King, Activision Blizzard, and the 2026 reporting change
Hi Ryan, I reverted your edit because I think it makes an unsupported jump from an operational reporting change to a corporate/divisional reclassification.
I agree that the 2026 sources show a real change: Xbox Wire says that “Mojang and King will now report directly” to Asha Sharma, and Game File says that Minecraft and King were “moved within the company’s gaming organization” to report directly to Sharma instead of Matt Booty.
However, those sources do not say that King legally left Activision Blizzard, became a separate Xbox subsidiary, or became a new Xbox division. A change in reporting line is not the same thing as a change in corporate structure.
That distinction matters here because the infobox and organization table should not reclassify entities unless the sources explicitly support that classification. The most accurate wording, in my view, is to keep King within Activision Blizzard for corporate/organizational context, while noting the 2026 direct-reporting change to Asha Sharma in the article body.
I’m not trying to remove the restructuring information. I’m trying to avoid implying a corporate split that the cited sources do not establish. Happy to discuss on the Talk page if you disagree. Chocococooo (talk) 02:37, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hi! It's unclear at the moment whether King is its own subsidiary or not, since the language used by Sharma is not clear. She said that King will report directly to her, which suggests they are no longer be reporting to Activision Blizzard. Phil Spencer used similar language when Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard in 2023.
:Thanks for the message. Ryan York (talk) 16:46, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
