Help with Soul ↗ GA nomination
Hi, @Justiyaya! Since we last spoke, I have successfully promoted 2 articles to GA level (those being Religious responses to the problem of evil ↗ and classical theism ↗).
Now, I am working with two other editors on improving the article about Soul ↗. However, we have run into two big problems that aren't related with the contents of the article, but rather with its presentation: ''italics'' and blue links ↗. The entire article has very inconsistent usage of them. If you have a bit of time, I would be extremely grateful if you helped fixed these things in that article. Brent Silby (talk) 20:51, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
:Hi @Brent Silby, that is excellent news and great progress! I think I will be quite busy in the next month or so and will be on WikiBreak unfortunately. If I have a moment I would certainly try to. Can you help me review Draft:Wikipedia:Project S.C.R.A.M. ↗. I don't if such pages should be created via AFC. :Hello Cactusisme, AfC is definitely not the right place for Wikipedia namespace pages (AfC stands for ''articles'' for creation). I've never really edited humorous WP namespace pages before but I do believe that as long as it's socially acceptable and at least somewhat helpful / relating to Wikipedia it should be fine. Do ask somewhere else if you want an actual opinion though. I am on Wikibreak at the moment and I have only taken a very brief glance of the page you linked. Hello Justiyaya:
'''WikiProject Articles for creation ↗''' is holding a '''month long Backlog Drive ↗ in June!'''<br />
The goal of this drive is to '''reduce''' the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 1 month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 June 2025 through 30 June 2025.
You may find :Category:AfC pending submissions by age ↗ or other categories and sorting ↗ helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.<br />
There is a backlog of over {{Rounddown|{{formatnum:3,205|R}}|-2}} pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Goodjellymusic1 (01:25, 8 June 2025)
Hi there. I feel there is a number of political debates about my country that I can prove are incorrect. Meaning both sides. I have a political party that is benevolent and I;d like to add. First my concern is the write ups about the victims of oppressions and targeted invdividuals, victims of ..dissents etc having pages that question weather this is delusional people being encouraged by engaging sites, or if it is real. I think both, but the queestion these days shouldn;t be weather it is real or not. Many can prove it is real but gangstalkers and govts don;t want us to know. Basically I'm saying, in short..that you have gangstalkers and terrorists and psychopaths developing pages to have victims doubted. This is harsh and people die, after being blamed, tortured, and slandered. They are at unrest. Thank you for your advice in what approach i can take to end this corruption to sites, including ai information, so please don't take it personally. --Goodjellymusic1 (talk) 01:25, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Goodjellymusic1, sorry, but your message is quite difficult to understand and I don't think I fully understood what you are trying to communicate. I would generally recommend looking briefly though neutrality ↗ and verifiability ↗ as I think you can benefit from understanding the basics on what Wikipedia content is based off of. Typically, articles take death counts from reliable sources of information.
:If you have concerns over a specific page or edit, please link it or give me the article name. Otherwise, I really could not help much. It would also be helpful for you to mention specifically what change you propose and a reliable source that supports your edit. Question from Thwd-lorax (21:40, 9 June 2025)
Hi there, I'm wondering what are the requirements to create a new wikipedia page? I've got one that I'm working on in my sandbox but I'm not sure how to actually get that onto a live page. thanks in advance --Thwd-lorax (talk) 21:40, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
:@Thwd-lorax Writing a new article is one of the harder things for new users to accomplish but I've glanced at your draft and it looks very well written. I've put an articles for creation template on the page and done some minor cleanup, you can click the blue button when you are done with it to submit it for a review. Alternatively, you can also drop me a message here and I'll take a look. I have a very basic understanding of the topic, so if you would like someone with expertise to do a review, try Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemistry ↗.
:Adding inline citations on the "Discovery and Background" section could be helpful for verifiability ↗. :Hi Kabilavutto, welcome to Wikipedia! You've asked a quite broad question and I need more details (like what subject you intend to write the article on, what sources you have gathered) to provide a more specific answer. In general, Help:Your first article ↗ is quite a good place to start. However, I believe most new articles by newer users end up not being published, especially if you have a conflict of interest ↗ with the subject. ::@Cactusisme User that wrote the draft appears to have an undisclosed paid COI as its production company. You should ask for a WP:DISCLOSURE ↗ and name change ↗ from the submitter. ::Sourcing wise,
::#NFI looks to be a government source, probably not secondary.
::#BBC appears to be online streaming for the film, not really useable
::#The film's website (not independent)
::#A festivalcinemambiente listing of the film
::#The homepage of the ficmec film festival
::#ticket website for a screening of the film (barnefilmfestivalen)
::#Thessaloniki Film Festival
::#I'm not sure about the cinemateket source, a machine translation does not seem to show any coverage beyond a synopsis
::#another film festival
::So there does not appear to be a single source surrounding that actually meets WP:GNG ↗. I've declined the draft for now and will leave a message on COIs and stuff. Growth News #34
<div class="plainlinks mw-content-ltr" lang="en" dir="ltr">
right|frameless|class=skin-invert ↗
''A quarterly update from the Growth team on our work to improve the new editor experience.''
Mentoring new editors
In February, Mentorship ↗ was successfully rolled out to 100% of newcomers on English Wikipedia. Following this milestone, we collaborated with Spanish Wikipedia to expand Mentorship coverage to 70% of new accounts, with plans to reach 85% soon unless concerns are raised by mentors. (T394867 ↗)
“Add a Link” Task – Iteration and Experimentation
Our efforts to improve and scale the “Add a Link” structured task ↗ continued across multiple fronts:
- '''Community Feedback & Model Improvements''': We’ve responded to community concerns with targeted changes:
- * Restricting access to newer accounts (T393688 ↗)
- * Some links types were removed to align with recommendations written in the English Wikipedia Manual of Style (T390683 ↗)
- * Allowing communities to limit “Add a Link” to newcomers (T393771 ↗)
- * The model used to suggest the links was improved to ease its training (T388258 ↗)
- '''English Wikipedia rollout and A/B test''': We increased the rollout to 20% of newcomers, with analysis underway. Preliminary data suggests this feature makes new account holders more likely to complete an unreverted edit. (T386029 ↗, T382603 ↗)
- '''Surfacing Structured Tasks''': An experiment where we show “add a link” suggestions to newly registered users while they are reading an article is running on pilot wikis (French, Persian, Indonesian, Portuguese, Egyptian Arabic). Initial results are under analysis. (T386029 ↗)
Newcomer Engagement Features
- '''“Get Started” notification''': Engineering is in progress for a new notification (Echo/email) to encourage editing among newcomers with zero edits. Early research shows this type of nudge is effective. (T392256 ↗)
- '''Confirmation email:''' We are exploring ways to simplify and improve the initial account confirmation email newly registered users receive. (T215665 ↗)
Community Configuration Enhancements
Communities can now manage which namespaces are eligible for Event Registration via Community Configuration ↗. (T385341 ↗)
Annual Planning
The Wikimedia Foundation’s 2025–2026 Annual Plan is taking shape. The Growth and Editing teams will focus on the '''Contributor Experiences (WE1)''' objective ↗, with a focus on increasing '''constructive edits''' by editors with fewer than 100 cumulative contributions.
Get Involved
We value your insights and ideas! If you would like to participate in a discussion, share feedback, or pilot new features, please reach out on the relevant Phabricator tasks or at our talk page ↗, in any language.

:Hi @AlexandraCFishman, the edit was reverted by {{u|Gatemansgc}}. We typically don't name authors inline but instead use footnotes as citations. :Hi Jrtaaron, welcome to Wikipedia! I've placed a template on the top of the page and you can click the blue button that says "submit this draft for review!" when you are ready. :Hello @Treemarsupial, welcome to Wikipedia! The most glaring issue I see are the sources that are being used. What about articles like this one, written by their official staff writer https://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/corporate-gifting-b-to-b-marketers/ ? The point of this new page I'm trying to create is not to promote any specific company but to give a wider view of the business area and a US$1 trillion market. :::Hi @Treemarsupial, I'm quite sure the trade magazine you linked is good to use and I see your point about various companies falling under this industry. I'll be happy to help with the article if you have more reliable sources covering it and if you are willing to rewrite the article based on those sources. The theory behind this is that (English) Wikipedia should be based on what reliable sources say and if there aren't much reliable sources we should not have a stand alone article. I would much rather make sure that you have the multiple reliable sources that are required for an article than having you write it first and it never be published ↗. If you're willing to post them below I'll be happy to take a look. Hello!
I have a translation (english-portuguese) for a article that currently appears only in english Wikipedia. How can i contribute to create a corresponding article for portuguese Wikipedia? --Arsandrius (talk) 00:18, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
:Hi Arsandrius, welcome to Wikipedia! I am not familiar with Portuguese Wikipedia but the question should be directed there, probably at :pt:Ajuda:Tire suas dúvidas ↗ or perhaps using the newcomer homepage on that Wikipedia ↗. Different language Wikipedias have a different set of policies, including the ones that decide what subjects should have an article. Question from MountainWriter42 (02:59, 28 July 2025)
Submission declined on 27 July 2025 by Qcne (talk).
The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Please cite your sources using footnotes. For instructions on how to do this, please see Referencing for beginners. Thank you.
Your draft shows signs of having been generated by a large language model, such as ChatGPT. Their outputs usually have multiple issues that prevent them from meeting our guidelines on writing articles. These include:
Promotional tone, editorializing and other words to watch
Vague, generic, and speculative statements extrapolated from similar subjects
Essay-like writing
Hallucinations (plausible-sounding, but false information) and non-existent references
Close paraphrasing
Please address these issues. The best way is usually to read reliable sources and summarize them, instead of using a large language model. See our help page on large language models.
If you would like to continue working on the submission, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
If you have not resolved the issues listed above, your draft will be declined again and potentially deleted.
If you need extra help, please ask us a question at the AfC Help Desk or get live help from experienced editors.
Please do not remove reviewer comments or this notice until the submission is accepted.

Question from Watch boffin (18:38, 28 July 2025)
Thanks for getting in touch. My own entry (not written by me!) needs a fair bit of attention. I don't have time to work on it right now, sorry. But what if I was to send you a copy of my proposed "new look" entry for your advice (when I could get around to it)? Would you be willing to check it for me and suggest how to remove the old one and replace it with a new one? Or is that not a good strategy? Should I just tinker with the existing one, making necessary changes here and there? Thanks, "watch boffin" --Watch boffin (talk) 18:38, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
:Hi @Watch boffin, thanks for reaching out. The policy for editing an article about yourself (I think this is what you mean by "own entry"?) is that you can only propose changes on the article's talk page. You should not edit it except in cases of obvious vandalism (WP:AUTOBIO ↗). Talk pages are usually linked right beneath the article title (should be a blue "talk") and you should open a section there. Please place <code><nowiki>{{Edit COI}}</nowiki></code> in the section as well so it gets reviewed. I'll be happy to take a look if I have time. I'm guessing they usually get answered in a few weeks anyways.
:A good strategy is usually to propose smaller changes so reviewers can easily apply them. They should be well sourced and neutral (not promotional) and the justification should be succinct. The sources usually needs to be secondary and from a reliable source but in limited cases we allow self published sources from the subject themselves (WP:ABOUTSELF ↗). Wikipedia:Guide to effective COI edit requests ↗ is a more thorough guide. Feel free to ask additional questions if you need it! - Following a request for comment ↗, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15 ↗, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model ↗ (LLM) without human review.
- Following a request for comment ↗, there is a new policy ↗ outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts ↗. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ↗ ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.
20px|alt= ↗ '''Technical news'''
- Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" ↗ Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing ↗. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration ↗ page.
20px|alt= ↗ '''Arbitration'''
- The arbitration case ''Indian military history ↗'' has been closed.
- * South Asia (WP:CT/SA ↗) is designated a contentious topic ↗. The topic area is specifically defined as {{tq|All pages related to the region of South Asia ↗ (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.}}
- * The contentious topic designations for Sri Lanka ↗ (SL) and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan ↗ (IPA) are folded into this new contentious topic.
- * The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups ↗ (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.
- The arbitration case ''Article titles and capitalisation 2 ↗'' has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 31 July.
- The arbitration case ''Transgender healthcare and people ↗'' has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 11 August.

Yo, how can i make my own article on a person here?. --Swing gators (talk) 07:58, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Swing gators, biographies of living people as your first article is one of the hardest things you can do here as a beginner. I would recommend doing some of the WP:TASKS ↗ first to get some experience. That being said, looking through WP:YFA ↗ and WP:BLP ↗ is a good place to start. Make sure that the subject meets the notability standards (which has a confusing mess of exceptions) which is briefly that the subject has three reliable, published, secondary sources providing in depth coverage independent of the subject. If you do decide to pursue this, I'll be happy to check your sourcing before you start. Having not met the notability guidelines is where most articles fail and it'd be often a huge waste of time if that occurs. Question from DaveNorthants02 (09:11, 12 September 2025)
Hi,
Just to introduce myself as I have been allocated to yu as my mentor - thanks in advance! Currently I do not have any edits but I most probably will in the forthcoming weeks.
I am an 83yr old male based in UK, I am relatively computer literate and use Wikipedia for one thing or another every day as I find it a good baseplate for more in-depth research.
When I have an issue I will come back to you!
Thanks --DaveNorthants02 (talk) 09:11, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from 0401Stefan (15:09, 15 September 2025)
Hi.
I am the label manager for Clutch's Weathermaker Music. Clutch's lead singer is Neil Fallon, who has a Wikipedia page. Neil asked me to find a way to delete the 2nd paragraph beginning with "In a 2016 interview, ..." under "Personal Life". Neil did not post this.
Thank you. --0401Stefan (talk) 15:09, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @0401Stefan, thanks for the question. The subject of the article has little say over what is in their Wikipedia entries. That being said, the quote does seem too long and bulky ↗. I think one sentence about his political beliefs is really the most an article should have unless the subject has significant involvement in it. If his beliefs has changed, this could also be reflected if there is a published source reflecting this (I'm not sure if WP:ABOUTSELF ↗ would apply here, but that'd also be something to consider). I'll ping JasonH1978 who added the section for their thoughts. '''<span style="color:#1d556d">Just</span>''''''<span style="color:#000000">i</span>''' ↗'''<span style="color:#6d351d">yaya</span>''' 22:38, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
::We're asking for that 2nd paragraph to simply be deleted. We don't want people interpreting what Neil said several years ago to make him look as though he is supporting Trump or not. Our polarized times are difficult enough. TY 2600:4041:428D:7E00:188F:2C8E:90A2:72E ↗ (talk) 23:29, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
:::I think there might be a case for that as well. I'll ask that you give the user that added it a moment to respond. I'd take a closer look in few days if nothing occurs. If I'm busy, there are also other avenues to raise concerns about biographies which I'll point you to. ::::@0401Stefan I've removed the section directly. Sorry about the delay, I would have done so a lot earlier but I've forgotten. I don't think there is a good reason to include the paragraph if the only mention of it is briefly during one single interview, especially to have it take up so much space in the personal life section. Following the instructions at WP:BIOSELF ↗ would be a faster way to approach this, but asking me also works. :Hi Joslynmaria, making a new article on Wikipedia is one of the hardest things a beginner can do. I would recommend pursuing another task ↗ here to gain some experience first. Hello Justiyaya,
It's a pleasure to have you as my mentor. About a month ago, I created a new article draft. I was wondering if you could advise on how to get it through the review process more quickly? Here is the link to the draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Shu_Qiao

:Hello @Yuxin Qiao, you might want to remove all of the external links in the article. They are usually only allowed in the body of the article in very limited circumstances. Growth News #35
<div class="plainlinks mw-content-ltr" lang="en" dir="ltr">
right|frameless|class=skin-invert ↗
''A quarterly update from the Growth team on our work to improve the new editor experience.''
New releases
= English Wikipedia gets "Add a Link" Structured Task =
We released ↗ the "Add a Link" Structured Task ↗ to 100% of accounts at English Wikipedia on Tuesday, September 2nd (before then it was available to 20% of accounts).
= Growth features for Wikidata =
After examining if the Growth features and Mentorship could be adapted to Wikidata, we activated the Growth features on Beta Wikidata ↗ to allow for testing and discussion (T400937 ↗).
Although some features, like Suggested Edits, are Wikipedia-specific, the Growth team designed most features to be more wiki-agnostic.
Work in progress
= Revise Tone Structured Task =
The Growth team is making progress on the technical architecture, onboarding design, and early user testing ↗.
We are targeting an A/B test before the end of this year, with constructive edits by newcomers as the primary success metric.
= Add a link to more wikis =
The machine learning team has been working on a new model that can suggest links to more languages, including Urdu, Chinese, and Japanese Wikipedias. We are starting to release ↗ the “Add a Link” feature to Wikipedias that weren’t supported by the previous model.
Add a link ↗, which can be configured by the community locally ↗, increases the chance that a new contributor will make their first edit and then continue to participate in Wikipedia.
Research
The Growth team is involved in several research initiatives to help guide our future work:
Progression System ↗ – We have published ↗ initial findings from interviews with 10 English and French Wikipedia newcomers.
The research examined motivations, challenges, and feedback on a prototype system intended to help editors build confidence, develop skills, and contribute more constructively over time.
Mobile Web Editing Research ↗ – This project combines quantitative and qualitative data, community feedback, and user journey analysis to identify possible ways to enhance the mobile editing experience.
Newcomers Survey ↗ – This project surveys successful newcomers on English Wikipedia to understand their early editing experiences, tool use, and community interactions.
Community events
The Growth team participated in several community events to listen, share, and collaborate on improving newcomer experiences across Wikimedia projects.
'''Wikimania - Organizers as key partners to support newcomers' growth in our movement ↗'''
This session invited organizers to share how they introduce newcomers to Growth features and the challenges they encounter. The discussion focused on common newcomer questions and opportunities to strengthen collaboration in supporting new editors.
'''Wikimania - Lightning Talk: Structured Tasks ↗'''
This talk demonstrated how Structured Tasks help newcomers take their first successful steps on Wikipedia. It shared impact data, community configurations, and a demo of “Add a Link,” illustrating how these tasks make editing more accessible and sustainable, particularly for mobile contributors.
'''Wikimania - Building a Sustainable Future for Wikimedia Contributors ↗'''
With active editor numbers declining, the Contributors Strategy ↗ aims to create a clearer, more engaging path for participation. This session, led by the WMF Contributors group with involvement from the Editing, Growth, Moderator Tools, and Connection (formerly Campaigns) teams, highlighted efforts to streamline contributor experiences, offer structured and mobile-friendly workflows, and foster meaningful engagement. Participants learned about ongoing initiatives and shared feedback to help shape a more inclusive and sustainable future for Wikimedia contributors.
'''CEE Meeting - Retaining beginners and improving content moderation: an inclusive and sustainable future for Wikipedia contributors ↗'''
Many communities face a decline in volunteer engagement. Newcomers often leave soon after joining, while experienced editors struggle to manage increasingly complex workflows and overwhelming backlogs. We presented the Contributors Strategy ↗ and the different features and workflows that can help communities to address these challenges. We listened to the specific needs of the CEE communities to help guide the Contributors teams' work.

Question from Privatus43 (14:32, 2 November 2025)
Beetle Bailey
1. Under "Further Reading" there is a list of published books. I would like to list the 89 paperback comic books, which are the largest and most homogeneous group, in a separate list.
2. Where can I find rules and instructions regarding fonts and font sizes?
Sincerely,
Privatus --Privatus43 (talk) 14:32, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
:Hi Privatus43, welcome to Wikipedia! The list in the article seems quite long, I worry that some editors might think it is a bit excessive. Since they're already there, I can't see adding a heading/subsection as being harmful though. I would use a level 3 heading like <code>===name of subheading===</code> to separate the paperbacks you are suggesting. We do not typically manually set fonts and font sizes but instead rely on the default for consistency. Thanks for your contributions here and feel free ask more questions if needed! Question from BeaufortNoble (15:44, 8 November 2025)
> Hello Justiaya,
I’m deeply interested in history and historical investigations.
I often research various cases independently — for example, the Johnstown case particularly fascinates me, and I’ve been studying it as an independent investigator.
My broader goal on Wikipedia is to contribute to the revision and correction of historical narratives, to make them more accurate and closer to real documented facts rather than the simplified or “winner-written” versions that have often dominated public history.
As my first contribution, I would like to focus on my verified ancestral line — Lady Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Devon (c. 1411–1449) and her daughter Lady Agnes Courtenay (c. 1448 – 1485/6), wife of Richard Saunders of Charlwood, Surrey.
This update is supported by multiple published genealogical and archival sources, including:
House of Beaufort – Courtenay Branch Lineage (Final v3, 2025 revision)
Visitations of Counties (Colby ed., 1895)
The Free Men of Charlwood (Charlwood Society, 2023)
ThePeerage.com and FamilySearch records.
I plan to update both related articles:
Thomas de Courtenay, 5th/13th Earl of Devon
Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Devon
My intent is to bring history closer to factual reality through verified corrections, proper sourcing, and careful contextualization — in line with Wikipedia’s mission of accuracy and neutrality.
Please let me know whether you recommend starting this work in a sandbox or editing the articles directly.
Thank you very much for your guidance and time.

:@BeaufortNoble, that's a very interesting place to start editing. You seem to have most of the important things down but I would still recommend reviewing Help:Introduction ↗. Afterwards, I would edit the pages directly. Please remember to cite your sources and write in a neutral, encyclopedic tone. Feel free to come back to ask more questions or feedback on your edits. Question from Chewbacca2029 (04:14, 12 November 2025)
Hi, I keep getting flagged for AI use, and I just finished adding my citations to the article. Obviously, I'm not done with my research and would like to continue working on this article despite the wiki classes ending tomorrow. Could you please review and identify any items I may have missed? --Chewbacca2029 (talk) 04:14, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
:Hi Chewbacca2029, I don't think there is a flag / edit filter specifically for AI. There might be one for citing chatGPT or something like that. I could be wrong though. I think the edit has gone through, I will take a look in a moment. '''<span style="color:#1d556d">Just</span>''''''<span style="color:#000000">i</span>''' ↗'''<span style="color:#6d351d">yaya</span>''' 04:42, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
::@Chewbacca2029 I've taken a look at your edits on the page. Unfortunately, I had to revert to the page's previous version. I don't see sources that clearly supports the addition of Rachel Dolezal and the section on Reverse Passing as a part of this article. The article Racial misrepresentation ↗ (which is in the hatnote at the top of the page) seems to be a better location for what you are saying, which already contains a short listing about Dolezal. In addition, the citation you added only contains three sentences on Dolezal. You've written a longer section about her than what the source that you are referencing has. This brings up WP:BLP ↗ concerns. We try to be quite strict when writing biographies of living persons with our standards of neutrality and sourcing. I don't think the paragraph meets the standard for sourcing with wsj alone.
::The court cases subsection definitely does not belong in the popular culture section. I would also question their inclusion in the article if there is only one or two sources mentioning it. Also, I can't find anything in the citation that supports "Some theories suggest that it was his alienation and struggle with his multiracial identity that contributed to his efforts to validate a white identity. Other theorists believed that the contradictions inherent in racial categorization were the primary cause of the problem". I'm removing that section as well because of the sourcing concerns.
::If I've misinterpreted what you said or I'm incorrect/missed something above, please correct me. I'm always open to questions. Your version of the article is saved it the article history, which you can access via Special:Permalink/1321705728 ↗. Question from Tiny rule of the sea (23:33, 18 November 2025)

:Hi @Tiny rule of the sea, you can move ↗ the sandbox to retitle it. That being said, I think writing a new article is quite difficult. Most of the time, it does not end up going that well. Question from Thekittyburger (02:41, 20 November 2025)
Hi, I wanted to ask if it would be appropriate to make an article for the Pokèmon line of Litten, Torracat, and Incineroar?
It first appeared alongside Popplio, Brionne, and Primarina which has its own article going into the reactions towards it's design, when it was first announced to present day. The litten line being a starter meant it also received a lot of scrutiny and many Internet memes were made in response, so I thought it might be useful for it to have its own article, as Ive only found basic information on the line in the List of generation VII Pokémon article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_generation_VII_Pok%C3%A9mon#).
Just thought I'd ask before trying anything, I'm very new and I don't know if this has been asked before so.
Thanks in advance :) !! --Thekittyburger (talk) 02:41, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
:Hi Kit! Welcome to Wikipedia. Do you have reliable, secondary sources that provide signficant coverage to the Pokemon line? It sounds like an interesting article, however, it needs to meet our guidelines for notability ↗. If a significantly long article could be made with reliable sources (like a few paragraphs), I think a stand alone article could be made. Question from Cdominic8 on Vickers machine gun ↗ (01:48, 3 December 2025)
Hi! I'm a newer editor, and I got assigned you for my mentor :) While doing some (pretty major, as copyedits go) copyedits, I had a quick question about the Vickers MG article: For most of the article, the gun is spoken of in the past tense, but in some parts, including the "Operating mechanism" section, it switches to present tense. I don't know if this is normal for wikipedia, and I'd rather not switch everything to past tense, just to realize it was correctly formatted. If you could rq check it out, it'd help a lot, and thanks! --Cdominic8 (talk) 01:48, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
:@Cdominic8 That's a really interesting question! I took a look at the manual of style section ↗ that I think determines an article is in a past tense or not, and it is saying {{green|By default, write articles in the present tense, including those covering works of fiction (see Wikipedia:Writing better articles § Tense in fiction) and '''products or works that have been discontinued'''.}} (bold added by me). In this case, using present tense to describe the features of the subject (as in "Vickers machine gun is a water-cooled..."), while using past tense to describe events that happened to the subject (like "Vickers machine gun was introduced" would be correct) should probably be done. Some articles does not seem to follow the style guide, like Winchester Model 1886 ↗, which could be fun to fix. Question from V1nh in spac3 (13:56, 12 December 2025)
Hello! I'm new to editing and want to improve the Poetry of Sappho article (specifically the table in the "poems" section, I'm pretty sure some of it is gibberish), but I don't know what to do, where to start, or how to do it. If you can check it and give me a few suggestions I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! --V1nh in spac3 (talk) 13:56, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
:Hello! That looks quite confusing. I would start by looking at if there are other reliable sources detailing what you would like to improve, or if the original source could be located, that might be a good starting point as well. If no source could be found, I would recommend removing the information. Tables ↗ are a bit hard to work with, so feel free to ask for help / advice if you need it! :::I've been studying for end term exams lately, so I can't spend much time editing on here :< I do need help with sourcing though. (I'm bad at detecting tones and biases...) I'm a bit confused about what qualifies as a reliable source, is the average top result on Google okay? Do I need in-depth knowledge on the topic? And if the information really needs to be removed, do I leave parts of the table blank? <span style="background-color: #1d1985; padding: 3px 4px 3px 4px;"> <span style="color: LightCyan"> ⋆。°✩ '''''vinh in space''''' </span> <span style="color: #e6d2fc"> (✉✦) </span> </span> 13:40, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
::::Hi @V1nh in spac3 cool signature! Yeah final exams do eat up a bunch of time. Reliable sources ↗ depend on the situation that you are using it for. The top result on google might be a reddit thread or youtube video, which are likely self published ↗ and rarely should be used. You might find WP:RSPS ↗ helpful for a general guide on sources. More specific source guides exist, such as WP:ALBUMS/SOURCES ↗. You definitely do not need to an expert and you could leave parts of the table blank. I don't have that much experience working with tables though. I might suggest removing a whole column or row if nothing turns up.
::::Definintely do not worry if you don't have time to contribute. There is no deadline ↗! '''<span style="color:#1d556d">Just</span>''''''<span style="color:#000000">i</span>''' ↗'''<span style="color:#6d351d">yaya</span>''' 06:44, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

:::Hi @John Simmons3, the notability guidelines states ↗ that generally, a subject should be notable if they have multiple, reliable, secondary sources providing significant coverage to the subject. I don't think that De Alba meets this, at least with the sources you have provided. I've also done a brief search and nothing much seems to turn up. I also don't think he meets the any of the additional guidelines surrounding people specifically ↗. I could certainly have missed some sources, but I don't think the subject is notable at the moment. If you are starting out, and is here to contribute, I would suggest pursuing another task first. If you think I'm wrong, send me two or three sources and I could take a look in depth. ::::::About the “first and only Latino” claim
::::::I did not find a reliable, published source that explicitly states Sergio de Alba was the first and only Latino to win the Gilder Lehrman National History Teacher of the Year award. If you want a truly “all awards” link list, we will need public citations for each remaining award that is not easily findable online (for example, iCivics Civic Champion Award, USDA Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award), because I did not locate authoritative pages for those in this pass.

::::::
::::::Talk: Sergio de Alba
::::::Notability and sourcing rationale
::::::This draft meets Wikipedia’s General Notability Guideline (WP:GNG) and Biographies of Living Persons (WP:BLP) standards based on multiple independent, reliable, secondary sources documenting sustained national recognition.
::::::1. Independent national recognition
::::::Sergio de Alba has received multiple national-level awards and fellowships administered by independent organizations, including:
::::::Induction into the National Teachers Hall of Fame
::::::National History Teacher of the Year, Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History
::::::Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship (U.S. Department of Energy)
::::::American Civic Education Teacher Award, Center for Civic Education
::::::Each of these honors is supported by organizational webpages or press releases and is independent of the subject, satisfying WP:INDEPENDENT and WP:RS.
::::::Wikipedia precedent supports notability for educators who have received major national awards or hall of fame induction, even when they are classroom teachers rather than administrators or academics (see comparable biographies of National Teachers Hall of Fame inductees).
::::::2. Multiple reliable sources, not a single-award profile
::::::This article does not rely on a single event or award. Instead, it draws from:
::::::National Teachers Hall of Fame inductee profile
::::::Gilder Lehrman Institute national award announcement and winner lists
::::::U.S. Department of Energy Einstein Fellowship alumni page
::::::Keizai Koho Center fellowship publications
::::::Fund for Teachers fellow compilations
::::::National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship biobook
::::::Center for Civic Education award announcements
::::::These sources collectively establish significant coverage rather than trivial mentions, satisfying WP:GNG.
::::::3. Use of awards and fellowships is policy-appropriate
::::::While Wikipedia discourages indiscriminate award lists, it explicitly allows awards to establish notability when they are:
::::::National or international in scope
::::::Independently administered
::::::Covered by reliable secondary sources
::::::All awards and fellowships included in this article meet those criteria. No résumé-only, self-published, or unverifiable claims are included.
::::::4. “First Latino” distinction
::::::The article states that published Gilder Lehrman materials identify de Alba as the first Latino recipient of the National History Teacher of the Year Award. This claim is attributed to institutional award coverage rather than asserted in Wikipedia’s voice, in line with WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV.
::::::If editors request further corroboration, this claim can be narrowed or removed without affecting the subject’s overall notability, which is already established independently through hall of fame induction and multiple national honors.
::::::5. Promotional tone concerns
::::::The article has been deliberately written in a neutral, descriptive tone and avoids superlatives, advocacy language, or excessive detail about classroom practice. The structure follows standard biography formatting and aligns with WP:NPOV.
::::::6. Why this article merits standalone status
::::::Under Wikipedia policy, standalone articles are appropriate when a subject has:
::::::Significant coverage in reliable sources
::::::Recognition beyond a local context
::::::Enduring relevance rather than one-time publicity
::::::This subject meets all three criteria through national awards, federal and international fellowships, and induction into a national hall of fame. John Simmons3 (talk) 21:16, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

:Hello Hans, welcome to Wikipedia. Are you trying to write an autobiography ↗ for yourself? Attempts at writing autobiographies does not typically end well and are usually a waste of time. You've mentioned two colleagues, the relevant policies here are WP:NPROF ↗ and WP:NBIO ↗. Jan Koenderink probably meets criteria 3 of WP:NACADEMIC ↗ as they are a fellow of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. The article for Nicolai Petkov ↗ is in quite bad shape, and honestly they might not meet the notability guidelines. Your userpage was deleted because it was promotional, and we don't usually allow lengthy userpages that are not Wikipedia related from newer contributors. ::Hi Justiyaya. Yes, I planned to create a short article about my background and activities with links to github where I can put more extensive information. At my retirement the university deleted my webpages, so now nobody can find my background information, even my email address. I am not a bragging kind of person, but Research Gate lists 166 publications with 21687 reads and 2381 citations, 50 co-authors. Science Direct (Elsevier) mentions 959 citations from 804 publications, and an h-index of 15 (at least 15 papers with at least 15 citations) and 102 co-authors. Question from Blankvoideyes (09:28, 16 January 2026)
:''Note: Blankvoideyes's mentor Clovermoss is away.''
Hi! This is my first question here.
The {{no redirect|Hex_(1998_novel)|Hex(1998 novel)}} article was closed in 2015 because users deemed it irrelevant but a lesser known book from the same author has a proper page.
Would reinstating and updating it be appropriate in this case? And if so, would it be okay for a relatively inexperienced editor like me to try?
- Thanks in advance! - --Blankvoideyes (talk) 09:28, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
:Hi @Blankvoideyes, welcome to Wikipedia! You could certainly do so, but you must address the issues mentioned in the discussion while doing so. The discussion ↗ took issue with the notability ↗ of the subject. I couldn't find evidence that things has changed since the discussion or that the discussion left out sources in a very brief search. If you are not confident going ahead and writing an article, send me your sources and I could take a look. You could also ask for the page to be restored in draft space for it to be improved if you would like at WP:Undelete ↗. '''<span style="color:#1d556d">Just</span>''''''<span style="color:#000000">i</span>''' ↗'''<span style="color:#6d351d">yaya</span>''' 09:59, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
::Okay, thank you very much @Justiyaya! I found these sources; a german review ↗ from 2023 and this opinion piece ↗ from 2019. (Can a german source even be considered for english Wikipedia?) Let me know if they seem suffient and if so I will try my best to piece something together in my sandbox. -- Blankvoideyes (talk) 11:25, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
:::Hi Blankvoideyes, a non-English source will be fine. However, I am concerned about the amount of coverage that there is. I'm not familiar with either source. ''Book Riot ↗'' seems to be fine, but they only allocate a part of an article on the book. If we assume the German article is fine, the article is almost notable. The guideline says ''multiple'' reliable published secondary sources providing significant coverage independent of the subject (WP:GNG ↗, it's a mouthful I know). I would say it leans towards the not notable side if another source or two could not be found. Two good sources if you want to be safe.
:::You could definitely make a section about the book on the author's article. You could change the redirect to that section directly. I would definitely take a look at any other sources you have or answer any question. If you would like a second opinion, post a thread on the Teahouse ↗.
:::I think coverage on books are a bit weak. There's definitely a ton of lesser known novels that could have an article about them. If you would like a book to write about, drop me a message! Unpaid Living Biography
Hello,
I have a concern to raise about being rejected for trying to submit a Living Person Biography with the reason being that I have a financial agreement or have been promised incentives from the subject, which is totally not the case. I am an employer of a company, and have volunteered to help writing the article for an executive without being promised any financial reward of some kind. What could be done to wipe away this misunderstanding and make it clear for the reviewers when the draft is submitted. ShalhoubM (talk) 22:04, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
:@ShalhoubM Sorry, but there is probably a financial relationship here. Question from Djprogamming (12:20, 13 February 2026)

:Hi Djprogamming, most social media references are unusable. Newspaper references are generally okay but I can't really tell you exactly without showing me the subject and the articles you are referring to. Is this about your userpage...? :::@Djprogamming a single paragraph is not usually enough. The guideline ↗ suggests ''multiple'' reliable sources providing significant coverage to the subject. Question from Platnus4 (08:48, 24 February 2026)
Hi! I added some words in the start of the page Nematomorpha. Could you check if it's like Good or the writing tone doesn't match. Thanks! --Platnus4 (talk) 08:48, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
:Hi Platnus4, welcome to Wikipedia. {{U|Cyclopia}} has reverted the edit ↗. On Wikipedia, claims should be backed up by reliable sources. Typically, we ask that the user adding the sentence to provide a source that supports it. Even if you know the added information is true, we still ask for a source so that our users could verify it. In this case, Cyclopia is asking that you provide a source to support your claim, if that exists, feel free to reference the source and add the sentence back in! Question
Hello. According to this log ID ↗ you created Draft:Stephan Nance ↗ about a year ago, which was then deleted. If you remember what sources you used, could you please tell me what they are? This is for Wikipedia:Source assessment/Stephan Nance ↗. Thanks! --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester ↗) 07:28, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hi @Not-cheesewhisk3rs, I love how when I noticed this message I was coincidentally listening to their music for the first time in quite a while :) This was a year ago, so I would recommend requesting a WP:REFUND ↗ as I don't remember much. I remember concluding that they're not likely to be notable or be too close to be really safe.
:I didn't realize Wikipedia:Source assessment ↗ was a page (I've been kind of in active in the last few years).
:I've been quite busy but would love to help if there's anything else I could do. '''<span style="color:#1d556d">Just</span>''''''<span style="color:#000000">i</span>''' ↗'''<span style="color:#6d351d">yaya</span>''' 12:54, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
::Help would definitely be appreciated! :) Generally, the draft ↗ is quite good apart from the glaring issue tagged immediately visible: some of the sources are probably unreliable. The source assessment table is to coordinate and write down the thoughts on sourcing. But here's what I didn't write down in the table:
::#The majority of sources about Nance which go into any detail - if not every single source that has any detail - is paid coverage and/or a blog, both of which are absolutely impossible to use.
::#There are only a few sources which ''may'' be reliable: vortex music mag (meh), register-guard (decent to meh) audubon (good) and american birding association (decent). However I am unsure whether any of these sources aren't paid because of the sheer volume of paid sources. Therefore I'm unsure whether ANY of the sources have the potential of passing the "independent" and "reliable" criterias of WP:GNG ↗.
::#I was going to ask some people about this issue and try to form some consensus on the reliability of the nicher sources first. For example, Illustrate Magazine (currently in the draft) may be an immediate no and have to be removed. Other editors' input would be helpful for this. I was going to contact WP:RSN ↗ and maybe some others.
::#''As a final resort only'' I'm considering emailing Nance to ask which sources (pasting the entire list at the SA table) are paid.
::If you have any opinions on this do let me know. --not-cheesewhisk3rs ≽^•⩊•^≼ ∫ (pester ↗) 19:49, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Got it, @Not-cheesewhisk3rs I have found Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources ↗ as sometimes useful in album / musicians. I would also possible look into the Wikiproject album talk page as well. Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}},
thumb|400px|New Page Review queue November 2025 - May 2026 ↗
'''Backlog update'''
At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.
After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.
'''2024 and 2025 NPP Awards'''
74px|left ↗{{no ping|JTtheOG}} was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.
{{no ping|Hey man im josh}} and {{no ping|MPGuy2824}} won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.
Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.
{{no ping|BoyTheKingCanDance}}, {{no ping|Rosiestep}}, {{no ping|SunDawn}}, and {{no ping|Vanderwaalforces}} were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame ↗ for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.
'''January–February backlog drive'''
The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to {{no ping|JTtheOG}}, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.
'''May backlog drive'''
An article-only backlog drive is currently underway. We are hoping to make a big dent in the backlog. You can read more about it or join at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026 ↗.
'''PageTriage'''
An attempt was made to get the New Pages Feed ↗ to sort by date marked as reviewed instead of date created. However we had to revert it due to bugs. We may try again in the future. You can subscribe to the Phabricator ticket ↗ if you're interested in following along.

Question from CivicObserverNL (23:20, 30 May 2026)
Hello , can you help me to make our sit-in protest article in the Wikipedia? --CivicObserverNL (talk) 23:20, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hi @CivicObserverNL, welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia has a rule where shared accounts are not allowed. Therefore, usernames implying shared use, such as one referring to an organization of a position, are also not allowed. I think your username might be prohibited under this rule and I've left you a message with more information on your talk page which contains information regarding this. You may also have to declare your conflict of interest, especially if you are being paid or editing is part of your job (as per our terms of use).
:Regarding your question, Wikipedia has notability guidelines ↗ that all articles should satisfy. A subject should generally have received multiple pieces of in-depth coverage from independent, secondary sources. Your draft mentions being included in news coverage, linking those sources instead of a generic link to the newspaper home page would be beneficial. I'll be happy to take another look at it or answer any questions, happy editing! ::Hello Justiyaya,
::Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to review the draft.
::I am editing as an individual volunteer and not on behalf of any organization. I understand the concerns regarding usernames and conflict of interest, and I will review the relevant policies.
::I also appreciate your comments regarding sourcing. I am currently working on improving the draft by adding direct links and citations to independent media coverage, including reports from Dutch and international news outlets that have covered the protest.
::Thank you again for your guidance and assistance.
::Best regards,

:::Hi @CivicObserverNL, got it. I thought your username was the same as a website but it could be a coincidence. I've put an AFC template on it. Question from Australian art history (04:30, 6 July 2026)
Hi, I’m editing the entry on the Australian artist Sydney Long. I’ve gone back to the authoritative sources on him, and added references.
The problem I’m facing is that the person who wrote the original entry chose mediocre examples of his work – perhaps because at that time he was still in copyright. I’d like to add some better examples, all from public collections. --Australian art history (talk) 04:30, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hi @Australian art history, that's an excellent idea! I do agree that the gallery at the end of the article is a bit inadequate. We get our images from Wikimedia Commons, our sister project dedicated to hosting copyleft or public domain works. There's a couple of his other works located in :Commons:Category:Sydney Long ↗ and the subcategories within. If you don't see what you want there, you could upload your own (copyleft / public domain) images at Commons:Special:UploadWizard ↗. Thanks for your contributions here! I'll take a quick look at the article as well and see if I could improve it a bit. Welcome to Wikipedia and I hope you enjoy editing! :::Thanks, I’ve finished editing now – I did get somewhat absorbed in it. I’ll try those pages for images. The complication with Long is that until I found his widow’s death certificate his cousins were claiming copyright (and people were charging for it!). He died in 1955 so is out of copyright now, and his widow died intestate Australian art history (talk) 06:00, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
::::Hi @Australian art history, I like your writing and your improvements to the page! A few things of note are that we usually try to cite references by using ref tags. Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/1 ↗ is a great guide to this if you wish to continue contributing (we'd love to have you!). We try to provide a secondary source as a reference to most statements in that fashion, like "Long painted what he called “an amalgamated painting”, Flamingoes ↗, with the dark tones favoured by the Art Society" should probably have a reference at the end. It's the boring work and not at all as glamorous as writing prose, but quite needed so our readers know where to go looking further. We also try not to Wikilink to other sites, but there is a distinct lack of images in the article, which you have noted :) This could certainly be improved! If you want me to handle it send me a note and I'll figure it out for you! It's a bit complicated for beginners. Thanks again for your contributions! :::::Thanks. Please, I’d love you to handle the images until I can get used to the system! The important ones are the paintings I’ve linked to in the main text (plus some of his etchings).

::::::@Australian art history I'll deal with it sometime this week! Remember to add references when you do so!
