Image copyright problem with Image:Honecker.jpg

Thanks for uploading :Image:Honecker.jpg ↗. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag ↗, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions ↗. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 14:55, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Almasy06.jpg}

Thank you for uploading ''':Image:Almasy06.jpg ↗'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content ↗. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation ↗ linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
:* That there is a non-free use rationale ↗ on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
:* That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag ↗; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Proposed deletion of Mysterious deaths of GEC-Marconi scientists ↗

left|48px| ↗
A proposed deletion ↗ template has been added to the article Mysterious deaths of GEC-Marconi scientists ↗, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion ↗, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not ↗" and Wikipedia's deletion policy ↗). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the <code>{{tl|dated prod}}</code> notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page ↗.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process ↗, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria ↗ or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion ↗, where it may be deleted if consensus ↗ to delete is reached.<!-- Template:PRODWarning --> Vassyana (talk) 05:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference ↗. Please see here ↗ for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page ↗ and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up ↗ at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup ↗, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Police raid protest april 20 06.jpg

Hi Max rspct, I just have a question about the file :File:Police raid protest april 20 06.jpg ↗ you uploaded. There is no description on its page, the source link doesn't work, and it looks like it's a screenshot from a TV show or video. That all looks pretty suspect, especially since it is an exceptional shot, the source is a website, and it was uploaded with a PD-self license. But luckily you're a frequent and current contributor, so I can ask you about it! If you have any details about when you filmed this, where it was, what was happening, etc. it would be great if you could add that to the image page. Thanks! - Gump Stump (talk) 16:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
:Hi again Max rspct. Could you answer the question above if you can? If you can't, I'll list the file for deletion in the next week or so. Thanks! - Gump Stump (talk) 03:25, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Thälmann Island

For that island being hoax, there are a lot of sources, referring to it, which can be found at the German Wikipedia entry: Thälmann Insel ↗. That Thälmann Island was part of GDR is indeed doubtful, but the greatest sources against this are the governments of Germany and Cuba, which can't be seen as neutral in this concern. Toscho (talk) 09:22, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
:Isn't it partizan saying that? they are the only two govenments that are concerned with the issue and who could comment authoritively on it. Perhaps there's a maritime mapping agency or a subsection of the UN that could resolve the issue. Until then i wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Having said that I would prefer the issue to be placed in an 'in popular culture' section though rather than in main body of text as it is detracts from the article and perhaps undermines the historical sovereignty of the GDR. ;) --<b><span style="color:#A0522D; font-family:'Calibri';">maxrspct</span></b><font size="1"> <span style="color:blue;">ping me</span> ↗ </font> 14:34, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

::I don't believe the file should be deleted simply based on suspicion. There should be an actual claim made by a supposed copyright holder. The image looks like it is from a cell phone and not a professional video, so there is every reason to believe the owner of the image uploaded it, unless another source or claim can be found. --Radical Mallard June 23, 2009, 5:55 PM EST

Please stop re-inserting your comments into an AfD that was closed nearly a year ago, as you have at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brainiak Records ↗. When a discussion is closed, comments are not to be added: if you believe the deletion was in error, you need to open a case at deletion review ↗. Continually re-inserting comments into a closed discussion can be considered disruptive ↗ and edit-warring ↗. - The Bushranger <span style="color:maroon;">One ping only</span> 17:26, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
:Where is the rule on no more comments? Why can't you think up your own signature instead of lifting mine? I feel like putting in a complaint about your behaviour as an admin. -<b><span style="color:#A0522D; font-family:'Calibri';">maxrspct</span></b><font size="1"> <span style="color:blue;">ping me</span> ↗ </font> 19:14, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
::No signature was "lifted". The closed AfD says, in bold red text, "please do not modify". If you wish to complain that is your right however I'd suggest you read WP:BOOMERANG ↗ first. - The Bushranger <span style="color:maroon;">One ping only</span> 18:22, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring ↗ regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring ↗. <!--Template:An3-notice--> Thank you. —The Bushranger <span style="color:maroon;">One ping only</span> 18:31, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

<div class="user-block"> 40px|left|alt=|link= ↗ You have been '''blocked ↗''' from editing for a period of '''24 hours''' for your disruption ↗ caused by edit warring ↗. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes ↗ and seek consensus ↗. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution ↗, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection ↗. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block ↗ by adding the text <!-- Copy the text as it appears on your page, not as it appears in this edit area. Do not include the "tlx" argument. -->{{tlx|unblock|2=reason=''Your reason here &#126;&#126;&#126;&#126;''}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks ↗ first. A file that you uploaded or altered, :File:Chevaline2.jpg ↗, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files ↗ because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. Changed infobox at Commonwealth of England ↗

I've entirely changed the infobox at Commonwealth of England ↗, as I don't think the previous one, designed for former countries, is appropriate. I'm just notifying you here, as I am technically edit warring, and have surpassed the 3 revert rule. If you would like to discuss the change, I will happily self-revert, and we can discuss at the article's talk page. Regards, '''Rob''' (talk | contribs ↗) 21:49, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mimizan ↗, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Gascogne ↗ and Henri II ↗ (check to confirm ↗&nbsp;|&nbsp;fix with Dab solver ↗). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. <small>Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject ↗.</small>

Global account

Hi Max rspct! As a Steward ↗ I'm involved in the upcoming unification ↗ of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see :m:Single User Login finalisation announcement ↗). By looking at your account ↗, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount ↗ and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer&nbsp;<small>(Talk)</small> 16:59, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

User Box WP Japan

Hi. I have a discussion up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan#Membership Roll? ↗ which concerns users who display <code><nowiki>{{User WikiProject Japan}}</nowiki></code> on their user page.

If I can get consensus, I would like to list you all under :Category:WikiProject Japan participants ↗. As of now, you will not be listed unless you switch to the other User box <code><nowiki>{{User WP Japan}}</nowiki></code>.

And if you really do not want to get listed, would you still mind switching to the other User box and use the feature that suppresses listing?<br/>
If you don't want to be listed, replace <code><nowiki>{{User WikiProject Japan}}</nowiki></code> with <code><nowiki>{{User WP Japan|nocat=true}}</nowiki></code>, or on your {{tl|Babel}} replacing your <tt>|WikiProject Japan|</tt> with <code><nowiki>|special-boxes={{User WP Japan|nocat=true}}|</nowiki></code><br/> Thanks. --Kiyoweap (talk) 10:04, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge ↗ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge ↗. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) ↗. For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon ↗, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:08, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 20

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Culture ↗, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fourier ↗ ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/The_Culture check to confirm]&nbsp;|&nbsp;[//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/The_Culture?client=notify fix with Dab solver]). Federation graphic

This here edit you made: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Federation&diff=855509934&oldid=854535451 ↗ – misleading how? Just out of interest. Damvile (talk) 03:51, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

:That there graphic doesn't explain why it's coloured differently. It gives the impression that the UK is already out of the EU. If you want to put 'pending' in there on both the graphic and displayed version box then please do and it would be fine. I know it's on the image page descriptor but that is not evident to the reader unless they click through and scroll down. <b><span style="color:#A0522D; font-family:'Calibri';">maxrspct</span></b><font size="1"> <span style="color:blue;">ping me</span> ↗ </font> 03:57, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Marx-citizenship.jpg

64px|left|alt=|link= ↗
Thank you for uploading ''':File:Marx-citizenship.jpg ↗'''. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright ↗ status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page ↗.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion ↗ and ask for a chance to fix the problem.<!-- Template:You can request undeletion -->

Please refer to the '''image use policy ↗''' to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a [{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=upload&user=Max_rspct}} list of your uploads]. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page ↗.
