Hi there. Could you create an userpage? The red link is so, uhm, empty... <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 05:36, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

I have to explain to you: when I was eightteen I realized that "I" does not exist; what 'you' are is emptiness, leegte. This was nice, and very scary: nowhere to hold on to, vacuum: who am I, if I'm not this "I"? This started an intensive search, which continues to today, and brought me to Zen, where I recognized what they were saying: the same 'emptiness'. I later came to realize it's not a mere 'nothingness'; there is always a presence, but ungraspable; and there is an 'energy', a twinkling, an aliveness. Well, this dialogue describes just that; thanks! <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 07:14, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

Reference style
Hi. I noticed you use a lot of 'straight references (<nowiki><ref>James, "This is it"</ref></nowiki>); could you try the sfn-format? It makes it easier to transport sources, and gives less repetition. Regards, <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 07:15, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
:Hi Joshua, I'll look into this. Still learning. All the best, Likes Thai Food (talk) 12:15, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
No-thought
Regarding your edits to Huineng, it's fascinating that this is even possible, given the initial emphasis in the western understanding of Zen on sudden insight. Yet, the 'natural functioning mind' is clearly recognizable in Huineng, Linji, and Bankei; so, thanks again for your edits. <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 03:47, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
:No problemo! Likes Thai Food (talk) 04:06, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
sfn
It's not that difficult, actually.
- You create a source-section:<nowiki>
Sources
{{refbegin}}
{{refend}}</nowiki>
- Sources are formatted to the cite book, cite journal, ect format
- References are given as <nowiki>{{sfn|author|date|p=}}</nowiki>
:Okay, cool. I see you got it started, I'll try to do the rest. Thanks! Likes Thai Food (talk) 19:18, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
::Well done! In notes, sfn doesn't work; there you can use harv, harvnb, or harvtxt, which resectively give (Author 2024, p. 1), Author 24, p. 1, Author (2024, p.1). Either you ''start'' a sentence with harvnb or harvtxt, or you end a sentence with harv. <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 04:18, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
:::Thanks again, @Joshua Jonathan. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Baby steps. Likes Thai Food (talk) 04:39, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Ocean of Inquiry
Michael S. Allen (2022), ''Ocean of Inquiry'', ch.5, p.113-114, treats sudden awakening and the role of meditation from a 19th centurt Advaita Vedanta perspective. Approachable via the Wiki library; interesting read. In summary: those with a steady mind see the true self ('the inner self') at once on hearing the statement "You are Brahman"; those with an unsteady mind have to learn to stabilize the mind by means of meditation, to be able to turn attention inwards, towards the 'inner self'. As Patanjali writes: 'yoga is the calming down of the movements of the mind. Then the purushu ('observing self') shines forward'. Krishnamurti
I've added a quote to the :Krishnamurti ↗-page you may like:
{{blockquote|Rom Landau: How did you come to that state of unity with everything?<br>Krishnamurti: People have asked me about that before, and I always feel that they expect to hear the dramatic account of some sudden miracle through which I suddenly became one with the universe. Of course nothing of the sort happened. My inner awareness was always there; though it took me time to feel it more and more clearly; and equally it took time to find words that would at all describe it.<br>It was not a sudden flash, but a slow yet constant clarification of something that was always there. It did not grow, as people often think. Nothing can grow in us that is of spiritual importance. It has to be there in all its fullness, and then the only thing that happens is that we become more and more aware of it. It is our intellectual reaction and nothing else that needs time to become more articulate, more definite. [Rom Landau, ''God Is My Adventure'']}}

February 2026
25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hi Likes Thai Food! I noticed that you recently made an edit at :Zen ↗ and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit ↗" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typo ↗s or reverting obvious vandalism ↗. Any edit that changes the <em>meaning</em> of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-minor --> Aoidh (talk) 18:28, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
:Greetings Aoidh, thanks for your comment. I substituted "nothing to do" for non-action which is how wushi 無事 is translated in both the Linji and Huangbo quotes. This seems like a minor edit to me, as doing nothing and non-acting are synonyms. All the best, Likes Thai Food (talk) 18:39, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

::And Mark Dyczkowski, ''The Stanzas on Vibration'', p.207 ↗:
::{{talkquote|to attend to the indeterminate cognition (samvedana), which both reveals and is the source of determinate perceptions, and so decreases the latter in order to increase the former. This method, Ksemaraja says, is the best because it is the most natural, internal and direct. It does not require the practice of breath control or the recitation of Mantra, but forms a part of the blissful, direct means (sukhopaya) related to Kaula practice. Basically, it involves absorption in the reflective awareness of the subject by the gradual intensification of the means of knowledge (pramana) through attention to the relationship between subject and object. It requires, in other words, awareness of cognition as the connecting link between them, in the unity of a direct concept-free awareness.}} <span style="font-family:Forte;color:black">Joshua Jonathan</span> - <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;color:black">Let's talk!</span> 07:35, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
