Disambiguation link notification for July 15

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Magisterial Reformation ↗, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Calvin ↗ and Luther ↗. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:03, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Referencing

Hi LoveAcross. I see that you've been doing a lot of referencing for articles in the past few days and I greatly appreciate it as someone involved in WikiProject Unreferenced articles ↗. My concern is that a) some of your references are inappropriate because they are not independent or reliable ↗ - this is a big issue for topics related to the Catholic Church because ideally the references would not come from the Church itself as that is not really "independent" - and b) that you are adding bare urls rather than using a citation template such as Cite book ↗, Cite web ↗, Cite news ↗, etc. It is really important to format the references properly, to include the dates that articles or books were published, and the dates that they were referenced by you (or other editors) for transparency to the readers, and so that we are not including outdated or obsolete references. You can add these very easily using the visual editor, which is what I use, or the source editor but it takes a little bit more work. Please be sure to use these going forward as it takes time for other editors to correct these when you do not.

Additionally, as a comment based on the Manual of Style ↗, the standard order of an article is for the references section to come before the external links, rather than the other way around. So it would be something like 'see also, notes, references, external links'.

There's a lot to do and learn and we are very excited to have you here as an editor. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. Best, Kazamzam (talk) 18:21, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

:Hello Kazamzam, thank you for all of this. I am looking at the cite web and cite news. I have found that when I try to use them, I often get a message in red telling me that I'm making errors. The straight-forward refs seem a lot cleaner for now, and I am trying to add as many details as I can in case the links disappear later. I will keep on at the cite web. Thanks also for the Style note; I will move the external links sections down. LoveAcross (talk) 17:37, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
:
:Not to pile-on, but edits like this ↗ are not good. That edit includes invisible no-break-space characters which are rejected ↗ by Module:Citation/CS1 ↗ (the engine behind {{tlx|cite web}} and other cs1|2 templates). Please don't write templates with no-break-space characters. The 'Show preview' button is your friend; please use it and make sure that references that you add are free of errors {{em|before}} you click the 'Publish changes' button.
