Your revision on the Benzonatate page

You removed my edit which said the following on the Benzonatate page: "It can be extremely difficult to swallow and can even be a choking hazard as it can get stuck in the throat, while chewing it and spilling the liquid in the mouth is extremely dangerous as it acts as a local anesthesia that can immobilize the muscles in the throat leading to any intake of food or liquids during the period when the anesthetic is active potentially going into the windpipe."

Note that the same Wikipedia page has the information scattered in the 'Intubation' and 'Improper Use' sections. However, that information deserves to be in the first paragraph because it can save lives. The inability to swallow larger size pills is a huge issue in the medical and legal world. In case of Benzonatate, what can happen is that people can decide to crush it or chew it which is extremely dangerous. The warning on this prescription drug will say 'Do not crush or chew' but not give a reason. However, you can ask AI and you will see what I'm saying is true.

Granted that you are a better editor and more experienced at editing Wikipedia, but my belief was that if I put in useful information, someone who is better will improve the formatting. Instead, I am disappointed that you deleted it completely. It was not vandalism but a sincere input. Please do put it back. ~2026-29390-33 ↗ (talk) 17:34, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

:Hi @~2026-29390-33, I'm by no means an expert on the topic and I may well have been wrong to revert your edit (in which case I am very sorry), I'm not sure. If you would like to restore your changes, all edits are stored in the articles' revision history ↗. Purpleduckfish (talk) 17:41, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
::The issue is simple. All those pills with that look like pearls do so because the medicines inside them are intended to be deposited in the stomach and not come into contact with the esophagus or throat. However, some people may decide to chew them as swallowing pills can be a challenge and this is dangerous because the medicine in the case of Benzonatate is an anesthetic, and once the throat is anesthetized, any further intake of food can end up in the wind passage. I thought this information will be useful for people because Bonzonatate is the most common prescription drug to suppress cough. ~2026-29390-33 ↗ (talk) 20:32, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
