Hello there, I noticed that you have started a number of new name indices, so thanks for that. One technique you can use for simple surname indices that do not need any links or an extended description is to simply place <nowiki>{{subst:refer|type=surname}}</nowiki> at the top of the page and all the verbiage will be handled for you, no risk of typos or accidentally repeated words. Likewise <nowiki>{{subst:refer|type=given-name}}</nowiki> works for given names. Thanks for your modifications to the Southport Lifeboat Station page.

I would appreciate your views as to the reasons for the modifications.

Everywhere else, people are editing spaces out.
Is there a need for a space after SouthportJM before the /
On one hand you are introducing nbsp to stop fold around, but then you are adding hyphens to ISBN numbers, thereby causing fold arounds. ???

:The specific changes you mention are minor and made for readability/consistency, are not explicit in the WP:MOS ↗, and as such I will not oppose if they are reverted:
:*Spaces before closing of html ("<>") tags is standard for readability on Wikipedia, see Help:Footnotes#Footnotes: using a source more than once ↗ or Help:Line-break handling#<br> ↗
:*Non-breaking space characters are used only in some specific circumstances, such as between the number and unit for length, indeed to avoid wrap-around; we should be cautious is using non-breaking characters as the user's screen size, text size preference and other factors should drive display of the content, not editors' preferences for display, but this is a specific case where their use is accepted as it enhances readability at the cost of imposing a small constraint
