Disambiguation link notification for August 18

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Trichophorum cespitosum subsp. germanicum ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Palla ↗. Such links are usually incorrect ↗, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. <small>(Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.)</small>

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 19:53, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi Maidenhair, thanks for your corrections on the Old Danube page, just want to point out that 1 km2 = 1,000,000 m2 (1000m x 1000m), so 61,000m2 = 0.061km2 EulersNumberIsGreat (talk) 00:00, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

Malus florentina

Hi Maidenhair, I just wanted to thank you for your editing work on the article about ''Malus florentina''. I still mainly use visual editing on Wikipedia and really appreciate your editing work. Just one question: is it generally advised to assign names to sources, or what was your reason for doing so? AndersenAnders (talk) 20:11, 13 November 2025 (UTC)

:@I appreciate the compliment. I think you are possibly referring to "repeated citations" with meaningful names; e.g. <code><nowiki><ref name=MeaningfulName/></nowiki></code>. The reason I am not sure is that I did not use a repeated citation in the latest edit. I started using meaningful names because it was easier to remember when I needed to reuse a reference for say <code><nowiki><ref name=POWO/></nowiki></code>, and I thought others would prefer this. I was suprised to find editors using meaningless numbers, e.g. <code><nowiki><ref name=":0"/></nowiki></code>, and it was some time before I became aware that this was a feature of the visual editor.
:If you want a more reliable recommendation for meaningful names then
:*WP:REPEATCITE ↗{{blockquote|text=To help with page maintenance, it is recommended that the text of the <code>name</code> have a connection to the inline citation or footnote, for example "author year page": {{tag|ref|params=name="<var>Smith 2005 p94</var>"|content=text of the citation}}.}}
:*WP:REFNAME ↗{{blockquote|text=Names should have semantic value, so that they can be more easily distinguished from each other by human editors who are looking at the wikitext. This means that ref names like <code>"Nguyen 2010"</code> are preferred to names like <code>":31337"</code>.}}
:Maidenhair (talk) 22:44, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
::Thank you! Yes, I was referring to repeated citations. AndersenAnders (talk) 17:11, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
