Request for review of Draft:Pietro Deiro Presents the Accordion Orchestra ↗ and the creation of a new article
{{Courtesy ping|NeoGaze}}
Hello NeoGaze: I was happy to learn of your interest in articles about Classical Music ↗ and your interest in the review of new draft pages. Perhaps if you have some extra time you could assist with the review of Draft:Pietro Deiro Presents the Accordion Orchestra ↗? It has been submitted several times and I have recently completed a new update to the submission, but it has not received attention from a reviewer even though most of the objections appear to have been resolved. The article describes and documents noteworthy and historic performances of classical music compositions by one of the very few modern symphonic orchestra ↗s in the USA (during the mid 20th Century) consisting entirely of customized accordions on a major record label. It features orchestral performances by several leading jazz and classical music accordionists of that era including''': Carmen Carrozza ↗, Angelo Di Pippo, Charles Magnante ↗, John Serry ↗ and Joe Biviano (the "father of the accordion symphony movement in the United States") which '''helped to establish the young accordion ↗ as a legitimate orchestral instrument''' in the USA,<ref name="Jacobson">{{Cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=bPhXe_qNy5QC&dq=Accordeon+Orchestra+joe+Biviano&pg=PA78|title=Squeeze This!: A Cultural History of the Accordion in America|first=Marion|last=Jacobson|date=Mar 15, 2012|publisher=University of Illinois Press|accessdate=Jan 21, 2026|via=Google Books}}</ref> and is listed on the Discography of American Historical Recordings ↗ (DAHR) database.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/objects/detail/357199/Coral_CRL7-57323_LP |title=Coral CRL(7)-57323 (12-in. 33-1/3-rpm long-playing)|website=Adp.library.ucsb.edu|access-date=January 20, 2026}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/mastertalent/detail/324141/Jose_Biviano_Accordion_Orchestra|title=Joe Biviano Accordion Orchestra|website=Adp.library.ucsb.edu|access-date=January 20, 2026}}</ref> These performances ere also critically reviewed in ''The Billboard (magazine) ↗'',"<ref name="Billboard">{{Cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=hR8EAAAAMBAJ&dq=Pietro+Deiro+Presents+the+Accordion+Orchestra&pg=PA33|title=Billboard|page=33|date=June 27, 1960|publisher=Nielsen Business Media, Inc.|access-date=January 28, 2025|via=Google Books}}</ref> ''High Fidelity (magazine) ↗''<ref>''High Fidelity'', Roland Gellot Ed. Redirect submission
In the rare event of {{-r|User:Politician Rajneta/sandbox/Amritlal Tiwari ( Politician )}}, a redirect to Draft:Amritlal Tiwari ↗ left behind after a DFY move, where the original draft starter uses the submission wizard on the redirect, revert them and leave them a message telling them to work on the actual draft. Best, Sam Sailor 09:41, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
:Hey there, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean. NeoGaze (talk) 14:19, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
::This ↗ should never have been submitted as a draft, hence this review ↗ should not have taken place. Please {{history|User:Politician Rajneta/sandbox/Amritlal Tiwari ( Politician )|revisit}}, reevaluate the situation, and let me know you understand. Sam Sailor 16:19, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
:::I see the editor kept submitting the redirected sandbox after the content was moved onto a draft. I got it, thanks for notyfing me. NeoGaze (talk) 18:14, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Exactly! Super rare case, but odd things happen. First question to ask would have been: We are in user space; the page title includes a malformed disambiguator (unnecessary spaces, miscapitalised "politician"); the target in draft space, Amritlal Tiwari ↗, is at the base name ↗; so, why is there a {{tls|submit}} on this redirect to a target that is blue-linked? We can logically assume that it's a case of draftification, and looking at the {{history|User:Politician Rajneta/sandbox/Amritlal Tiwari ( Politician )|history}} this assumption is confirmed: after Sam Sailor draftified the user draft using WP:DFY ↗ (highly recommended), {{noping|Politician Rajneta}}, (the page "owner"), has submitted this redirect twice using AfC-submit-wizard ↗. Looking at Politician Rajneta's {{contribs|Politician Rajneta|contribs}} we see that 24 minutes later in this diff ↗ they correctly submitted Draft:Amritlal Tiwari ↗. So, they know their mistake, but as they are new, they don't know that a self-revert on the redirect would have been nice. Only thing to do here as a reviewer, as Bobby Cohn did before you, is to undo Politician Rajneta on the user page redirect. Best, Sam Sailor 06:58, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
::::Followed up in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation/Submission wizard#Submission of redirects ↗, FYI. Best, Sam Sailor 07:54, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
:::::Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it. Is there something I have to do on my end? NeoGaze (talk) 21:47, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
{{od|5}}YW. Not really. Install Draftify ↗ in your common.js since you are active with AFC? Navigation popups ↗ is unbelievably helpful, but requires a mouse. Best, Sam Sailor 06:11, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
:Allright, these seem helpful. Thanks again! NeoGaze (talk) 14:20, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
Copyvio tagging
Hey just completed revdel on a couple of drafts you had tagged. Just a note that you shouldn't tag them as cv-cleaned. That should only be done by the admin that has completed the revdel, otherwise the notice saying that the offending revisions have been deleted shows up before it has actually been done. You should just tag them as cv. Mfield (Oi! ↗) 22:16, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello there, that's weird because I have been following the Copyright cleanup instructions ↗ and it states the following: "(iv) change the decline parameter in your AfC copyvio decline template from cv to cv-cleaned – or remove that decline entirely, since you've just cleaned it, and re-assess the draft on its other merits"
:I have no problem leaving the cv as is, but if what you say its true then the instructions should be admended. NeoGaze (talk) 22:28, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
::Yeah that's weird that it says that in those instructions tbh, as if you do that the AfC template then shows
::"This submission has now been cleaned of the above-noted copyright violation and its history redacted by an administrator to remove the infringement. If re-submitted (and subsequent additions do not reintroduce copyright problems), the content may be assessed on other grounds"
::Which clearly isn't the case until after the revdel has been completed.
::I haven't seen those particular instructions before tbh, and whenever I come to perform a bunch of revdels, they are always just tagged as cv, hence why it stood out to me. Changing the cv to cv-cleaned in the template causes that additional message I quoted to be added like in this revision ↗ from before I performed it.
::Those instructions need a look over I think as it makes no sense to have cv and cv-cleaned otherwise. Mfield (Oi! ↗) 00:05, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
:::I will bring this issue into the AFC Wikiproject talk page later today. NeoGaze (talk) 10:26, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
::::I started a thread ↗ there yesterday. I meant to tag you in but I forgot sorry. Mfield (Oi! ↗) 18:42, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
:::::Thanks, I will keep an eye out. Until a change is made I will still put the cv-cleaned as until now, if you don't mind. NeoGaze (talk) 19:09, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
::::::Yeah absolutely, I don't think it actually makes any real difference one way or the other at the end of the day, but it would be good if the templates and instructions all matched. Mfield (Oi! ↗) 19:19, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

several of the sources you mentioned in your decline I did not look at all. I din't know they existed. Tornado Elliott (ask) 13:08, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
:Really? Well that's strange, I assumed you copypasted text from them. There's a small possibility that those sources actually copied from the draft, but that rarely happens. Request for Second Review of Draft:Ari_Erev
Hello NeoGaze,
Thanks for your feedback.
Following your feedback I checked again very carefully the Wikipedia:Notability (music) ↗ article to find where the draft article does not meet the criteria, After careful inspection of the notability article, and with some small additions to the draft article, I believe that it idoes meet now the criteria.
- Following this inspection, I made some changes to make sure the article does not use any promotional language, does not use any "Words to watch", and I believe it does not use any personal commentary or opinions. and that it summarizes information from public, reliable and independent sources (most of them can be considerable notable, to the best of my judgement).
- I have also added a a coule of references, one of the them is a new reference to a compilation album (released in Japan) that one of pianist Ari Erev tunes is included in. This adds to the notability criteria as published in the "Notability (Music) article.
- In addition - I went over all claims in the article text to make sure that all are backed-up by good references (as well as with the external links). Some of the sources come from sovereign countries (as the Wikipedia:Notability (music) ↗ article, demands).
I can provide a more detailed list of all references, and for each of them, a justification for why I believe they meet the criteria set forth in the Notabiliey (Music) article. However, I thought that this might be less appropriate for this UserTalk article. (However, if you require - I will be happy to repond with this list).
Would you re-review the article now?
To be constructive, if there is anything **specific** that you would be kind to point to that I can further correct or adjust. I would be grateful.
Thanks very much for your review and (hopefully) for your further guidance.

:Hey there, I'm sorry but I don't see a substantial improvement since I reviewed the draft. The tone is still biased towards the subject, and notability has not been demostrated. NeoGaze (talk) 19:36, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
::Sorry, NewGaze...
::The submission you saw yesterday was not the final one... (my mistake, and I apologize for being careless. ).
::Can you look at it again? (It is shorter now, and the "External Links" paragraph is removed completely).
::Thank You! Pablo Kirtchuk (talk) 09:02, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Tone is much better now, completely neutral. Good job on that, but notability still seems lacking. Are there more sources that talk about the subject? Better if they are substantial, independent and reliable. NeoGaze (talk) 14:49, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Hi NewGaze,
::::Thanks very much for your positive feedback.
::::Yes, there are a few more sources talking about the subject.
::::Originally, they were listed in the External Links chapter (which I removed, in an attempt to follow your feedback and stay as neutral as possible).
::::I provide the links here;
::::(If you think that these add to the notability of the subject, I can add them back to the Draft document, either in a new "External Links" section, or add them as referenes. I would be glad to get your recommendation and follow it.
::::All of these articles are written by independent writers, music journalist or professional Jazz reviewers.
::::They are:
::::1/ Review aritcle by Yossi Hersonski, an important Israeli Music Jounralist. (in Hebrew)
::::(The article is written in Hebrew. I suppose that in order to check its content, you can use Google Translate to have a reasonable idea about its content, But if this (to ask you to use a digital translator) is not appropriate .... then I can see to translate it for you)

::::2/ Another review article from the US, by Jonathan Woolf, a composer and music writer (Jonathan Wolff (musician) ↗)
::::<nowiki>https://www.musicweb-international.com/jazz/2021/ari%20erev.htm</nowiki>
::::3/ A profile article written by a Russian music journalist, living in Israel:

::::4/ Another review article written by George Harris, for the (rather presitgious) JazzWeekly web magazine.
::::<nowiki>https://jazzweekly.com/2021/09/ari-erev-close-to-home/</nowiki>
::::I was reluctant to just add these back directly to the draft document as "External Links" (or in the form of additional references) as I tried to minimize the (rather positive and supportive) language of these sources, as I wanted to first get to the most neutral tone, in an attempt to adhere to your feedback.
::::Maybe it is OK now to add them back to the draft document? so, if you think so , I will do it willingly.
::::Thanks again for helping with that!
::::Best,

:Hello, NeoGaze,
:This expired draft was in better shape than 99.99% of the other drafts I see on a daily basis, is there a reason you didn't submit this to AFC for a review?
