Updating announced, cancellation and changed of fighter bouts

Hi KyleYerrick, good day. I have noticed you have been updating some new announced bouts on the event page and I thank you for your contribution especially in MMA project in Wikipedia. Just a note here, when a new bout is announced (confirmed only and not in work, planned, verbally agreed, targeted) or bout cancellation or fighter replacement, then we update in at least 4 articles in EN Wikipedia - the event page, List of UFC current fighters page, the two involved fighters' pages. You already know how to update in the event page and List of UFC fighters page and as for the fighters pages we would always keep it simple as per the WikiProject guidelines - see here for examples here - Murphy ↗ and Tate ↗ for I have updated the info there. Pls let me know if you have any question regarding updating MMA related pages and any other editing/vandalism/creating new pages for I am here to help. Thank again for your contribution. Stay safe and best.<b style="font-family:Georgia;font-size:105%;color:#FF8000"> Cassiopeia</b> <span style="border-radius:8em;padding:2px 5px;background:#0151D2;font-size:75%"><span style="color:#FFF">'''talk'''</span></span> 23:18, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

:Cassiopeia Thank you for the preparations. I will do my best in regards to the other pages. I do have 2 questions at the moment. First, I probably know the answer but anyways, can a cited reference be a Twitter Post? i.e. Marcel Dorff, Ariel Helwani. Or would I have to wait for an official article? Second, more importantly, on the Rankings page, if a fighter is removed due to injury, should that fighter's part in the next fight section be completely blank as it has been, or should there be a cite referring to the injury up until the event has passed? To let someone know why the opponent was removed from the bar. i.e. Evloev 270 ↗

:: Hi KyeYerrick, first of all you need to ping me/or any editor when you write to them in all talk pages except their talk page. See my "mma pages" message on your talk page under "other info" for instructions. Twitter or any other social media are considered not reliable sources. When you see an info on Twitter, to to their web site, you will see the articles and you can use the web site as the source. Fight info is actually not part of the Ranking page as the contain in the ranking page should be all about the ranking and nothing to do with the previous and up coming fight. I added the sources because all info added/changes should be verified as verification is the most important policy in Wikipedia. In the List of current UFC fighter page, we do update the info if a fighter is removed for whatever reason, bout cancel, replacement and etc. You can follow the same if you want. Let me know if anything else I can help.<b style="font-family:Georgia;font-size:105%;color:#FF8000"> Cassiopeia</b> <span style="border-radius:8em;padding:2px 5px;background:#0151D2;font-size:75%"><span style="color:#FFF">'''talk'''</span></span> 03:58, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

::: Hi KyeYerrick, Good day. Saw you updating a few bouts in several articles and thank you for providign edit summary so the other editors would know the edit nature/reason. However, instead putting "columbia card" pls state the fighters name - example "Calvin Kattar vs. Giga Chikadze" so we know which fighters and bout you are updating and we (1) can check if other associated pages also updated (2) dont need to change all the reused ref when the bout/fighter is cancelled/replaced/withdrew and updating the fight result since it is a lot easier to find who is fighting who. Since I am here so I would let you know when a bout is cancelled or a fighter withdrew from the bout or a replacement is found, a title bout or headliner bout - we need to input the "background" info on the event page. You can see how it is written on the past events articles for examples. Note, there is a editor will always, change all the text as his liking no matter how well you write the background section, pls dont get frustrated and just let it be for your own "happiness on editing mma pages" because at times he might say something a little to harsh especially with the new editors.

::: Secondly, always use the "UFC Fight Night XXX" or "UFC on ESPN XX" when updating as there always have a chance the headliner is changed due to withraw from a fighter due to injury/covid protocol/etc. For such if you put the actual event name then it will link to nowhere when new article name is updated, but "UFC Fight Night XXX" or "UFC on ESPN XX" will always redirect to the latest event name. Note: on the fighter fight table we do use the actual event name/event articles name after the event has finished (we dont record future bout but will add the info in "hidden text" (done by a regular, long term mma editor every week).

::: The key is to know the normal on editing mma pages, know the Wikipedia guidelines and observe the regular, long term editors edits on mma pages which you can find it on the articles' history log pages. Once again, thank you for your contribution and welcome to mma project in Wikipedia. Stay safe and best.<b style="font-family:Georgia;font-size:105%;color:#FF8000"> Cassiopeia</b> <span style="border-radius:8em;padding:2px 5px;background:#0151D2;font-size:75%"><span style="color:#FFF">'''talk'''</span></span> 21:30, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

MMA related articles

Hi KyleBYerrick, Greetings. Since you have edited a number of pages of MMA related articles in Wikipedia, pls see the below info so you may understand how things work here.

# Pls visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts ↗ and read through the MMA Wikipedia guidelines.
# When a bout is announced which stating "finalizing, in work, rumors, verbally agreed,  in the press, this means the bout is not official yet. Wait until it official before place it under the "Announced bouts" section of the event page.
# When a bout is announced in the press, editors put the match up in the  "Announced bouts" section (inline citation is needed)
# When UFC.com / its local web site (pls check the reference beneath the fight card table in the Wikipedia page), the editors would remove the bout in the "Announced bouts" and place it in the "fight card" section.
# When a fighter pulls from a fight (due to injury/or by UFC/ visa issues and etc), we placed the info in the "Background section" (inline citation needed) and remove the injured fighter name and put "TBD".
# When a injured fighter has been replaced, editor put the info in the background section (with inline citation). If the new match up has not been shown in the UFC.com fight card, then we will removed the match up from the fight card and place it back to "Announced section". If the match up already shown in the UFC.com then jut put the replacement fighter in the fight card section.
# When the event named has been announced (such as UFC Fight Night: dos Santos vs. Tuivasa ↗) then we place the info in the background section (with inline citation). If UFC.com has shown the event names (Fight Night events or UFC on ESPN) such as UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Medeiros ↗ or UFC on ESPN: Reyes vs. Weidman ↗, then editor would move the article and article talk page name accordingly and not before, except the flagship event such as UFC 187 ↗, UFC 242 ↗ and etc.
# No colour box in the fighter's page infobox at event fight card page. No title eliminator in the fight card or body text in fighter page or event page. No (c) - champion on the event fight card unless the fighter is the current champion of the weight division.
#"method" in the fight table is as per Sherdog.com as per WP:MMA ↗ guideline and please do not interpret the method yourself even if the method is incorrect as Wikipedia is all about WP:verification ↗ and not the true ↗.
#Info box as per Sherdog. No other nick names or else we would have many nicknames pop up every time there is a internet meme.
#Reach as per UFC.com as Sherdog dont have the info. Pls provide inline citation.
#Stand - need to provide inline citation. IF you can find source to support it, leave it blank
#Style - "The style parameter should only be used in MMA fighters that have participated professionally or in international competitions in other combat sports (i.e. boxing or kickboxing) and who are notable in said sports and deserve an article for their merits in these other sports (i.e. Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Alistair Overeem). It is suggested to MMA editors that they actively remove the style parameter in infoboxes of MMA fighters that do not meet these criteria." Leave style for modern mma fighter as they have to train several combat disciplines.
#No Flag icon on info box or fight table.
# Info could be obtain from Sherdog on Info box - need to support by sources such as teachers, belts, notable relatives, university, occupation outside fighting career and etc.

Other info below, if you have already known then disregarded them

# Pls read referencing ↗ to understand about referencing and how to provide inline citation.
#Leave a brief edit summary ↗ before saving you edit, so other editors know the nature of your edit for Wikipedia is the collaboration work from many editors.
#To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with <code><nowiki>{{Ping|</nowiki>Cassiopeia<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>. Please remember to sign your posts ↗ on talk pages ↗ by typing four tildes (<code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code>).

UFC Rankings templates

Hey {{ping|KyleBYerrick}} Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts ↗. <P>I have two thinks to ask from you:
# Please, when updating a template such as Template:UFC Women's pound-for-pound Rankings ↗ as you did HERE ↗, remove the template from the Raquel Pennington ↗ article and add it to Lauren Murphy ↗'s.
# When updating a template such as Template:UFC Middleweight Rankings ↗, as you've done HERE ↗, note that the sources contain an archived version relevant to the time of the previous update. Please, when updating something with an archived source (which is almost always recommended for sources), updated the archived link as well. A new archived link could be easily created at https://web.archive.org/save ↗.
Thank you. CLalgo (talk) 07:54, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello. I have noticed that you {{usertalk other|often ↗|often}} edit without using an edit summary ↗. Please do your best to '''always fill in the summary field'''. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences ↗. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, :Battle: Los Angeles ↗, but you didn't provide a reliable source ↗. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation ↗ and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners ↗. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-unsourced1 --> DonIago (talk) 13:58, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Transaction page

Hey @KyleBYerrick, I really don't mean to discourage your participation, I really do appreciate your help! But just a heads up, we use neutral references for trades, unless absolutely necessary, just to avoid any bias or one-sided fixation from one of the teams involved. If the NHL doesn't release their own neutral primary source, usually Sportsnet, TSN, or any other major outlet should have a neutral secondary source. –uncleben85 (<span style="color: green">talk</span>) 19:23, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi KyleBYerrick! I noticed that you recently made an edit&#32;at :Marisha Ray ↗ and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit ↗" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typo ↗s or reverting obvious vandalism ↗. Any edit that changes the <em>meaning</em> of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-minor --> Sariel Xilo (talk) 04:52, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

IIHF juniors

thanks for your updates yesterday. Some of the names I am taking an educated guess at what is the common usage from european databases, so if did something different than you I am just trying to be consistent, I am not certain what is 'correct'. If you think someone should be listed differently just say so, not a big deal.18abruce (talk) 16:46, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
:You are doing great work on these pages, thank you. I recommend leaving everything blank in the score and period lines so that you can add details as you go and it stays hidden. I would also recommend leaving scorers until a period finishes so there is less chance of it changing after you edit. If anyone gives you grief about it, the essay (or policy) they are citing does say that hidden edits in the background that are helpful are fine. Or just do the gamebox in your sandbox and paste it over later.18abruce (talk) 21:58, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Re: 2026 Memorial Cup

Absolutely no qualms if you wish to revert back to the previous format; I had previously seen the transclusion format used between the Swedish Hockey League ↗ and the 2025–26 SHL season ↗ (although that was for the teams section), and thought I'd be bold ↗ and see how it would look with multiple sections and pages – hence the 2026 Memorial Cup ↗ was the perfect candidate for this. The bolding issue was user error though; forgot to add the bold syntax! Rectified now. With thanks, <span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="color:black;background:#EFB237">Craig</span><span style="color:#344F52;background:#79DCD3">(talk)</span></span> 19:15, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

Potential addition to The Black List (survey) — peer-reviewed academic source available

Hi KyleBYerrick,
I've noticed you maintain the Black List (survey) article.
I wanted to flag a documented episode in the Black List's history that isn't currently covered in the article: the brief 2017 partnership between The Black List and ScriptBook (an AI script analysis & box office predictions company), which lasted approximately 24 hours before being removed due to community backlash.

COI disclosure first: I'm the founder of ScriptBook, so I'm not editing the article myself, I'm flagging this to you in case the source material is worth incorporating. The source is strong: a peer-reviewed 2024 article in Media Industries (University of Michigan) by Anthony Twarog — "Negotiated Pipelines to Screenwriting Work on The Black List" (DOI: 10.3998/mij.3297). It dedicates a full section to the ScriptBook partnership with direct quotes from Brian Koppelman and Craig Mazin, plus interview material with Franklin Leonard. Suggested text for your consideration (please feel free to rewrite, shorten, or use any portion):
2017 The Blacklist powered by ScriptBook partnership
On April 18, 2017, The Black List launched a partnership with the Belgian artificial intelligence company ScriptBook, offering algorithmic screenplay analysis & box office predictions to platform users for $100 per script. The service evaluated screenplays across categories including character likeability, target audience demographics, and estimated box office performance.
[1] The partnership generated significant criticism on Reddit's r/Screenwriting community, with established screenwriters Brian Koppelman and Craig Mazin among those publicly opposing the service.[1][2] The Black List removed the ScriptBook service the following day, deleted the announcement blog post, and refunded customers who had purchased the analysis.[1] Founder Franklin Leonard later characterized the response as among the most difficult moments in the company's history.
