advices needed
Hello, could you please explain me your modification, because :
1) I think it is not overlinked, on the Web it is useful to have links ;
2) Why is the English grammar requiring a "has" instead of a "had" for an ancient information ?
Yours sincerely,
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ham%C3%ADlton_%28footballer%2C_born_1980%29&oldid=prev&diff=1352655511 Wisdood (talk) 14:13, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{re|Wisdood}}, thanks for reaching out.
:#Yes, links can be useful. But per MOS:OVERLINK ↗, "unless particularly relevant to the context in the article, words and terms understood by most readers in context are usually not linked". I think most readers will understand both "Brazil" and "Togo". "Brazil" is actually explicitly listed at MOS:OVERLINK as an example of things not to link. The more relevant link in the context of Hamílton's naturalisation is the one for the Togo national team.
:#The tense change was good, I've reinstated it.
:#I don't think we need the French name of the Togolese Football Federation in this English article.
:Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 18:54, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks for these explanations. Wisdood (talk) 22:01, 5 May 2026 (UTC)

Asking
Draft:Mahroos Siddiquee Nadim (Footballer) ↗ can I move this draft to mainspace please check it because you are a experienced editor Binoy62 (talk) 18:44, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{re|Binoy62}}. I'm not familiar with media in India so it is difficult for me to ascertain whether the sources used are WP:SIGCOV ↗ but I'm skeptical. I can't help but notice your username includes "Binoy" which is also the name of the person who wrote more than half of the sources used. Are you Binoy Raba? Robby.is.on (talk) 18:57, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
::hi Robby Yes I'm Binoy Raba,working as Mahroos Siddiquee Nadim media representative.i formaly declare my coi here. please guide me on which source remove or how to cleanup the draft to meet WP:SIGCOV. I'm happy to fix it based on your feedback. Thanks Binoy62 (talk) 19:16, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
:::To be frank, I'm not interested in the article enough to guide you. My suggestion would be to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's general notability guideline at Wikipedia:Notability ↗, to edit the article accordingly and to submit the draft article for review. Updated image reverted — clarification requested
Hello Robby,
I noticed you reverted the updated photo on the article about Daniel Beichler. Could you please explain your reasoning for preferring the older image?
From an encyclopedic perspective, the 2006 image is quite dated, whereas the 2026 photo provides a more current and accurate visual representation. To m knowledge Wikipedia aims to use images that best reflect the current appearance of a living person, where available.
Additionally, the newer image is properly copyright-released and freely licensed, so there should be no issue regarding its use on that basis.
I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thank you! Somewhereovertherainbow33 (talk) 15:34, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{re|Somewhereovertherainbow33}}, thanks for reaching out. I'm happy to explain my rationale. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images ↗ is probably the most relevant guideline and more specifically its "Images for the lead" section which states: "It is common for an article's lead or infobox to carry a representative image—such as of a person or place, a book or album cover—to give readers visual confirmation that they've arrived at the right page.".
:I agree that having a current photo of the article subject would help readers confirm that they are at the page they're looking for. The issue I see with the newer photo is that because it isn't cropped the article subject's face only covers half the photo. That results in the subject's face being harder to make out, especially for people with poor eyesight.
:So, in my opinion, the ideal solution would be to crop the newer image and use that version. But until that happens, I would maintain the older image is preferable. Robby.is.on (talk) 16:12, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hello Robby. Thank you for the explanation. I understand your concern. However, I still believe the newer image should be preferred. The older image shows the subject as a teenager, whereas the newer image reflects the current appearance and shows him in his present professional role. As such, it provides a more representative illustration of the subject today. While a cropped version might improve the visibility of the subjects face, I do not think the current framing alone is sufficient reason to favour an image of the subject as a teenager over a more recent photograph. Somewhereovertherainbow33 (talk) 19:30, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
:::The older image is from 2009 when the subject was around 21, not a teenager.
:::Visibility is not a nice-to-have, it is paramount. Please try to put oneself in the position of someone with poor eyesight.
:::Perhaps you could give Commons:CropTool ↗ a shot? Robby.is.on (talk) 20:00, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
::::Hello Robby. Thank you for your guidance. I have done that! Image has been cropped for better visibility. All the best!! Somewhereovertherainbow33 (talk) 14:46, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
:::::Good job! That's much better. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 02:18, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
"Cap" column in international goals
Hi @Robby.is.on! Wanted to check with you regarding the Cap column in International goals. I started adding them recently after noticing they were being commonly used for a number of current players for quite some time now. Unfortunately, I assumed that due to the column being a recent addition (haven't seen it being used 1-2 years ago) that it was not added to the standard article '''yet''', but would be in due time - and you know what happens when you assume... My apologies.
Going forward, should I remove the column whenever I spot it, or at the very least, cease adding it to anyone else's Career statistics sections? Thanks, take care! KibolLP (talk) 15:51, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
:Hi {{re|KibolLP}}, thanks for reaching out. Our project's manual of style at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players ↗ should be our point of reference as it reflects the current consensus. I vaguely remember the issue of the "Cap" column having been brought up a few times over the years. A quick search of the Talk page archives found this discussion ↗ from January 2022.
:So my answer to {{tq|Going forward, should I remove the column whenever I spot it, or at the very least, cease adding it to anyone else's Career statistics sections?}} is "yes."
:That said, WP:Consensus can change ↗ so if somebody thinks we need the "Cap" column, they can put it up for discussion. Robby.is.on (talk) 16:25, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
