ArbCom elections are now open! ↗

Hi,<br>
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election ↗. The Arbitration Committee ↗ is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process ↗. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans ↗, topic bans ↗, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy ↗ describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements ↗ and submit your choices on the voting page ↗. Removal of deadlinks and redlinks

You seem to be doing a lot of this, but it is not necessarily a good thing to do. We do not remove references just because the hyperlink has gone dead. The reference remains the source of the information, whether or not it can be accessed online, and in many cases it has simply been moved to another location, or can be recovered from an archive. Future editors may need this information to find the souce. You especially should not do this for printed sources, as you did here ↗ for example. Printed material can still be found in libraries.

Redlinks should not be removed just because they are redlinks, as you did here ↗. Redlinks should only be removed if the subject is never likely to have an article. That is, if it is non-notable. <b style="background:#FAFAD2;color:#C08000">Spinning</b><b style="color:#4840A0">Spark</b> 00:27, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Spinningspark,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was unaware of these guidelines and will be mindful of removing deadlinks and redlinks moving forward.

Manual of style

Hi - I'm Girth Summit, an administrator ↗ here. I noticed a recent edit summary of yours that indicated that you were changing text to make it compliant with the AP style guide. I haven't looked at the edit in detail, but I wanted to make you aware that we follow our own manual of style ↗, not any third party style guides. I'm not saying that your changes were incorrect, just making sure that you understand what we are aiming for. Cheers <span style="font-family:Impact;color:#006400;">Girth</span>&nbsp;<span style="font-family:Impact;color:#4B0082;">Summit</span> (blether) 18:25, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
:As an afterthought, having looked at a few more of your edit summaries, you may wish to be aware that the Oxford comma is permitted here. They aren't required - it boils down to whether or not they're used consistently throughout an article. You shouldn't remove them on sight, you should check to see whether they are used throughout - don't just change them because you don't like them. See MOS:OXFORD ↗ for discussion of this. Cheers <span style="font-family:Impact;color:#006400;">Girth</span>&nbsp;<span style="font-family:Impact;color:#4B0082;">Summit</span> (blether) 18:32, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
:Thank you, Girth! This is super helpful and something that I will keep in mind moving forward when editing the pages. Appreciate you looking out! Privatechef (talk) 18:33, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
::No worries. The MOS is a vast, sprawling guide, but you can usually find guidance on what you want to know by searching for it. Give me a shout if you need any help; there's also WP:GOCE ↗, which you might be interested in. <span style="font-family:Impact;color:#006400;">Girth</span>&nbsp;<span style="font-family:Impact;color:#4B0082;">Summit</span> (blether) 18:37, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
:::Oh yeah - I just looked, MOS:US ↗ seems to say that the abbreviation is fine. <span style="font-family:Impact;color:#006400;">Girth</span>&nbsp;<span style="font-family:Impact;color:#4B0082;">Summit</span><sub style="font-family:Segoe print;color:blue;"> (blether)</sub> 18:40, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

OLINK

As an extension to the above, and noting again that Wikipedia's manual of style is less-than-succinct, you may want to take a quick look at the MOS:OL ↗ guideline. Which confirms that linking of large geographical topics (countries like the United States or continents like North America) are "usually not linked ↗". Except in those (often less common) cases where the linked topic is of particular relevance to the context in the article. (Like "{{tq|The United States of America [..] is a country primarily located in North America ↗}}... Guliolopez (talk) 20:13, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Privatechef. This message concerns the Articles for Creation ↗ submission or draft ↗ page you started, "Gina Mastantuono ↗".

Drafts that go unedited for six months are eligible for deletion, in accordance with our draftspace policy ↗, and this one has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply {{edit|Draft:Gina Mastantuono|edit the submission}}, and remove the {{tlc|db-afc}}, {{tlc|db-draft}}, or {{tlc|db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you read this, you can '''request its undeletion''' ↗. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the draft so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! <!-- Template:Db-draft-notice --> DreamRimmer bot II (talk) 12:25, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
