Rocky Mountains
Can you explain, I genuinely want to know, how the Rocky Mountains is a mountain range not a system consisting of many mountain ranges? Is one of the ranges in the system called the Rocky Mountains? Utahredrock (talk) 19:23, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
:OK, I asked this same question elsewhere and got this reply: In common vernacular, people routinely say: “the Rocky Mountain range” or “the Rockies are a mountain range” and no one will blink. It’s totally normal, widely understood, and stylistically fine for most writing.
:Geologically and geographically, though, that's imprecise. The Rockies are more accurately described as: a mountain system, a mountain chain, or a system of many mountain ranges.
:So: Everyday writing / journalism / general audience: calling them a mountain range is fine.
:Scientific, technical, or educational precision: better to say a mountain system made up of many ranges.

I am also not surprised that Mry appeared over Beethoven in DEwiki even though German is more Protestant than Catholic country as she has still much influence there (for example Teutonic Order ↗ has alternative name: Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, Flag of Europe ↗ mentions in aticle Marian influence). :Thank you for providing this valuable research. But obviously it, by studying Wikipedia itself, is affected by recency bias on Wikipedia, so I wouldn't support removing persons from a millennium ago off of this.
