Linking common instruments

I noticed that when you updated the Allegaeon article ↗, you also linked the instruments. That's not necessary. Nobody is coming to the article to understand what "lead guitar" means. That's essentially what :WP:OVERLINK ↗ states. It's also what the guideline for band articles states. I removed those links. Also, each line is a single studio album, not multiple studio albums. I know that there are many articles where it's plural, but it's not correct. Thanks for your edits. Do you have a source for those changes, or are you going based on what album liner notes state? timelines

It's commonly incorrect, but each line is a single release, not multiple so it should not be "studio albums", "EPs" or "other releases", but rather singular: "studio album", "EP" or "other release". It's standard for charting. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:07, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind. MetalSword (talk) 11:55, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Couple things

First, the WP:EASTEREGG ↗ guideline says don't put a piped link to death growl ↗ behind the word "vocals", because you are hiding the death growl article from the reader, and surprising them when they click on "vocals".

Second, if you can't find WP:Reliable sources ↗ that support the assertion of lead and rhythm guitar roles, then don't add lead or rhythm guitar roles to an article.

Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 00:01, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Okay, I have the reliable sources, should I attach them to the page? Thank you. MetalSword (talk) 00:02, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Bomber

Eddie Clarke did indeed perform backing vocals on multiple tracks from ''Bomber''. I have an old 8-track copy that states it clearly, plus you can detect his voice in the backing vocals on "Poison" and "Sharpshooter", perhaps others as well but those two come immediately to mind. Why do you say he doesn't sing backing vocals on the album? SolarFlash (talk) 00:53, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Because according to Metallum, it said that Lemmy did both lead and backing vocals by himself in the studio. If you're right, I apologize, as I am a big fan of Motörhead. MetalSword (talk) 01:12, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

:Oh OK. Metallum cannot be used as a source because it's all user generated content. Cheers, mate. SolarFlash (talk) 16:49, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Combichrist

Nick Rossi played main drums on the summer tour 2017, which Joe Letz sat out before rejoining Combi for the US tour with Lords of Acid that year. Nick also played main drums, with Will Spod on percussion (second/standing drums) at two or three shows in Summer 2018 - Joe flew back to LA to film a promo video with Emigrate and missed two or three shows. Joe and Elliott both missed a show in Poland (I think Poland) due to their other commitments with Aesthetic Perfection on the same day, and Nick played that show too. 25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm Lil Sad Lil Happy. I noticed that you added or changed in much of Cannibal Corpse's discography pages, but you didn't provide a reliable source ↗. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation ↗ and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners ↗. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page.

You have to provide a source when attributing lead or rhythm guitar roles, in many bands, there actually is not set lead/rhythm positions (many switch off) and in the case of all the albums you edited where you did this I looked into it myself and many (if not all) of the albums where you changed the credits to specify a lead or rhythm role '''do not specificy that the 2 guitarists had a specific lead or rhythm role'''. They only simply say "guitar" for both guitarists. For example here is a scan of the inside of the booklet for ''Eaten Back to Life'' ↗ and here is one for ''The Bleeding'' ↗ <span style="font-family:Garamond;"><span style="color:#FF6EC7;">Lil Happy Lil Sad</span></span> :): 00:53, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

:There are plenty of reliable sources, Google them and see for yourself. MetalSword (talk) 01:30, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

::It's not my responsibility to search for those sources, it is yours to provide them when you add content that emphasizes a distinction <span style="font-family:Garamond;"><span style="color:#FF6EC7;">Lil Happy Lil Sad</span></span> :): 01:45, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Here is one citing Rob Barrett as rhythm guitarist. https://equipboard.com/pros/rob_barrett MetalSword (talk) 01:46, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I see you have continued to add guitar roles to music articles citing your own personal concert experiences. As much as your contributions to Wikipedia are kindly appreciated by me and I'm sure others, I'd recommend you take into consideration that you are not a reliable source ↗. Mewhen123 (talk) 23:50, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

:Yes, but there are also other resources that cite the guitar roles. For instance, I have seen one that has Bjorn Gelotte of In Flames as lead guitar and Jesper Stromblad/Chris Broderick as rhythm guitar. MetalSword (talk) 23:58, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
::I accept that it might be true that Gelotte plays predominantly lead guitar now, it isn't true that Stromblad played only rhythm guitar in earlier lineups. On ''Whoracle ↗'' all three guitarists are credited with lead guitar. And most other albums do not credit guitar roles. Mewhen123 (talk) 00:07, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
:::Stromblad is primarily a rhythm guitarist, not just with In Flames, but with his other bands too. MetalSword (talk) 02:13, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
::::Can you cite this claim Mewhen123 (talk) 17:14, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
:::https://www.last.fm/music/Jesper+Str%C3%B6mblad MetalSword (talk) 19:23, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
::::WP:LASTFM ↗, not a reliable source Mewhen123 (talk) 19:25, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
:::::Then what is a reliable source? And I know for a fact that I've seen Gelotte play the lead solos while Broderick played the rhythm riffs in the two times I've seen In Flames live. And when I saw CyHra, it was Stromblad playing rhythm riffs while Euge Valovirta played the lead solos. MetalSword (talk) 20:17, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
::::::A reliable source is one that isn't on WP:RSPSOURCES ↗, in concert senses that could be a review from a reliable magazine or website. With guitar roles, I find albums credits as the best place for reliable information, and if I can't find a reliable source I don't add the information as it can be counted as misinformation and that's not what an encyclopedia is for Mewhen123 (talk) 20:24, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
:::::::How's this magazine article? This has Gelotte listed as lead guitarist and I know for a fact he plays lead. https://geargods.net/weekly-riff/in-flames-guitarist-bjorn-gelotte-demos-riffs-from-upcoming-album/ MetalSword (talk) 20:33, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
::::::::That doesn't mention Strömblad as a rhythm guitarist Mewhen123 (talk) 20:38, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
