Disambiguation link notification for September 4

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Canada Songs ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bass ↗. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:53, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Melodic death metal

Carcass are sourced as pioneers of melodic death metal by multiple major publications. Early swedish death metal bands like Entombed and Dismember were not explicitly melodic death metal and drew more of their influence from hardcore punk ↗. CatTits10 (talk) 00:04, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
:Uhh... what. Where did this conversation about Entombed and Dismember come from? Those bands have nothing to do with melodeath, those are early swedeath bands. In Flames and At the Gates were releasing melodic death metal music YEARS before Carcass were playing the style...

:Oh I'm so scared. Go ahead and try. 💀 I'm sure they'll take your complaints very seriously from the genre warring IP editor who has been blocked before for it

Explain, please

Please explain ↗ your edits in an edit summary. Drmies (talk) 15:17, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

The IP editor added "hardcore punk" unsourced. And then I decided to also remove "extreme metal" because it's an umbrella term and doesn't do much to explain the type of music, metalcore is a hybridization of hardcore and extreme metal anyway as it says on the article for metalcore itself so I didn't think it was necessary. My apologies for any confusions. Lil Sad Lil Happy (talk)

Heads up regarding non-diffusing subcategories

Regarding your edit to Sprung ↗ - Category:Nintendo DS-only games is a non-diffusing subcategory of Category:Nintendo DS games, meaning having both categories is apt and not redundant. Waxworker (talk) 18:01, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

Edits on Sematary

Just wanted to bring this to your talk page to avoid any further edit warring over at Sematary ↗. There have been a couple of issues in contention that we've gone back-and-forth about a bit, the main one being whether to include the bit about his music being inspired by witch house and black metal. As far as sources go for that claim:

You've also continously added "blackened trap" as a genre without any sourcing, and a search for the phrase "blackened trap" with "Sematary" only yields this Latvian website ↗ which is pretty obviously using the Wikipedia page as its own source ({{tquote|from "horrorcore" and "drill" to "blackened trap" (this was in the early years of his career)}})". You removed the entirety of the guest appearances section from his discography on the basis that it was unnecessary, but most if not all featured discographies feature a similar section (see: Angel Haze discography#Guest appearances ↗, Dido discography#Guest appearances ↗, Lil Debbie discography#Guest appearances ↗, etc.) and it's pretty standard among all discographies on WP.

I am willing to discuss this further here, but will probably be adding/removing the information that I mentioned above in the next day or so unless we come to a different consensus. <span style="font-family:'Constantia'; color:black;">'''''ben'''''</span><span style="font-family:'Helvetica'; color:red;">'''ǝʇᴉɯ'''</span> 09:44, 9 August 2025 (UTC)

:I am not trying to edit war, what the sources say is fine. I didnt personally add "blackened trap" as a genre but I kept it on the article when others removed it because I just assumed they were genre warring <span style="font-family:Garamond;"><span style="color:#FF6EC7;">Lil Happy Lil Sad</span></span> :): 11:29, 9 August 2025 (UTC)

Progressive alien deathcore

There are three sources in that article. You need to start a deletion discussion if you don't want to include it. Lofi Gurl (talk) 23:51, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
:So I just went ahead and added "progressive alien deathcore" as a genre at Rings of Saturn ↗. I brought two sources. Yeah it's ridiculous, but I'm just summarizing what the sources say. Lofi Gurl (talk) 23:59, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
::{{ping|Lofi Gurl}} Well in that case i'll start a deletion discussion. The thing that really takes me aback is how couple years there appears to be a new thing someone makes up just to get their blog or article clicks, personally I think it's much more suited to just a sentence on the deathcore article saying something like "Metal Hammer and Alternative Press have called Rings of Saturn 'progressive alien deathcore'." or what ever instead of going this far about it, a mention such as that somewhere in the page's body of text is probably appropriate... but to me, making an entire page, listing it as an official subgenre and treating it like it's something anything other than something your friends at a lunch table just made up is taking it too far. Hopefully you see where im going with this, I've just been trying to keep the deathcore article as streamlined as possible, so for that case I've removed it from the info box. <span style="font-family:Garamond;"><span style="color:#FF6EC7;">Lil Happy Lil Sad</span></span> :): 05:09, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
:::It's not just "something your friends at a lunch table just made up," it's backed up by three sources. I did not know this term existed until I found the articles. There are three sources, this merits inclusion. Lofi Gurl (talk) 07:13, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Hi-C

Explain the Hi-C stuff. Does it not make more sense for it to be their place of origin? I'm not going to move it again because it should be in my opinion opened to a discussion which is what I will open after your reply Aradicus77 (talk) 14:19, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

:Hi-C (rapper) ↗ is also the original page so I have no clue why you are changing that to say 1973, that is unnecessary. Aradicus77 (talk) 14:20, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

::{{ping|Aradicus77}} It's because thats plainly not how disambiguation works. It does not matter what is "the original". What came first is completely redundant. George H.W. Bush ↗ came before George W. Bush ↗, but George H.W.'s article is not simply titled "George Bush" for this reason. Also furthermore dabs are not accounted for the place of origin they are accounted for the year of birth when there are 2 people with the same name with the same career that they are known for. Look at Jonathan Rodríguez (footballer, born 1990) ↗ and Jonathan Rodríguez (footballer, born 1993) ↗, despite the fact that these 2 football players are from 2 different countries they are still dabbed separately based on their birth year '''not where they are from'''. You may also notice, one doesn't automatically get the dab that simply says "footballer" just because one of these article was made first. That's how it's done here <span style="font-family:Garamond;"><span style="color:#FF6EC7;">Lil Happy Lil Sad</span></span> :): 14:25, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:CUNTlive2009.jpeg

32px|left ↗
Thanks for uploading ''':File:CUNTlive2009.jpeg ↗'''. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use ↗. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion ↗. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have ''no free equivalent''; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

# Go to the file description page ↗ and add the text {{Tlx|Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|&lt;your reason>}} '''below''' the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <code>&lt;your reason></code> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
# On the file's talk page ↗, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license ↗, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions|target=Lil_Sad_Lil_Happy&namespace=6}} this link]</span>. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:di-replaceable non-free use-notice --> <span style="color: #EE1C25; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';">thejiujiangdragon</span> 🔥🐉 ↗ 23:31, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Gorenoise

The sources specifically say that gorenoise is noisecore as well as goregrind, and it specifies 1) "rock-based sounds" because goregrind and noisecore are rock subgenres, and 2) harsh noise because harsh noise is specific genre of noise music (which itself is just one kind of noise in music ↗). If you have other wording, you can add that, but don't alter the substance of statements that have citations specifically for those particular statements. That would be original research ↗ on your part rather than summaries of what those sources say.-- --3family6 (Talk to me&#124;See what I have done ↗) 00:28, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
