New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}},
thumb|right|120px ↗
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter ↗ finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of ''The Signpost'' ↗. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
'''Awards''': Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to {{Noping|MPGuy2824}}), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to {{no ping|John B123}} for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page ↗. Check out the new Hall of Fame ↗ also.
'''Software news''': {{Noping|Novem Linguae}} and {{Noping|MPGuy2824}} have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here ↗. The reviewer report ↗ has also been improved.
thumb|450px|right|NPP backlog May – October 15, 2022 ↗
'''Suggestions''':
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: ''an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more.'' (from the NPP tutorial ↗)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
'''Backlog''':80px|left ↗ Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive ↗ to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

;Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to {{noping|WaddlesJP13}} who led with 2084 points. See this page ↗ for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
;2022 Awards
74px|left ↗
{{no ping|Onel5969}} won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. {{no ping|Rosguill}} led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page ↗ and the Hall of Fame ↗. Congratulations everyone!
'''Minimum deletion time''': The previous WP:NPP ↗ guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR ↗). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed ↗ are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
'''New draftify script''': In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page ↗. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js ↗ or vector.js file from <code>User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js</code> to <code>User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js</code>'''
'''Redirects''': Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide ↗, this checklist ↗, and spend some time at WP:RFD ↗.
'''Discussions with the WMF''' The PageTriage open letter ↗ signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches ↗ in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as {{noping|Novem Linguae}} and {{noping|MPGuy2824}} have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference ↗ with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

'''Backlog'''
'''Redirect drive''': In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with '''23851''' reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to '''0''' (momentarily). Congratulations to {{Noping|Hey man im josh}} who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by {{noping|Meena}} and {{noping|Greyzxq}} with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page ↗ for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
'''Redirect autopatrol''': All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here ↗.
'''WMF work on PageTriage''': The WMF Moderator Tools team ↗, consisting of {{noping|Samwalton9 (WMF)|label1=Sam|JSherman (WMF)|label2=Jason|SCardenas (WMF)|label3=Susana}}, and also some patches from {{noping|Jon (WMF)|label1=Jon}}, has been hard at work updating PageTriage ↗. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test ↗ where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed ↗, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR ↗ when we are ready for beta testers.
'''Articles for Creation (AFC)''': All new page reviewers are now '''automatically approved''' for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP ↗ like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script ↗, visit Special:Preferences ↗, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed ↗, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR ↗. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional ↗, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
'''Pro tip''': Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG ↗? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST ↗ 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Hello John B123:
'''WikiProject Articles for creation ↗''' is holding a '''month long Backlog Drive ↗ in June!'''<br />
The goal of this drive is to '''reduce''' the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 1 month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 June 2025 through 30 June 2025.
You may find :Category:AfC pending submissions by age ↗ or other categories and sorting ↗ helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.<br />
There is a backlog of over {{Rounddown|{{formatnum:3,205|R}}|-2}} pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Reverted edit of template for "Prostitution in the United States"
Hello!
I removed Northern Liberties, Philadelphia ↗ from Template:Prostitution in the United States ↗. I could not find any sources for this nor have ever heard this before. What I think whoever added this originally was trying to reference is the Philadelphia Tenderloin, a neighborhood which no longer exists. In any case, the Philadelphia Tenderloin was never coterminous with Northern Liberties, though they are adjacent. I’m working on adding an article for the Philadelphia Tenderloin, but for now, listing Northern Liberties in the template is inaccurate.
_______________
Location of Northern Liberties, from the Wikipedia article: “Northern Liberties is located north of Center City (specifically, Old City) and is bordered by Girard Avenue to the north; '''''Callowhill Street to the south'''''; North 6th Street to the west; and the Delaware River to the east””
According to the Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia, the Tenderloin was “bound by Sixth Street on the east, Thirteenth Street on the west, Race Street to the south, and '''''Callowhill Street to the north'''''.” https://philadelphiaencyclopedia.org/essays/tenderloin/ ↗

''The Court of the Dead ↗''
Hello, John B123! Would you mind marking the article '''''The Court of the Dead ↗''''' as reviewed so that the article appears in search engine results? The book has topped multiple bestseller lists, so should qualify! Justthefacts (talk) 20:50, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
: Hi Justthefacts. It looks a well written article. Per the notability guidelines for books ↗: ''the book has been the subject of two or more non-trivial published works appearing in sources that are independent of the book itself''. "Non-trivial published works" usually means reviews. Perhaps the 'Critical response' section can be expanded to include other reviews? Regards. --John B123 (talk) 21:37, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
::{{Reply|John B123}} Hi, John B123! Actually, the notability guidelines for books criteria ↗ explicitly states that "non-trivial published works" includes both "bestseller lists" and "reviews", so the article already qualifies on the number of bestseller lists that it appears alone, but, nevertheless, the '''Critical response''' section ↗ has now also been expanded ↗ per your request! Regards. --Justthefacts (talk) 22:21, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
::: {{re|Justthefacts}} I've seen arguments at WP:AfD ↗ that inclusion in a best seller list does not satisfy the WP:GNG ↗ requirement of 'in-depth coverage' (and often sparks a debate of WP:SNG ↗ v GNG) which is why I prefer the 'safer option' of reviews. Notability aside, I think expanding the Critical response section helps the article balance. Another reviewer has already marked it as reviewed but I would happily have done so. Congratulations on writing such a nice article. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 22:51, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
::::{{Reply to|John B123}} Thank you! :) {{User link|WarGrowlmon18}} also deserves credit for their significant expansion of the article ↗! :) Regards! :) --Justthefacts (talk) 23:56, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

Re Review
Hello @John B123, could you please take a look at the article Nupur Joshi ↗. This page is about a Hindi actress. I have attempted to write it based on information from several important sources. Does it still need some improvements? Because I have noticed that it has remained unreviewed even after several months. Perhaps this article appears to have been written by someone else before 2020, which you also reviewed Thanks Neuroswasthya (talk) 12:27, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
: Hi Neuroswasthya. An article about the actress was deleted at AfD ↗ on notability grounds. I don't see that anything she has appeared in since then shows that she has now met the notability requirements. Most of the references are interviews with Joshi, or based on what she has said. You need in include references from reliable sources that are independent of the subject and give significant coverage of her. Regards.--John B123 (talk) 15:30, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
::Dear @John B123, When this page was first created, many shows weren't added, which have been added now. Nupur plays the lead role in shows like Rakhi – Atoot Rishtey Ki Dor ↗, Jasoos Vijay ↗, Ssshhhh...Koi Hai ↗ etc., which qualifies for WP:NACTOR criteria. Joshi also has supporting roles in several serials and films. The reason for failing the WP:GNG criteria at that time was probably that only 9 sources were added at that time, some of which were not even reliable, but now some important sources have been added like 1 ↗, 2 ↗, 3 ↗, 4 ↗, 5 ↗, 6 ↗ All these reliable sources talk about the artist's role and character. Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ modification
Hi. I've been working on All Japan Road Race Championship ↗ related articles recently and noticed that the current Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ doesn’t include support for this series. Nobody has ever really worked on anything All Japan-related on English Wikipedia (other than the main article, which is pretty neglected), so naturally it's missing in there. The template already includes other regional series of similar relevance in motorcycle racing like the BSB, Isle of Man TT or MotoAmerica. The All Japan sits at a somewhat similar recognition level I reckon (just not English-speaking).
Would it be possible to add All Japan support to the template? I haven’t edited templates before so I'm not sure what the steps would be, whether it would require a talk page discussion. I've noticed you're the last editor to implement a whole series to the template (WorldWCR), back in 2024, so advice would be appreciated. I was thinking about including the current four categories (JSB1000, ST1000, ST600 and J-GP3) separately, similar to how Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP are incorporated individually, since these categories don't necessarily work as feeder series to each other. Thanks! Fishyblyn (talk) 14:35, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
: Hi Fishyblyn. It should be possible to add this to the template. I added the WorldWCR without discussion, but as this is a FIM world championship it would be difficult to argue against it's inclusion. A nation series that is not in an English speaking country and not extensively covered in English language media may be objected to. I would suggest adding it to the template and seeing if there is any reaction.
: On the template ''All Japan Road Race Championship JSB1000 category'' is unwieldy for a section heading would ''All Japan JSB1000'' be ok? (And similar for the other categories). Regards --John B123 (talk) 00:39, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
::@John B123 Yes All Japan JSB1000 is perfect for the header. Will try implementing soon. Thanks for the help! Fishyblyn (talk) 11:48, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
::: Hi Fishyblyn. I went to edit the template this morning but see you have already added the All Japan sections. Looking at the changes, you seem to have covered everything and not made any errors, (Edit to add) I added the ST1000 stats to the infobox of Taiga Hada ↗ and all worked correctly, well done. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 07:45, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
::::Hi @John B123! Thank you! It's nice to hear this from an experienced editor :) Thanks for the help and advice again! Fishyblyn (talk) 11:23, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
Hi {{u|Otisu}}. I hope all is good with you. I've come across a way of adding other series or championship to Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ without having to modify the template. It uses Template:Infobox racing driver ↗ as a child infobox. This may be of use to you, for example adding Asia Road Racing Championship ↗ to the info box of Draft:Soichiro Minamimoto ↗. Have a look at Nathan Watson ↗, where I've added 4 unsupported championships to the info box, to see how it works. Regards --John B123 (talk) 23:21, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
:Hi @John B123! I'm doing fine I hope you're doing well too! I just saw your workaround and it could come in handy in some articles. However I'm super picky with how infoboxes look- Minamimoto's infobox would include his All Japan record in green (already part of Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗) while the ARRC record would show in grey if I used the workaround you suggested- so I'm not sure if want two colors mixed together haha. Now that you mention it though, I might try implementing the ARRC to Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ if you think it's a fair shot? I'm assuming it is, considering nobody seemed to bother when I added the All Japan anyway. ''ARRC ASB1000/SS600/AP250/UB150/TVS'' sounds fine to you as section heading? Sorry I'm not that familiar with the ARRC as I'm mostly focused in Japanese motorcycle racing. Thanks for the suggestion and nice hearing from you again! :) <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 13:49, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
::Hi {{u|Otisu}}, I'm good thanks. It seems that nobody is bothered what you do to Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ providing it doesn't alter existing usage of the template.
::I didn't pick up on the header colour as I hadn't mixed championships from the two templates. I did look at changing the colour of the headers inTemplate:Infobox racing driver ↗ but |headerstyle= is hardcoded. It would be easy to change it to be user-defined but the template is edit protected. Even if this were changed, there is still a discrepancy between templates as Infobox racing driver displays the stats (starts, wins, etc) on individual lines rather than the horizontal list of Infobox motorcycle rider. Infobox racing driver does have far more fields than Infobox motorcycle rider. Whilst these fields could be added to Infobox motorcycle rider, it would be a pain to add all the fields to all the championships.
::A disadvantage of Infobox motorcycle rider is that the order of the championships if fixed. On an individual riders page you may wish to display the championships in a chronological order of when they competed in them, or you may wish to have the most important championship first. MotoGP appears before WSBK, but if you had a Superbike rider that had raced in the odd GP you'd want the order reversed. Another disadvantage is that if you want to add another championship you have to change the template coding which seems a lot of trouble.
::Thinking about getting over these problems, I think the best way would be to add a new section to Infobox motorcycle rider "other series" where whatever you enter in |other_series= becomes the section header (in green!), so |other_series=Asia Road Racing Championship starts a section for ARRC. Within the section we can add fields to cover different situations such as team, former teams, best season etc. To add more than one championship that is not already defined we can add the template as a child template of itself. This could be done multiple times. To change the ordering of the championships use the 'other series' rather than the predefined championships, adding them in the order you want them displayed.
::That said, it might be easier to start again with a new template with championship1, championship2 etc instead of the predefined championships of the existing template. Probability 6 championships would be enough.
::I would appreciate any thoughts you have on this. Regards John B123 (talk) 11:55, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
:::Hi again @John B123! Your suggestion of adding an "other series" section to the template sounds pretty good as long as it works like you say, honestly. Regarding starting a new template I'm not very knowledgeable in that matter so I'm not sure if it's the better workaround- would it stand and not get speedy deleted? Otherwise it sounds good too! Like I said before I'm not exactly in my element when it comes to working with templates and you seem to handle it a lot better, so if you think it's a good/reasonable idea then I'll definitely support it. I wonder how it'd look with riders who have competed in many championships, though. Take Yuki Kunii ↗- his infobox currently has moto2, moto3, JRR ST600, ST1000 and JSB1000- if we tried to incorporate his ARRC record to the infobox, how would that look? Two separate infoboxes? Maybe not use the Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ but the new one instead? (It'd need 6-7 slots at least like you said, just in case).
:::Also, and I know you explicitly say in your talk page you're no longer participating in new page reviewing- but could you possibly take a look at these articles? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kotaro_Togashi ↗https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waku_Kunitate ↗https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayato_Chishiki ↗ I'm not asking you to review them just a brief second opinion to see if these are sustainable long term or whether they may be objected to? Whenever I make an article of a young rider I get the feeling it might get moved back to a draft just because they're still very early in their development, and I don't have anybody experienced to take a quick glance at them. Thanks! <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 14:32, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Hi {{u|Otisu}}.Looking at your articles, I don't think any of them meet the SNG WP:NMOTORSPORT ↗ but I do think they meet WP:GNG ↗ so have marked them as reviewed. You may get someone come along who thinks all riders need to meet WP:NMOTORSPORT ↗ but generally once an article is marked as reviewed it gets less attention. The articles are well written and referenced. The only thing I would mention is in the Career statistics section, R1 and R2 appear in the cell with the results in the Japanese series but as headers in the Asian series. It looks better with them in the headers.
::::I did give up NPP for a while which is when I put the notice up. I left it there when I restarted reviewing again to discourage people requesting reviews. Whilst I don't mind reviewing on request, when you get a dozen requests a day it becomes time consuming.
::::Going back to the templates, I think a new template is the best option. I'll put something together and then give you a shout to look at it if that's OK with you. Regards John B123 (talk) 17:13, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::@John B123 Thanks for the reviews and feedback! I wasn't aware you were doing NPP again so I didn't want to bother you with it, and you didn't have to do it anyway- thankfully for me all of my BLPs so far have all been reviewed and accepted at some point, without tags- but thanks again! As for the template yes absolutely you can let me know whenever! <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 17:29, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
::::::Hi {{u|Otisu}}. I've put together something at Draft:Template:Infobox motorcycle racer ↗ I've also added some comments on the talk page. Your comments or criticism, no matter how harsh, would be appreciated. Regards --John B123 (talk) 19:54, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::::Hi @John B123! I just took a look at your work over at Draft:Template:Infobox motorcycle racer ↗. Before getting into detail let me say it looks really meticulous and you seemed to put a lot of effort and time on it so props to you! :) As for the few stuff I saw that I thought could be worth bringing up:
:::::::- I've noticed a lack of a "points" parameter, next to the usual "poles", "wins", "podiums" etc. I'm assuming that was a deliberate decision from your part, just bringing it up as I think it's also important when talking statistics- although probably not as much as the others.
:::::::- About the "hide_statistics" parameter- I saw it being used as an example in Yuki Kunii's infobox (collapsible box with a "show" toggle, correct?)- I personally prefer the infobox chunky by default as it makes the article look stronger and more relevant. It's only an option of course so this is mostly down to whoever decides to use it.
:::::::- The "last season" parameter looks a lot better in the infobox than Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗'s imo! Much clearer and more intuitive. Only thing I didn't like as much was how the info looked. For example, with Todd Kellett's infobox "2024 1st (6 wins)" seems a little cluttered? It's not difficult to understand what it's trying to say but still. Then I thought it could look a little cleaner if there was a way to have the last season's year in parentheses, as part of the parameter- as in "Last season (2024) = 1st (6 wins/X pts)". However I'm not sure if that could be done at all so I'm just suggesting. Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗ does it so that just by typing the year it will show up cleanly linked (but also very long as I said), but again I don't know how that is done.
:::::::- The section heading font size seems to be at 100%. Looking at most types of infoboxes they seem to use a smaller font size, which on Wikipedia dramatically changes the appearance of the text for some reason. I personally prefer what I'm already used to (must be around 80-90% size).
:::::::A few things I liked were parameters like the teams/previous teams within the series fields and the distinction between manufacturer and engine (although not applicable in many cases, very useful for moto2, as well as the old CRT MotoGPs). The "occupation" parameter is also useful, race commentator could be a frequent use for it but also other cases like Kenan Sofuoglu ↗ too.
:::::::Everything else seems great to me! I also appreciate the fact that you see my opinion as valuable, I tried my best to give you some useful feedback! <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 22:17, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
::::::::Hi {{u|Otisu}}, thanks for the feedback. It's really helpful to have someone else's perspective.
::::::::- I didn't think the points stats were that useful so didn't include them. However, if you think they are worth including then I'm sure others think so too. I can easily add them.
::::::::- The use of 'hide_statistics' could also depend on the size of the article. A long article could stand a long infobox whereas a stub with an infobox longer than the article text is a definite candidate for hiding the stats.
::::::::- Your suggestion of "Last season (2024) = 1st (6 wins/X pts)" looks good. Auto-linking the year is no problem but this falls down when there are no year articles for the particular championship. eg on Yuki Kunii ↗ there are red-links for 2024 All Japan Road Race Championship ↗ and 2022 All Japan Road Race Championship ↗. We could add another parameter such a '| unlink_last_season_year =' where setting it to 'yes' stops the year being linked. ie the year gets linked automatically unless you tell it not to.
::::::::- Normally a heading has 15% larger text than the body text. Initially the body text was 100% and the header text 115%. I later changed the body text to 85% but forgot to change the header text, effectively making the header text 35% larger than the body. I've reduced the size of the header text to 100% and think it looks in proportion now.
::::::::Thanks again for your input. Regards John B123 (talk) 21:15, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::Hi @John B123. Yes a parameter like '| unlink_last_season_year =' to avoid redlinks sounds great, I personally don't really care much about redlinks but others might, so I agree it would benefit from an option to turn it off. I also forgot to include another suggestion you might like- something similar to Template:Infobox person ↗'s 'native_name / native_name_lang'. I think it looks great when the infobox includes both romanized and original spellings, say a name in Cyrillic or Kanji. It's often already included in the lead section but the infobox heading is bigger and more visual. However this isn't standard in motorcycle racing articles as it's never been a parameter within Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗, so I'm not sure what you might think. <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 22:01, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::Hi {{u|Otisu}}, I don't see any reason not to add 'native_name / native_name_lang' and think it would be useful where the riders name uses a non-Latin script language. Whilst it's not usually included in racing infoboxes, the riders are primarily people so including fields from Template:Infobox person ↗ is valid. Have a look at the Yuki Kunii example on the template, does it need styling? --John B123 (talk) 19:49, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::::::::Hi @John B123, I think it looks great! Much better than without it, definitely. It got me thinking though, and I tried to manually move it to the green box, as in 'name = Yuki Kunii < br > 國井 勇輝', just to see how it would look in the preview. I think it looks good too, it just doesn't use the parameters I had you add to the template lol. However I'm not sure if it's valid or a little bit of an odd workaround. You can try previewing it yourself just in case you prefer how it looks. I personally like both, it's just that having the Kanji outside of the green box makes it look like it's not actually reading "Kunii Yūki" (obviously only applicable to someone who can't ready this specific Kanji, even if it's kind of obvious considering it's right below his romanized name). <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 20:19, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::::::::Hi {{u|Otisu}}, agree the native name looks better in the same box as the Romanised name. I did try to style the subheader to match the header, but this left a thin white line between the names. Adding the native name into the name field messes up the hCard ↗ formatting so I've added a different method to give the same layout while preserving the hCard formatting https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Template:Infobox_motorcycle_racer&diff=prev&oldid=1346773423 ↗. :::::::::::::@John B123 I think it looks perfect now! :) <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 21:17, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
{{od}} Hi {{u|Otisu}}. Points added, "Last season (2024) = 1st (6 wins/X pts)" implemented and also "Best season (2024) = 1st (6 wins/X pts)". Any other thoughts or improvements you can suggest? Regards. --John B123 (talk) 17:13, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi @John B123! I can't think of anything else to add to the draft right now, I think it looks great and has pretty much all the stuff necessary for motorcycle racing BLPs... Maybe an award parameter like the 'Championships' one? It may not be used most of the time but it could occasionally be useful for awards like Rookie of the Year and similar. Then something else I wanted to mention to you- specifically regarding the 'Championships' heading- do you think 'Championship titles' sounds clearer? It might just be me but initially my mind read it more as 'Current championships', as in where the rider is currently competing. Other than that I think it's very complete! <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 18:19, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

:::::::Hi @John B123. I just tried it in my new BLP over at Keito Abe ↗- it honestly looks really good, gives you tons of freedom and feels like an upgrade compared to the older Template:Infobox motorcycle rider ↗. Only thing I've noticed is it seems to leave a blank space between the lead and the hatnote, same case with Todd Kellett ↗- which kind of bothers me a little. Other than that it looks really nice! Regards! <span style="font-family:cursive,serif; color:#000000; text-shadow:1px 1px 2px #006600">''Otisu''</span>(talk) 22:19, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::::Hi {{u|Otisu}}, thanks. On the source for the template there is <nowiki><noinclude>{{documentation}}</noinclude></nowiki> which shows the documentation on the template page but not when you transclude the template into an article. I had left a blank line between the end of the template code and the <nowiki><noinclude></nowiki> which was causing the problem. Removing the blank line solved the problem on Todd Kellett ↗ i.e. the top of the infobox aligned with the top of the body text, but not on Keito Abe ↗. After much head scratching I found that on Keito Abe there was a blank line between the end of the infobox and the start of the body text. Removing this aligned the text with the info box. I've marked Keito Abe as reviewed btw. Regards. John B123 (talk) 08:25, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

Znak (disambiguation)
I was about to mark Znak (disambiguation) ↗ as reviewed, but then I noticed that you had unreveiwed it. Is there an issue that I haven't noticed? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:20, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi. The article Znak ↗ was a dab page but has been replaced with a newly created article that doesn't seem appropriate under that title. I was going to move the new article and restore Znak as a dab but ran out of time before going to work. Regards John B123 (talk) 08:41, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you reviewed
Hi John B123. Thank you for your work on Dwójka ↗. Another editor, Voorts, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol ↗ and left the following comment:
{{Bq|1=Please don't mark a DAB page as patrolled if it's formatted completely incorrectly.}}
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{code|<nowiki>{{Re|</nowiki>Voorts<nowiki>}}</nowiki>}}. <small>(Message delivered via the Page Curation ↗ tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)</small><!-- Template:Sentnote-NPF -->

: {{re|Voorts}} How was the page not formatted incorrectly? --John B123 (talk) 20:47, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
::This ↗ is what the page looked like when you marked it patrolled. It didn't contain the '''Dwójka''' may refer to and the {{tl|dab}} template was above the content of the DAB page. voorts (talk/contributions ↗) 20:50, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Concern regarding Draft:Harley-Davidson 250cc two-strokes ↗
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, John B123. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Harley-Davidson 250cc two-strokes ↗, a page you created, has not been edited in at least five months. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 16:07, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for all the speedy deletion designations - I had been cleaning up after another editor who moved a whole bunch of poor articles from draftspace, by moving them back to draftspace, and didn't realize I needed to tag the articlespace article for deletion. Sorry you had to clean up after my cleanup! BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 19:34, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
: Hi {{u|BubbaJoe123456}}, no problem. Unfortunately, per WP:DRAFTNO ↗, once an article has been moved out of draftspace it shouldn't be moved back there. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 19:49, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Braison Cyrus page edits
Hey there,
Would you mind not reversing my edits to Braison Cyrus's wikipedia page? It originally linked to his father's page, but I am now trying to make him his own page since he is now an independent singer with music available for purchase/streaming, not just the son of another singer. I'd really appreciate it if you didn't keep undoing my edits. Thank you Anthonygt29 (talk) 20:23, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
: Hi Anthonygt29. The page was unreferenced which is essential for biographies of living people ↗. I would suggest you create the page at Draft:Braison Cyrus ↗ and when it is suitably referenced and shows he complies with the notability guidelines ↗ it can be moved to mainspace. Regards --John B123 (talk) 20:43, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

''European Commission v Hungary ↗''
Hello, John B123! Would you mind marking the article for '''''European Commission v Hungary ↗''''' as reviewed so that the article appears in search engine results? The case easily exceeds the requirements of Wikipedia:Notability ↗. Justthefacts (talk) 20:12, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
: {{re|Justthefacts}} There are currently over 16,000 articles awaiting review. Requesting a review from multiple editors ({{u|JTtheOG}}, {{u|Utopes}}, {{u|Slgrandson}}, {{u|Overthrows}} and myself) a couple of hours after an article is created seems grossly unfair to other editors who are awaiting their article's review. I always wonder about people who are concerned about their article's search engine results, it suggests they have some hidden agenda to me. Having a quick look at the article WP:OVERCITE ↗ seems applicable. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 20:33, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
::{{Reply to|John B123}} You responded very cordially the last time ↗ that I brought an article to your attention for review, so I'm not sure as to why the change in attitude. I always meticulously ensure that articles I create adhere to the guidelines and policies of Wikipedia, so that is why I bring articles that I create to the attention of new page patrollers for review, because the articles are always ready to review. --Justthefacts (talk) 20:49, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
:::{{tq|because the articles are always ready to review}} I'm sure the authors of the other 16k articles think the same. Why the change in attitude? As I mentioned previously, people who seem concerned about search engine listings set alarm bells ringing in my head, John B123 (talk) 21:50, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

::Possibly AI-generated? JTtheOG (talk) 20:39, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
:::{{Reply to|JTtheOG}} Absolutely not. Nor does it even remotely resemble such. I always spend many long hours on creating new articles and meticulously ensuring that articles I create adhere to the guidelines and policies of Wikipedia before publishing any articles at all. --Justthefacts (talk) 20:50, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Categorisation fixed — kindly review
Hello @John B123,
Thank you for the recent suggestion regarding a page I created, Directorate of Technical Co-operation in Africa ↗ (Tag: uncategorised). I have now added the appropriate categories to the article and would be grateful if you could kindly review the page.
I also recently created two other articles: Nigerian Technical Aid Corps ↗ and Musa Sani Nuhu ↗. If they meet the relevant requirements, I would greatly appreciate a review. Otherwise, I would be thankful for any suggestions on how they may be improved.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Best regards Bemmax (talk) 07:19, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{u|Bemmax}}. Musa Sani Nuhu ↗ looks OK. Directorate of Technical Co-operation in Africa ↗ relies too much on primary sources ↗, ie the DTCA own site, also references to other Wikipipedia articles are to be avoided ↗. If you can add some secondary sources ↗ instead that would be good. I get a site not found for the first and last references on Nigerian Technical Aid Corps ↗. As they are both to NTAC you might want to replace them with secondary refs. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 18:58, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
::Thank you for the feedback. I will fix it accordingly. Bemmax (talk) 20:38, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
