TCR tracks
@OreoStar-fait Hi, how do you get the TCR tracks and how do you input them into the track map program? HurricaneZeta (talk) 12:54, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
:Can you find them in ATCF format and where? HurricaneZeta (talk) 13:26, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
::The way I do it is by manually constructing the ATCF document based off TCR data, and for different colored points I don't have to change the kt value unless the next point is a different color OreoStar-fait (talk) 16:18, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
Karen
Hey there, thank you for editing the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season β article, but I donβt think your addition regarding Karen was the most useful for the article, since you did not provide a reliable source. Also, the genesis for Karen could be moved farther south, so it is premature to say that it established any record. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 15:11, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
:That's fair OreoStar-fait (talk) 15:24, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
::You had mentioned that you don't know how to cite refs. To add a source, use <code><nowiki><ref>...</ref></nowiki></code> syntax at the appropriate place in the article text, for example:
::* <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline>Justice is a human invention.<ref>Rawls, John. ''A Theory of Justice''. Harvard University Press, 1971, p. 1.</ref> It ...</syntaxhighlight>
::which will be displayed as something like:
::* Justice is a human invention.{{dummy ref|1}}

Track maps
Please do not include asynoptic points (points whose times are not a multiple of 6 hours after 0 UTC), as you did in Melissa's track map. Otherwise, it's not truly at 6-hourly intervals and can give a misleading impression of how fast the storm moved. If you re-download and reinstall the track maker, the latest version automatically does this filtering for you (roughly within the past 2 years). If you already have that, do not pass the <code>--skip-asynoptic 0</code> option. Jasper Deng (talk) 18:46, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
:They weren't asynoptic though?? I got it from official ATCF data via 6 hour intervals https://ftp.nhc.noaa.gov/atcf/btk/bal132025.dat OreoStar-fait (talk) 19:13, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
::The one that is 160 knots occurs at 15z on 10/28, and 15 isn't a multiple of 6. :::I didn't notice they added that point, they must've added it on the final advisory. There's so many points and especially ones that are tightly packed together so I didn't notice. OreoStar-fait (talk) 20:51, 1 November 2025 (UTC)

ACE
Hi OreaStar-fait, I saw your edits on various Pacific Typhoon Season articles which added the ACE metric into the infobox and stated that "there is no valid reason for its removal β". As a result, I just wanted to reach out and explain some of the reasons why we don't include the ACE Metric in the PTS articles. Firstly and foremost, there are various warning agencies (JMA, JTWC, KMA, CMA, HKO, PAGASA etc), who all have differing opinions on how intense a system is, so the first question if we are going to include ACE we have to ask which agencies estimates should we follow (JMA, JTWC, KMA, CMA, HKO, PAGASA etc). For arguments sake, lets go with the JMA as they are the official warning centre for the region who estimate wind speeds over a 10 minute period, which leads us to our next question - Should we convert the JMA's 10-min winds to 1-min? in order to compensate for William Gray using 1-min winds, when he created the original scale. Regardless of the answer to the questions above, we also have to remember that the total needs to be sourced and verifiable in order to comply with Wikipedia's rules surrounding verifiability and original research.Jason Rees (talk) 16:07, 6 November 2025 (UTC)

Season Summary Edit Time
I hope you understand this. I think you have more confusing why '''no 0000 UTC update''' because it was depended by the Meteorology Service. Such as
Australian: 0000 AEST (1400 UTC)
South-West Indian Ocean: 0000 RET (2000 UTC)
Fiji: 0000 FJT (1200 UTC)
Hope you remember this, no whole article was using the UTC time as the standard time, '''Pacific typhoon and Pacific/Atlantic hurricane only that using UTC time as the standard time'''.
Lastly, it's more easier then UTC that don't need to minus down to 0. MAS0802 01:04, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
:If the NHEM basins use UTC for wikipedia articles I don't see any reason why we shouldn't do the same for the SHEM basins. There are numerous timezones in each basin and thus, it is more reliable to go by UTC. OreoStar-fait (talk) 03:32, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

Cyclone Jenna
Please stop introducing this system as officially in the season. MFR is the only reference for the Southwest Indian bassin and it did not recognized it as an offcial one (http://www.meteo.fr/temps/domtom/La_Reunion/webcmrs9.0/anglais/activiteope/data/index.html). Pierre cb (talk) 22:41, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
:I still think the system warrants a section. If 08W had its own section in 2025 WPAC, which was monitored by the JTWC as a tropical system and not by JMA, then Jenna should just as well have its own section in 2025-26 SWIO. OreoStar-fait (talk) 22:45, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
::Then open a discussion in Talk:2025β26 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season β and let all users vote on this subject. You cannot decide by yourself what is in or out! Pierre cb (talk) 23:27, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Re: Narelle
The biggest thing the article needs is more justification for its existence. Namely, actual storm damage. I read more about Narelle's effects in Australia through social media than I saw in the Narelle draft - the storm caused a crane to collapse, and produced red skies. When I reviewed the Narelle draft, there were a lot of parts like "the storm was expected to..." - the storm already happened, so there should be no "expected" in the article. But definitely don't include something like "There were no reports of damage". β« Hurricanehink (<small>talk β</small>) 01:59, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
:Honestly I never understood why people put "expected to" or "is forecast to" statements in TC articles, information should only be published after the facts have occurred in these regards. But anyways, I'll do some refining tomorrow and check back with you once I'm done. :) OreoStar-fait (talk) 02:27, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
::So fun fact about the whole "forecast to" thing. Back when Hurricane Beryl β was active, there was a big discussion over whether articles should be updated with current information. That had been the standard for such a long time and just taken as normal precedent, but then the discussion pointed out that if the information wouldn't be in the article in a year, then it shouldn't go into the article now. Basically, Wikipedia not being news. So good luck on the article. Be sure to check local Australian sources. β« Hurricanehink (<small>talk β</small>) 03:31, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
:::Yeahhh that's basically the sentiment I've went with for a while. Thanks! And will do :) OreoStar-fait (talk) 03:38, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
Hello, have nice day.
It's nice to have a girl who shares my passion for meteorology, but there are still rules for editing and discussions based on many factors. You can't edit based solely on your own subjective opinion. If you have any questions or don't understand something, you can send a private message or go to the discussion section of that page to express your opinion and get answers. <span style="text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.5em Blue">'''H-FinaL-FantasY-H'''</span><small>''' - <span style="text-decoration:blink; text-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.5em Blue">'''Talk'''</span>'''</small> 09:07, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
:Alright, noted. Apologies if I sometimes do that, I'll start asking first. OreoStar-fait (talk) 12:04, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
Re: MFR advisories
Here you go β - this is the archive of advisories for the season, and this one is for the ITCZ β (the MFR equivalent of the tropical weather outlook). Hope that helps! Unfortunately, I don't know of a good JTWC archive for this season, you might want to ask around for that. β« Hurricanehink (<small>talk β</small>) 18:33, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

Maysak as cover instead of Bavi
Hello. I'm here to tell you that I had changed your edit on Tropical cyclones in 2026 β for the month of July to change the cover with Tropical Storm Maysak instead of Typhoon Bavi.
The 2024 page has Yagi as the strongest storm for August even though it formed on the last day of that month as well. And when Bavi gets stronger than Mekkhala (if it does), I was going to put Bavi as the cover for June, as I just want to stay consistent between years. Thanks for understanding. <span style="color:#F00;text-shadow:2px -4px 15px #FF8886,2px 4px 15px #FFCCCB">Red</span><span style="color:#F00;text-shadow:-2px -4px 10px #FF8BA0,-3px 8px 12px #FFA8B5">Ami!</span> (talk) 14:48, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
