👋👆
please if can always find source for club by club fully-semi pro status, some statements counter 🇱🇺 uefa club achievements and encyclopedic standards
besides, with respect, but if your name matches a web developer whose website is completely unrelated to sports, while user page never mentioned web developing, seems unusual
anyway, best regards ~2026-35344-11 ↗ (talk) 01:07, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
:https://www.erieri.com/salary/job/football-player/luxembourg
:''Players in lower divisions or smaller international markets usually earn between $2,000 and $8,000 per month, with many lower-tier professionals making similar averages to standard full-time jobs.
''
:(smaller market but by most recent sources, average top division fits pro criteria) ~2026-35344-11 ↗ (talk) 01:20, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
::Sorry, but I do not understand. you comment.
::For club's semi-professional status, clubs in Luxembourg are semi-professional at best as the leagues cannot support complete full-time squads. This is common knowledge in Luxembourg. I know Facebook isn't a reliable source for Wikipedia, but most clubs' pages list themselves as "Amateur sports team" - surely if they were professional, they would like themselves as "Sports team".
::About my name - what's that got to do with anything?
::About the erieri report - that's hardly reliable based on the football players I know here. Given that most players, especially in the lower divisions of Luxembourg, have a job and football is their "side gig".

::These articles detail why Luxembourg is not a professional league. Nothing significant has changed since that article was published.

:::link from this year > 4 years old, and most clubs don't use "amateur" online
:::changes will revert until reaching Dispute resolution requests/ANI
:::take care 👍 ~2026-35474-96 ↗ (talk) 10:29, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
::::As per Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues#Men's leagues 2 ↗ Luxembourg is not professional.
::::Your source does not mention this magic "2,000 to 8,000 USD" wage, so please provide a better source that takes into account that 2,000 USD is below the minimum wage in Luxembourg.
::::According to all information I have, Luxembourg is not a professional league, with no fully professional clubs. There are a small handful of professional players, but these are the exception, not the norm.
::::Phil 12:19, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
::::I have asked a question to determine if your source can be used as a reliable source, as to me it does not appear to be reliable due to how the data is obtained Phil 12:44, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
link=|25px|alt=Information icon ↗ There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents ↗ regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Lux._clubs ↗. KylieTastic (talk) 12:18, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, {{u|Philk84}} note that the above user that started the ANI thread included what they believed for some reason was your personal website. Unfortunately this was posted at 10:54 and I did not notice and remove and redact until 12:09. I have requested oversight to remove even further so even admins will not be able to view. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 12:18, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- :Thanks @KylieTastic - I'm not sure why they seem to believe a personal website is relevant here. I do have one, but it is unconnected to any "work" I do on Wikipedia.
- :Regarding the incident, I don't know what steps I can take against a temporary account. Luxembourgish clubs are not professional, as it well known in Luxembourg. Yes, a few compete in European competition, but this hardly makes them professional - especially at the quote wages which are below minimum wage. Any idea what I can do here? Phil 12:31, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- ::If there is disagreement between 2 editors the best thing to do is get a third opinion. Although there is Wikipedia:Third opinion ↗ sometimes it's best to just the attention of other interested parties. In this case one of the two obvious wikiprojects, Wikipedia:WikiProject Football ↗ or Wikipedia:WikiProject Luxembourg ↗. I do not think https://www.erieri.com/salary/job/football-player/luxembourg can be use as proof they are professional it could just be semi-professional or be incorrect data as the source and methodology is unclear. Also in this case primary sources would be good for such a factual definition: does the league call itself professional or not or the teams on their own websites? Regards KylieTastic (talk) 12:44, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- :::@KylieTastic Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues#Men's leagues 2 ↗ says it is not fully professional, but I believe this could be interpreted as "19 clubs are but 1 is not". I have created some discussion threads to try and seek clarification, but if the source they are using is reliable, and what others are able to find or know about. Unfortunately, even sources from within Luxembourg do not go into detail about what status each club has. Phil 12:47, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- ::::Wikipedia cannot be used as a source, only the sources it uses - and the source is uses is from 2009 and a dead link. However as it was fifa.com maybe there is a newer listing on that site. If no reliable source(s) can be found to get a definitive answer then the article(s) should refrain from making any claim out the league or clubs statuses. KylieTastic (talk) 14:07, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
