January 2022 in reptile paleontology

Structure of "(year) in reptile paleontology"

Hello Macrochelys! After thinking about the structure of the "(year) in reptile paleontology" pages I started wondering if a slight rearrangement might be appropriate. As you are the main contributor to these pages (your work is much appreciated!) I thought it fitting to ask your thoughts before taking any immediate action. I would personally suggest splitting lepidosauromorphs and archosauromorphs out of "Other reptiles" into their own broader categories, containing squamates and archosauriforms, respectively. It seems strange to me that rhynchocephalians, tanysaurs, etc. are grouped with stem reptiles rather than their closer relatives. I understand the phylogenetic position of some clades ichthyosaurs, sauropterygians, turtles, etc.) is disputed or controversial so maintaining them as separate sections (or within "Other reptiles") would still be ideal. Copying licensed material requires attribution

Hi. I see in a recent addition to :2026 in paleontology ↗ you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution template for this particular instance.
