Functions of ICC President

On the source ↗ for the functions of the Presidency of the International Criminal Court ↗ (citation number one), it does list, amongst other topics, "the Presidency constitutes and assigns cases to Chambers". I believe the former in the quote to mean that the ICC President is over the activities of the Prosecutor.

I do think me saying that the President oversees the work of the Prosecutor was not a good choice of words.

Furthermore, I believe that including the "constitutes and assigns" should be included in the opening paragraph, perhaps as "apart from the Office of the Prosecutor, though the President constitutes and assigns cases to them". Rhino Ryan (talk) 07:33, 19 November 2025 (UTC)

:What the quote means is merely that the presidency decides which pre-trial chamber would handle which situation and which trial chamber would try which case. (see eg https://www.icc-cpi.int/news/icc-presidency-assigns-judges-judicial-divisions-and-chambers-2) I don't think that implies the presidency supervises how OTP is internally organised to handle their caseload?
