of taking up your time. Ira Leviton (talk) 02:18, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
::All good. If I had a nickel for every time I've broken things with JWB, I could retire and edit full time {{wink}} '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (<sup>Talk to me ↗</sup>/<sub><span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗</sub>) 02:20, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
:::I need you to slow down and check your edits. You've broken multiple pages again with your JWB edits. '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗) 15:56, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Will do. I apologize. And will go back to more manual edits. If you let me know which pages I will fix them so you don't have to waste time. Ira Leviton (talk) 16:09, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::Ok Ira. Now I am getting irritated. We all make mistakes here. I myself have broken things countless times. But I try to avoid making the same mistake repeatedly. You have '''once again''' broken pages as part of this cleanup of {{tl|Infobox officeholder}} with this edit ↗. {{para|terms_tart2}} is not a valid param. As this has happened '''repeatedly''' without any sign that you are understanding the issue, consider this a final warning. If this happens again I would file an WP:ANI ↗ to have your WP:JWB ↗ privileges revoked. You need to slow WAY down. '''Preview every edit before you click save.''' Your heart is in the right place but you are doing more harm that good at this point as you are creating more work for other editors to clean up. '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗) 22:53, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
::::::link=|25px|alt=Information icon ↗ There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents ↗ regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Repeated misuse of JWB ↗.<!--Template:Discussion notice--><!--Template:ANI-notice--> '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (<sup>Talk to me ↗</sup>/<sub><span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗</sub>) 04:09, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Why are you so incapable of checking your edits? Once again, another ridiculously dumb typo at Mangaradja Sinaga ↗. You aren't even trying. At least monitor {{cl|Category:Pages using infobox officeholder with unknown parameters}} if you cannot be bothered to properly preview your edits. '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗) 04:31, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
: There are certain types of comments that do not get replies from me, and this is an example. For those who are reading, the previous comment was a response to a single typo that I made, the first in about 3,000 edits and 20 days – from somebody who earlier in the thread said that if he a nickel for every time he had broken things [using the same script], he could retire. Ira Leviton (talk) 20:42, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
::Yes but you have REPEATEDLY failed to fix your mistakes, never own them and NEVER clean up your own work. The first few times I was nice about it. The sixth time you have made a dumb typo and '''not even tried''' to check your work, this is ridiculous. The purpose of JWB is to use REGEXs for rapid editing. You aren't using regexs but are manually editing at a rapid pace and therefore keep breaking things because you aren't monitoring the error categories. '''<span style="color:#00d5ff">Zack</span><span style="color:#007F94">mann</span>''' (Talk to me ↗/<span style="color:orange">What I been doing</span> ↗) 20:49, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Unnecessary editing

When you type a common name for a species for example Blue Whale. What matters is whether you follow the capitalization throughout the article. Removing the uppercase W from Whale is unnecessary. This is a rule in scientific literature. Thank you for your edits and time. &#126;2026-21381-39 ↗ (talk) 16:24, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

:Per MOS:LIFE ↗, you should not capitalize "blue whale" at all. The username filter bot is way too sensitive (talk) 23:44, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

other_names

Heya, just wanted to flag that this ↗ edit had also changed the word alias in the actual article body. Some other edits may have done the same. <span class="nowrap"><small>''ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸ''</small><span style="color:#a30d8f">Taffer</span>💬<small>(they/she ↗)</small></span> 00:22, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

:Oops - I will fix that right away.
:Ahhh, you beat me to it, I will look for others where I might have made the same error. Ira Leviton (talk) 00:39, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
::What a surprise, once again your ineptitude with JWB has broken with multiple pages. Jermaine Jackson

I observed that you have edited the article about Jermaine Jackson ↗. Please add his Muslim name, Muhammad Abdul-Aziz Shareef<ref>{{cite web | title=JERMAINE | website=JERMAINE Jackson | url=https://jermainejackson5.com/ | language=en | access-date=2026-05-23}}</ref> after checking if the source I have provided is formatted correctly.&#126;2026-30706-51 ↗ (talk) 19:01, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Wollongong Flag, Australia

Hey!

Thanks for your revisions, I'm not sure if it is just on my end but the flag image seems to have an error.

Thanks again XX Breezy Xx (talk) 03:59, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
{{ping|User:XX Breezy Xx}}
: This is a tough one – it looks like references aren't allowed in this infobox if the images are formatted correctly. Even when I wikified the reference by inputting parameters, the flag didn't show. The only way I could make it work was to delete the reference. Is that OK? Ira Leviton (talk) 17:12, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hey Ira,
::Yes completely fine, thanks for fixing my problem, it is tricky, the Australian place template is a bit restrictive on what can and cannot be correctly formatted and displayed. I am also having trouble with an addition of the official crest, I am trying to get it to display on the right side in small px, which would be conducive with all the other Wikipedia place articles. But it is just displaying a red link, the image is fair use so I am unsure why?
::Thanks again for the help! XX Breezy Xx (talk) 11:04, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
{{ping|User:XX Breezy Xx}}
::: I think I fixed it. The coat of arms didn't show because it had a png suffix but needed a jpg suffix. I added logo_upright to size it, blank_emblem_type to make "Coat of arms" appear underneath, and a flag_size to make the flag larger so that "Flag" and "Coat of arms" look like they're on the same line. Using other parameters to do these tasks didn't seem to work. Let me now if it's OK. Ira Leviton (talk) 18:50, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hey Ira,
:Sorry for the late reply, it looks great to me! I appreciate all your help. I will use this as a reference to properly format other articles I edit.
:Kind regards XX Breezy Xx (talk) 03:42, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Typo?

Can I assume that Special:Diff/1359318090 ↗ was a mistake? Not sure how that is "fixing a typo". Guessing you miss-clicked something? Can you help with the Unite America article?

Hi, this is Kevin from Unite America ↗. I’m reaching out because the Unite America article is now considerably out of date, and I’m hoping to find experienced editors who might be willing to help refresh it. Because of my affiliation, I’ve been posting edit requests on the Talk page ↗ rather than making changes directly. The article could use help updating outdated sections and trimming promotional or dated material to better align with Wikipedia standards. I noticed you’ve edited the page previously, and while your edits were relatively minor, I hoped you might still have enough interest in the topic to take a look. Any help would be greatly appreciated. KS at Unite America (talk) 18:37, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
