Hello! I'm Joyous! I saw your note at this AfD discussion, asking why the merge hasn't happened yet. Simply put, it's because it's harder to complete a merge than it is to suggest that a merge needs to be done. People at AfDs like to suggest "MERGE," then walk away, satisfied.

::How can you merge it? A merge is basically opening the edit window on the article that is being merged (the "source article") copying the information that is going to be merged, and pasting it into the article that is "receiving" it (the "target" article). The slightly more formal instructions are here ↗. The instructions look complicated, but really, Step #1 is the most important: moving the information to the target article and leaving a clear edit summary like the example shows.

Wikipedia:Requests for bureaucratship



Hi OWaunTon. My apologies, but I had to revert your request for bureaucratship, as it was incorrectly added. To make a request you need to create a new page for your request and then include it in the page you edited, rather than adding your request directly. However, to be a bureaucrat it is expected that you have at least spent some time as an admin, and while it is an important job, it is also a very limted one - the main task for bureaucrats is to add or revmove permissions for administrators, and to close requests for admin. You would need a lot more experience before you would have a solid chance of passing. - Bilby (talk) 04:06, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

::It is a bit confusing. I think it is great that you want to help out beyond being an editor. But honestly, as an admin, I think I could be just as useful if I did what you do. Creating new articles, uploading images, and removing vandalism are the actions that make Wikipedia work. Without people like you this project would fail completly. I think you may make a great admin in the future, but for now I would recommend doing what you are doing. It took me six years to run for admin, and I am still unsure if it was a good idea or not. If you want to run, I'd suggest seeking the advice of people who are good at nominating admins and follow what they recommend. People like User:theleekycauldron and User:Worm That Turned are people I would turn to, but if you have a look at successful requests you will see a number of nominators who are really good. I am not good, but they are. Nevertheless, I have spent long enough here to realise that people like you make Wikipedia work far more than people like me. :) - Bilby (talk) 13:56, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

I noticed that you had reverted some of my changes to the subchannel lists for KVVV-LD ↗ and KUBE ↗. I'm not sure where you sourced your information for doing so but your changes made the articles out-of-date. I live in Houston and based my changes on actual scans and viewing what each subchannel is broadcasting.
