Italic title parameters
Hi Paradoctor, well that was a novelty {{endash}} I don't think I have ever experienced a user editing my sandbox!
Thanks for the edit on <nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE}}</nowiki>, it's not something I have ever had to use before, and is the solution recommended by the Help Desk.
I am curious to know where you got the parameters for: <nowiki>italic title = {{main other||no}}</nowiki>; I cannot see them in the <nowiki>{{Infobox book}}</nowiki> documentation, and I wonder what it will do when I publish the article in mainspace. Thanks, GreatStellatedDodecahedron (talk) 09:15, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
:{{tq|I don't think I have ever experienced a user editing my sandbox}} Normally, userspace gets left alone, though there are exceptions ↗. I edited your draft because it popped up in {{cl|Category:Pages with disallowed DISPLAYTITLE modifications}}.
:{{tq|recommended by the Help Desk}} Does not mean they always get it right. WP:COMMONNAME ↗ is the relevant guideline, and it says that we won't italicize "Summetria" different from the rest of the title. While I will not WP:edit war ↗ with you over this edit ↗ in your own userspace, you can expect it to be removed the instant the draft gets published.
:{{tq|wonder what it will do}} Please check the documentation for the templates {{tl|infobox book}} and {{tl|main other}}. If this leaves something unclear, feel free to let me know. <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 15:45, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

The redirect <span class="plainlinks">[//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fictional_band&redirect=no Fictional band]</span> has been listed at redirects for discussion ↗ to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines ↗. Thank you. I was wondering why it was not working and gave up a long time ago...it was originally just a test thst I forgot to remove. <span style="background:black; color:white; padding:2px;">wound theology</span><span style="background:black; color:red; padding:2px;">◈</span> 04:46, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
Why does langlink have cat=no?
Hello. I was wondering, why does {{tl|langlink}} have {{para|cat|no}} by default? Is there a reason to suppress categorisation when linking? – Scyrme (talk) 05:33, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
:Yes. {{tl|lang}}: {{tq|By default, this template will place articles into the relevant subcategory of :Category:Articles containing non-English-language text ↗. To suppress this – e.g. '''when using <nowiki>{{lang}}</nowiki> within a wikilink ↗''' or the {{para|title}} parameter of a citation – add the parameter {{para|cat|no}}.}} (bolding is mine) <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 10:12, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
::Do you know what the rationale for this example is? It's not clear to me why wikilinking non-English-language text used by article would mean that the article should ''not'' be included in the appropriate subcategory for articles using non-English text. – Scyrme (talk) 10:31, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
:::You might want to ask this question at template talk:lang ↗ (check the archive first). <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 12:00, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
:::Got it: {{slink|Template talk:Lang/Archive 12|Using wikilink, multiple languages and lang together doesn't work in the article namespace?}} <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 12:04, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
::::Thanks! Looks like it would take writing a specific function in Module:Lang ↗ for {{tl|langlink}} which places the category outside the link to make it work. Or maybe it could be done by invoking the function that makes a category separately? Regardless, with the way {{tl|langlink}} currently works, it's not possible. – Scyrme (talk) 22:09, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
What about Know Your Meme?
Would a link to that page be better? Or even Urban Dictionary? MatildaLyonne (talk) 14:53, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
:For future reference: Article content is to be discussed at the article's talk, not somewhere in userland where article contributors won't find it.

Request Assistance
Hi, I appreciate your courtesy, for the introduction to Wikipedia. I do have one favor to ask you. Yes, I just got off into the Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System ↗. However it says my user has expired. I am trying to come back so I don't have to redirect for a new username. The IP area seemed messed up in my location. I tried to contribute pages on edits, as much as I can do. I try to be maintain the update on sources, and help reduce number of vandalism on the recent pages. Somehow my area is blocked for any IP users who want to freely contribute to edit a page without vandalism. So, I made an account. This is the only reliable email for the account I can use, so please, I need someone to unblock it for me so I can at least have the chance to help edit a page if it needs it. I can't edit in my area, because the IP address is blocked in my area, where others want to edit about their towns and cities. I am only now just typing in a public space, so if anyone can try to unblock my user from the IP address or unblock the IP address that was in my area. My user page is Wxao Zexw, it is the only place I can log in and type anything, please assistance.~2026-35469-22 ↗ (talk) 21:40, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
:Umm, I'm afraid I have no experience appealing blocks. Best I can do is tell you to read Wikipedia:Appealing a block ↗ and follow the instructions there. <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 23:21, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Before adding a category to an article, as you did to :Francis Obed Belzer ↗, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines ↗. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable ↗ content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-badcat --> SMasonGarrison 01:50, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

:::Please look at the description of :Category:20th-century_American_men ↗. It is not for categorizing individual people. SMasonGarrison 02:31, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
::::Next time, provide this info without requiring an invitation. Put it in the WP:EDITSUMMARY ↗. That's what it is for. <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 02:43, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

::::::You're clearly not getting the message here. Let me spell it out for you:
::::::A) Going to user talk is for behavioral patterns, {{em|not}} for what was clearly an isolated, ordinary mistake, of the kind that happen all the time, regardless of experience. Especially when it happens in the form of a semi-automated warning.
::::::B) This is about your tone. As an experienced user and an admin, I shouldn't have had to educate you about this. <span style="display:inline-block;position:relative;transform:rotate(-3deg);bottom:-.1em;">Paradoctor ↗</span> (talk ↗) 14:19, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
Paradoctor?
Is that like a metaphysician? GA-RT-22 (talk) 16:07, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:Haha. I do dabble in metaphysics, which makes me a metaphysicist, but no, this comes from a different place. See {{article link|Welcome to the Land of Confusion}}.
