Replaceable non-free use File:Hrvatska enciklopedija 1999–2009.JPG

32px|left ↗
Thanks for uploading ''':File:Hrvatska enciklopedija 1999–2009.JPG ↗'''. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use ↗. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion ↗. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have ''no free equivalent''; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

# Go to the file description page ↗ and add the text {{Tlx|Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|&lt;your reason>}} '''below''' the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <code>&lt;your reason></code> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
# On the file discussion page ↗, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license ↗, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions|target=Phazd&namespace=6}} this link]</span>. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy ↗. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page ↗. Thank you. <!-- Template:di-replaceable non-free use-notice --> — Ирука13 ↗ 19:05, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

:@Iruka13 I would be grateful for some assistance regarding this file. My reason for adding this image is that a visually clear photo of the entire encyclopedia is not easy to obtain. If I wanted to create the picture myself, I'd have to find the encyclopedia in some library, and there's no guarantee that the lighting there would allow for a photo that isn't blurry, with bad colour balance, etc. - I don't have a very good camera either. So I find using the non-free image a more reasonable solution.
:Is this a sufficient reason to keep the non-free image? Personally, I don't see why this image is different copyright-wise from the numerous copyrighted book covers used on WP, so I would assume it should be fine too. — Phazd (talk ↗|contribs ↗) 03:26, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
:: Yes, what you listed is not a significant reason - the very fact of having the opportunity to take such a photo is important.
:: The rights of a photographer when creating exact copies of 2D images is a controversial issue. The scanner does not have ↗ such rights. So only the rights of the author of the cover itself should be taken into account. However, if the photo is not an exact reproduction of the cover and/or, as in your case, a 3D object was photographed, the photographer’s rights must be taken into account. If it is possible to use a freer ↗ image, a less free image should not be used. — Ирука13 ↗ 11:47, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
:::In that case I suppose the image should be removed. — Phazd (talk ↗|contribs ↗) 16:56, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Hello, I'm UtherSRG. I noticed that you recently removed content ↗ from :Yat ↗&nbsp;without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary ↗. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page ↗. Quotation marks

You'll need to approach the WP:AWB ↗ team about that. It's not a thing ''I'' did on purpose, it's a thing AWB ''automatically'' applied as a "genfix" while I was in the process of trying to tag a batch of articles for {{tl|1970s-documentary-film-stub}}. So it's a thing you'll need to request that the AWB programmers remove from their automatic "genfixes", not a thing I could have seen or prevented. Bearcat (talk) 16:11, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

:@Bearcat Thank you for clarification, I'll let them know about this :) — Phazd (talk ↗|contribs ↗) 17:33, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Paul Garde ↗ moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Paul Garde ↗. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because '''it has no sources'''.
I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page ↗.
When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade <small>(she/her)</small> (talk) 02:41, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

:@Significa liberdade OK, thanks for the explanation. The information currently in there is largely trivial and self-evident, and within the context of a finished article it would not require sources, as far as I see from similar articles. I'm just gradually working on the article, and actually have a large number of sources ready to be used for expanding the text. Is it problematic to publish an article that is still in an early stage? — Phazd (talk ↗|contribs ↗) 21:48, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
::Hi, Phazd! Publishing an article in an 'early stage' is not necessarily problematic; Wikipedia has many incomplete articles. However, as you write the article, you want to make sure the topic meets Wikipedia's notability ↗ guidelines, which are what we use to determine which topics should have Wikipedia articles. Notability is established through reliable ↗, [[WP:IS|independent] sources that have significant coverage ↗ of the topic. Articles that do not meet these standards may be deleted. If you're unsure about your article and/or would like extra feedback, you can submit it for review through Articles for Creation by clicking the blue "Submit for review" button at the top of the draft article. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. Take care, Significa liberdade <small>(she/her)</small> (talk) 21:53, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
:::@Significa liberdade I'm aware of the notability guidelines. The subject is notable, which has already been confirmed by an another editor (''"An editor has performed a search and found that sufficient sources exist to establish the subject's notability. (January 2025)"''). I have over a dozen sources about the subject and his works (academic reviews, substantial discussions of his works, an encyclopedic article). I simply haven't used the sources in the article ''yet'', and what I mean to ask is whether it's problematic to publish a page which does not ''yet'' mention the sources. — Phazd (talk ↗|contribs ↗) 23:42, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

Vatroslav Jagić

Thank you for the bibliography work! I agree with your changes. I have been working on a standalone Vatroslav Jagić bibliography for some time now, but have been otherwise preoccupied. I will let you know when it is finished so you can choose which works to keep in a Selected reading section. Ⰻⱁⰲⰰⱀⱏ (ⰳⰾ) 00:37, 13 July 2025 (UTC)

:@Иованъ I apologise for not responding at all for so long. I've noticed your impressive bibliographies (in case you haven't already come across it, there was a relatively recent bibliography of J. Lisac compiled by G. Čupković and J. Galić, you can find it online in PDF), and if you manage to improve upon the existing Jagić bibliographies that would be a terrific achievement. You've probably seen the ones I've linked in the article on Jagić, but I'd warn that the most recent one, published by Hrvatski studiji, even if the most complete and obviously very valuable, is full of mistakes, some (but far from all) of which have been inherited from Kombol and even Pastrnek, so I keep my own little ''corrigenda'' in a text file (and I'm not even trying to keep track of all the typos, just the major mistakes).
:I hope I've already covered all books authored by Jagić in the current article. In the future I'd try to gather all of his edited publications, i.e. critical editions and chrestomathies. As for articles and their selection, my idea would be to focus on those that are relevant to Croatian language and literature, and whatever he has published in English which would naturally be more attractive to the "default" English-speaking readers of en.wiki (for now just those two units that I've listed, and I don't expect to find any more, but I haven't checked the bibliographies thoroughly yet). Perhaps something of his work on OCS may be mentioned, but I'm on shakier grounds in that area, more difficult to judge what's really important...
:BTW, I ''again'' reverted one of your additions to the bibliography :( It was ''Spomeni mojega života'', whose both volumes I already added to the list, linking to the very same file on IA (on my profile; you can see my Jagić uploads here ↗).

::Sorry for the mistake once again! Thank you for notifying me about the new Lisac bibliography. So Zbornik o Vatroslavu Jagiću ↗ is incomplete and error-ridden? Is there any chance you could share the contents of the text file with me? I'm working on an offline corpus of his works myself. Ⰻⱁⰲⰰⱀⱏ (ⰳⰾ) 09:37, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
:::Yes, I guess the author of the bibliography does not have a good grasp of Russian. I just checked the entry for Codex Marianus (275.) and noticed these mistakes: "pis'''ъ'''me'''n'''osti" for письменности, "'''i'''mperatorsko'''i'''" for Императорской (capitalisation is wrong elsewhere too <small>(Pre-reform Russian is weird with capitalisation, I myself had some doubts about how to deal with it a few days ago while working on Alexander Vostokov ↗'s bibliography...)</small>), "nau'''k'''" for наукъ (but correctly later in the same entry), "t'''y'''pografija" for Типографія. Again, these are the mistakes that are not even worth listing all in detail, anyone who can read pre-reform Russian should be able to fix them. As for my corrections, I'll put them on {{Strikethrough|Google Drive here}}, let me know when you have the file so I can delete it, and ofc if you have any feedback. My corrections are based just on unsystematic checks, so I suppose that many other mistakes could be found. (And again, the book is still very useful, just has to be used carefully.) — Phazd (talk ↗|contribs ↗) 10:52, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
::::Thank you very much! I downloaded it, so you can delete it now. Ⰻⱁⰲⰰⱀⱏ (ⰳⰾ) 11:22, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
