Neal Ludevig page
Hi Sam!
Wasn't sure the best way to be in touch, and I had responded to your comment but didn't hear back. Are you able to see if the tweaks made to the Neal Ludevig page to improved it and make it qualify? Thinking about some other pages for other folks, but feel like this will help provide a foundation for what goes and what doesn't, so wanted to check-in with you since you gave some good advice earlier. Thanks! Hiztorybuph (talk) 13:37, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
:{{reply to|Hiztorybuph}} Draft:Neal Ludevig ↗ reads like a list of projects and productions he has been involved in, not a biography. Sam Sailor 16:10, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
::Hi Sam - can you maybe provide any notes / thoughts on what would allow it to read more like a biography in that way, or provide an example of a individual bio that reads correctly? That would help a lot as I seek to improve it and make necessary changes. I feel like I see many articles read in a similar way (somewhat list style), and felt that read neutral - but I guess that's wrong?
::Any/all help would be appreciated!
::Thanks! Hiztorybuph (talk) 18:59, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
:::Writing about living persons requires good sources. Which are the three ↗ best? Sam Sailor 19:04, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

:::::Hey @Sam Sailor - just thought to check-in here. Appreciate the help!
{{od|4}}Which are the three ↗ best sources? Try to fill a {{tl|SAT}}, and let me see how that looks. Sam Sailor 20:18, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
:As for the sources that seem strongest (3 best), he's been written about, mentioned, and had his work covered in everything from the New York Times, to Variety, to Deadline, to the Daily News, to Rolling Stone, and beyond. They all seem seriously reputable (in addition to other reputable / media-like sources like WNYC / NPR) - are you suggesting taking info related and/or mentioned in those out?
:If you're able to do a pass, that'd be helpful (I also don't know if I shoudl be doing this another way so this doesn't fall on you - I thought honestly this was a community thing where all kinds of people contribute, but just haven't seen anything here done for some reason). Hiztorybuph (talk) 13:27, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
::I would appreciate a {{tl|SAT}} or at least actually posting the three best sources here; that would be most helpful. Sam Sailor 13:35, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
:::Hi @Sam Sailor — I've posted the <nowiki>{{SAT}}</nowiki> template on the Draft talk page. Also putting here, per your request (in case there were any issues with what I did on the draft page) the three strongest independent sources:
:::# ''The New York Times'', August 15, 2019 - names Ludevig directly as co-producer of the 50th anniversary Harlem Cultural Festival concerts: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/15/arts/music/black-woodstock-harlem-festival-1969.html
:::# ''Rolling Stone'', August 9, 2019 —-identifies Ludevig as primary curator and co-producer: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/black-woodstock-harlem-cultural-festival-history-859626/
:::# ''Variety'', April 9, 2026 - names Ludevig as co-producer on ''Lillian, Next Door'' starring four-time Oscar nominee Jane Alexander: https://variety.com/2026/film/global/jane-alexander-lead-comedy-drama-lilian-next-door-wme-1236712368/
:::Thanks again for your guidance! Hiztorybuph (talk) 14:49, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
::::@Sam Sailor (for some reason didn't come up) Hiztorybuph (talk) 14:50, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::Just thought to check-in here - thanks! 🙏 Hiztorybuph (talk) 11:33, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
{{od|4}}The three sources are excellent; unfortunately, they are behind paywalls. Going by your descriptions, 1. {{tq|names Ludevig directly as co-producer}}, 2. {{tq|identifies Ludevig as primary curator and co-producer}}, 3. {{tq|names Ludevig as co-producer}}, I suspect we still lack the important significant coverage ↗. Goldsmith Page
Hi, thanks for linking Ella Goldsmith to the main surname page, however it's saying she's English instead of Australian for some reason and I can't fix it.
Could you fix it, and show me how if possible? Cheers

Justin Paul
You recently removed the orphan tag from Justin Paul (scholar) ↗. Looking at the criteria section of WP:ORPHAN ↗, I do not think that the conditions to remove the tag are met. The only links in are talk pages, a surname article, and disambiguation links. Am I missing something? I have attempted in the past to find a way to deorphan the page, and have never succeeded. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 23:49, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
:Set index articles ↗, which include {{tl|surname}} pages, have long been explicitly mentioned in the section {{section link|Wikipedia:Orphan#Criteria}} as "pages that {{strong|do count}} as incoming links". Looking at the {{history|Wikipedia:Orphan|history of Wikipedia:Orphan}}, I see that recently (diff ↗) somebody added surname pages to the paragraph "pages [that] {{strong|do not count}}". I have added Justin Paul (scholar) ↗ to List of University of Brighton alumni ↗. Best, Sam Sailor 05:03, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
::The alumni listing works! Good catch -- I was looking for ways to mention him at Masstige ↗. Thanks! Russ Woodroofe (talk) 06:14, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
Strøm ↗
Hi, you removed grouping: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Str%C3%B8m&curid=24395688&diff=1363363231&oldid=1319225724 ↗
I am actively editing surname pages and see a number of ones with grouping. Will you suggest merging them into single sorned lists as well?
What is your rationale? (I support this), but I am vary of opposition). --Altenmann ↗ >talk ↗ 19:07, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
: Happy to hear from you, Altenmann. In general, I think alphabetical sorting makes much more sense in terms of lexicography. Quicker to navigate, quicker to update.
: On shorter lists like Strøm ↗, I don't think categorization in broader occupational groups is relevant at all. As WP:NAMEPAGE ↗ suggests: "Generally, names should be listed in alphabetical order, but where the page includes a large number of people, it may be helpful to categorize them (as in Khan ↗ or Elizabeth ↗)."
: But maybe we should start a discussion on WT:APO ↗ about it? One suggestion could be to try to follow the order of {{section link|Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types/People#People by occupation}}, {{strong|if}} categorization is used. With standardized heading names.
: What do you think? Best, Sam Sailor 19:37, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
::If you start the discussion I will throw in my 2pf, but (<lots of excuses>:-) I think flattening relatively short lists is a good idea. I am doin the same with microsections in small articles. Stub sorting is rather detailed ("Piracy" eh?), but it gives an idea for coarser groups, like "Academics and scientists). A problem with categorizing is that quite a few notable people are notable in several domains, and someone looking for a scifi writer may overlook "Scientists" section. So I am leaning for flat list always. If one wants to find a Smith mountaineerer, one can open alphabetic List of people with surname Smith ↗ and search for word "mountaineer" Meaning that descriptions must mention all traits the person is notable for. --Altenmann ↗ >talk ↗ 20:57, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
